Thanks guys, I didn't even think about Long Creek.

Can you guys suggest places where to rent a fishing boat on the lake in the dam area. We have a family trip planned for next week and my boat has a motor issue that may not be fixed by then. I am staying in little indian creek and did some looking around that area, I found some places for renting pontoons but no fishing boats. I saw that the state park has a lund style boat which is fine, just looking for any other rental places.

"Why the disdain for this method?" Because they don't want someone from "the city" coming to their lake and taking their money and going home. This kind of reminds me of fly fishing guys vs. spinning gear guys. Your are not a real fishermen until you fish the way I do.

I was down with a buddy and his son for the weekend. We didn't get out until around 9:30 Saturday. I wanted to start fishing for bass and had a 2.5 on my second cast with a jerkbait. My friends were not that interested in bass fishing so we ended that quest pretty quick and went after crappie. We started in Linn Creek and hit main lake docks, but would only get 1-3 per dock. Nothing in the pockets. Ended up with about 15 keepers. Sunday was much of the same except we did catch a couple out in the open, not around a dock. Ended up with 15 keepers by noon. Sunday was a better day and wished I could have stayed longer. It was harder to hold the boat in the correct position with the wind. Most of the docks were in 25' of water, all fish caught on jigs.

I have fished in the back of a boat with both Talon and PP. Neither time were they deployed, but it seemed like the pp's were not in the way as much as the Talons were. I may be biased since I broke 3 crankbait lips on the talons while casting.

I could not believe how tough it was. I fished three days, Long Creek, Kimberling City, and the James river and the only keepers were on Sunday. We caught shorts on warts, jigs, and ned. Keepers came on the ned.

We mainly kept the goggle eye. We did add a sunfish and a 14" crappie to the mix though. I rarely clean fish, but those google eye and that crappie were too good to pass up.

No, only fished Vermilion. That lake has so many places to fish, that we rarely fish the same place twice. What other lakes have you fished?

We are heading up to Vermilion the first week of June. I have been up there the last several years, it is a wonderful place for fishing. Can't wait.

I was on the lake two weeks ago and we caught and cleaned 12 over 1 pound each. Coming down this weekend too. If I catch any again, we will be cleaning them too.

Glad you hit them well. I tried with my wife and daughter wed - fri and it was tough. We had several keepers on wed, but the wind ran us off the lake thur and fri. The 8 year old was pretty cold.

I am taking the wife and daughter down 3/30 - 4/1 for some crappie fishing. Can anyone give some advice as to what is going on. I want to get the ladies on some fish. Also is there a place on the west side of the lake to get minnows? I am staying at Red Oak. thanks

Does the lakemaster chip work in lowrance? I thought they were only for HB.

MOsmallie, no I didn't fish that tournament this year. I don't plan on fishing the Pro/Am formats any more. To me, is just more fun fishing with a friend. I would suggest that if you don't have a boat and still want to fish tournaments that the Pro/Am format is a great way to learn lakes and meet some great people.
