  1. Man, that's a beautifully created fish!
  2. Great way to start the day! ... Although it can only go downhill from there!
  3. Wait. Did I confuse that with the snakehead? I'll have to check the Rivermonsters reruns.
  4. They can walk across land.
  5. You could try casting big redfins and pencil poppers at main lake points ... Especially ones with submerged rock piles or underwater humps. Getting a blow up from a huge striper like this is about as much fun as it gets. However, the guys I know who do this try several points each time they go out before finding fish and sometimes never do. That could be lots of paddling in a kayak.
  6. I would recommend either... - fish a tourney on Lake 'O the Pines (Brushy Creek? I grew up in Longview) for a good chance at some 5+ lb bass - fish for stripers on Beaver for a good chance at some 15+ lb fish
  7. OK, so who was this? Somebody on here??? Pretty funny.
  8. A 9-lb crappie is huge!
  9. Why is it that the wind is such a big factor? Is it on this lake more than others? Visibility? Breaks up the surface so bass feel less exposed? Blows bait around? Something else?
  10. When people say "great fishery" or "poor fishery" I think they mean "easy fishery" or "challenging fishery." Correct?
  11. Great info. Very interesting. Thanks for sharing.
  12. Is it Deer Island or Bear Island closest to the bridge?
  13. Just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you SHOULD. Not all kayakers want to paddle around secluded coves. There is an Olympic kayaker who regularly paddles a huge portion of Beaver Lake.... Many, many miles of it. It's your responsibility to look for him and see him. Regardless of the season (peak or not), or particular location on the lake (quiet cove or main body), it is YOUR responsibility to look for and see other watercraft. It doesn't matter what size they are. If you can't see them before you are too close then you are going too fast.

  17. Creekfreak, Any news on this?
  18. Great day for it. I hope the warm weather stirs them up.
  19. 1 Week to go. Thank you to everyone that has given. We are at $6,500 towards the $10,000 goal. Funding for rare diseases is very hard to come by so this is huge! Every dollar helps. Join us please! http://g1dfnd.ejoinme.org/Leiffer
  20. The 2-week fundraising campaign officially starts today. Every bit helps. Thank you!
  21. Just realized I should probably include a picture of the little guy out looking for stripers with me...
  22. [Please pardon the fishing discussion interruption. - The following posted with permission of the moderator. Thank you, Phil!] Below is a link to an article about my youngest son, Will, running in this month’s Northwest Arkansas family magazine “Peekaboo.” It describes some of the journey we have been on with him and a rare brain disorder called Glut1 Deficiency Syndrome. http://www.peekaboonwa.com/gods-will/ There is an annual fundraising campaign called “Love Some1 with Glut1.” It starts this week on Valentine’s Day and runs through February 28th which is Rare Disease Day. Everything raised goes toward the Glut1 Foundation to raise awareness, educate, and fund research. Here is a link to Will’s fundraising page… http://g1dfnd.ejoinme.org/Leiffer I would be forever grateful for anything you can give and would love for you to pass this on as well. Thanks, guys! - David
  23. I know smallmouth fishing in the rivers and creeks is tough once it gets cold. Even those boulders in moving water that always hold a fish in the summer don't in the winter... Frustrating! I've heard that stream fish head to the deepest pool they can get to in the winter and lay low. For part of the White that may be lake Sequoyah. However, I have also heard that they will wake up and get active on a warm sunny day even mid-winter so don't put away the ultralight!
  24. Buy both. Hickory Creek for the winter and Rocky Branch for a summer home.
  25. Troller trollers.
