  1. Try Charlie's Fly box for the pattern. Step by step instruction, I think it has 55 steps, so it is not a quick tie.
  2. I don't remember toe tagging mine. They are a WD40, thread color of choice, and barred duck as the tail/wing case. Tied on a size 20 hook. I usually fish it behind a heavy nymph under an indicator. I fished a black version behind a scud with a split shot between the two on Taney this past weekend and caught several using this method in the slack water between outlets 1 and 2.
  3. Greg, Yes, Use the herl as the hackle, Chartered Waters has a great selection of colors, I have yet to find one that is barred, though.
  4. Try using ostrich herl instead of partridge, I find it much easier to use on those small ones.
  5. Mailed mine today. By the way, I'll be in Branson Thur through Sunday and am thinking I may try to get out thur night to see firsthand what all the fuss is about, anyone planning on being there?
  6. Mine are ready to mail. It's a fly you all should have heard of, not too dificult ot tie, but I fish it a little different. I usually fish this behind a scud or heavy weighted nymph. I even put some floatant to keep it off the bottom. Zach, this is a top producer for me at the Illinois.
  7. Here, Here!! I saw this the other day as well, just didn't put it together that it was Beardon. Congrats Zach.
  8. I'll be there with the family, so fishing for me will be limited to the early morning or late evening. Probably just on Friday.
  9. I bought one as a backup. Can't go wrong, drag is as smooth as any other Ross.
  10. CC - those were taken in the new area "Lost Creek". I would also agree that the fish looked to be from the spawn they reported last year. After it was completed the ODWC said it could take a while for fish to habitate in the new section, from what I saw, the fish are thriving in the new environment. I also post on a board that is by a local fly shop at Beavers Bend, and yes, the opinions about the "improvements" are strong especially when it comes to the evening hole. The worst thing about this is the lack of enforcement of the regs. I saw a man with power eggs fishing not 10 feet from the sign that said they were prohibited in that area. When I pointed out the sign and what it said, he just said "oh" and walked to the other side of the sign.
  11. I fish the barstock on my 5wt Sage
  12. Dano, Those were taken at the Mountain Fork River in Broken Bow, Ok.
  13. I took these yesterday.
  14. How about trying to put a mechanic's lien on it for storage or something. Then you should be able to apply for a title with your lien in place.
  15. Call him Ishmael, that thar's Moby Dick. Nice fish Leonard!!!!! (even if you do need a better photo) How much did he weigh?
  16. I'm no expert, but I have had the Rio Grand on both my 4wt and 5wt and it was ok. My wife bought me a Rio Line for our anniversary and it was a DT and I haven't used WF since. Just my preference, but try it out and see what works for you.
  17. Very nice, thanks for sharing.
  18. What radio station is he on? I wonder if he streams over the web?
  19. I've stood next to him, and while I was pulling out the dinks, he was catching quality. While there are many different philosophies to catch fish, there are 2 basic, you can go for numbers or you can go for size. If you go for size you won't catch as many, but they will be bigger. IMHO, meet Leonard at Taney and see it with your own eyes, otherwise you are just talking about something you don't know about.
  20. 2 more things about the Sage, Lifetime Warranty and Made in America.
  21. That is insane! I'm glad that there is someone willing to do that so I don't have to. I have to agree about the feet on the groud, and will add above ground. I am sad at the loss of life with the recent cave in's in the mining industry, but I just can't see myself going miles into the earth to work.
  22. Zach - I have a 4wt 9' Sage Launch that I love on the Lower Illinois. I had a Rio Grand WF on it and switched to a DT recently and think it is even better. I think the rod is about $190.
  23. Now that's funny
  24. I was at the local outdoors store here and picked up a Ross Flystart for $45.00. No plastic and the drag is as smooth as the Rhythm. Only difference I have found is it is about 3/4 oz. heavier, but $200 lighter on the wallet.
  25. OK, I want to hear more about this pattern. I (pardon the pun) stumbled upon a pattern called the 'Wee May'. The Lower Mountain Fork in SE Oklahoma has nuerous BWO's that come off in a 22-26 size. The 'Wee May' is a simple tie, I use eithe coq de leon or microfibbits for the tail, and a CDC feather tied in at the back and wrappped forward, then looped over the body and trimmed to form the wing. A very effective tie for small hooks. If someone wants to run another swap I'd tie some up.
