  1. Had a fun night out with my son and some other guys doing a little kayak fishing. We had a big bass competition going, put on by Eric over at Ozarks Extreme Outdoors. Fished from 5pm to 9pm. The wind was blowing pretty good until about 6pm and then it was like glass the rest of the night. Was able to get a nice 17 1/4" large mouth on the Whopper Plopper. I also missed about 4 others on it. I also hooked a couple nice smallies on a black and blue jig. Unfortunately I got them right up to the kayak and they said goodbye. Fishing seemed to start out hot with that wind, but once the wind died down it was very tough. I'm sure I could have caught more on the Ned, but decided to focus on the Whopper Plopper and jig. Wish I could say I took first, but Richy, who is on this board all the time took that honor with a 18+" smallie. Great job Richy! I will get you next time. :-) Here is a picture of my LMB and a couple others of the scenery and my son. I love getting out and enjoying this beautiful lake we all get to enjoy. Such a blessing!
  2. Congratulations on your 2nd place finish. I agree with Champ above, once you start fishing tournaments its hard to stop. Nice fish and a great way to start out tournament fishing. You will probably be hooked now.
  3. I have been throwing the perch colored one and I know other guys are as well and having some success. I have the Loon and the Monkey Butt too.
  4. As with most things these days there are good and bad examples. I have seen some bad examples, but I wanted to share a good example that happened to me last weekend during our kayak tournament on Table Rock. I was fishing a cove and a bass boat with a couple guys pulled up. At first I was a little caught off guard and thought I was about to be encroached on, but the guys in the boat were very friendly as we chatted for a moment about how fishing was going and then one of the guys was nice enough to give me 4 War Eagle white slabs to use on a future outing. They were both very courteous and respected the area I was fishing and vice versa. Great sportsmanship and a great example of how we can all share this huge lake we are blessed to fish. That's one thing I love about this forum most of the time is the great sportsmanship that is shown on here and how everyone is willing to share. I have learned a ton from visiting here and look forward to continually learning and sharing my experiences. Good Fishing! Tyy
  5. Not a bad night. Thanks for the report.
  6. Gitnby, I need to take a picture of it fully loaded. I haven't done that yet. I have a Jackson Coosa HD with a pwc trailer to pull it. I will try to remember to snap a pic next time I'm out to show you. Where are you out of? You need to join up with our group at Show Me Kayak Fishing. Great group of guys and a great tournament circuit. This was my first year and I loved every minute of it. You can learn more by going to http://showmekayakfishing.org. Let me know if you have any questions. For those of you looking to buy a hog trough, I found the 1/2" foam tubing you can buy at Lowe's works great for putting in the little troughs on the back of it and gluing it in for making it float. I saw this idea online and it fits perfectly and looks great. Just another idea for you.
  7. Very Nice!
  8. Great report! Thanks for sharing. I was fishing that area on Saturday from a kayak. Probably saw you there. What did you get the walleye on?
  9. Thank you all! It was a great day. Phil, it is a Hog Trough that I bought at Ozark Extreme Outdoors. Dave, the Ned heads have been working great! That nice smallie was caught on one with PB&J. I'm about due to order some more. Highly recommend these to anyone wanting to fish the Ned rig. All I can say is I am ready to get back out there with this beautiful weather and the great fishing that is out on the lake right now.
  10. Had a great day of fishing yesterday in the MO-Yak Classic Championship on Table Rock. I took 3rd place and won Big Bass with a 19.75" large mouth caught on a perch colored Whopper Plopper. I also caught an 18.5" smallie on a PB&J Ned rig. All the rest of my fish were shorter and all came on the Ned rig. Lost another beauty on the Whopper Plopper too. It hit it 3 times, but I was a little to fast on my reaction and missed it all 3 times. BUMMER! Most of the fish came on chunk rock on secondary points and in the backs of coves. If you can find them chasing shad, that is the ticket. They were anywhere from 1 foot of water to about 15 feet of water. Great time to be out on the lake! Here are some pictures I took.
  11. Thank you Bill! Sorry for the slow reply. I actually didn't see your post until after we went. We had a good day on the water, but fishing was a little slow. Unfortunately my son didn't catch anything, but I caught a few. We did use the Ned rig and that is what I got mine on. My son wasn't very patient and being his first time out in the kayak, he wasn't to into it. I'm going back out with my other son this Saturday and he has been out before and liked it, so we will try it again. I will definitely try the techniques you shared and see how we can do. Thanks again!
  12. Plan on doing some kayak fishing with my son in the morning. We are putting in on Indian Point and fishing up Jacques Creek. Anyone have any fishing reports in this area? This is his first time out with me and I hoping to get him on some fish. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  13. Thanks for the report. Great detail!
  14. MOPanfisher, Dave recommended the 6'6" medium light St. Croix Eyecon rod to me for fishing the Ned rig and I love it. Great rod and feels great. Highly recommend that one.
  15. I second in recommending Dave's heads. I have had Ned rigs on his for days and not one problem. I have fished the same Ned rig a multitude of times over a two to three week time period and never had this problem. RPS's steps above are the way to go in my opinion too. Enjoy!
  16. Here is a tournament recap: https://showmekayakfishing.org/mo-yak-table-rock-lake-tournament-recap/. You can also like our Facebook page to keep up on what's happening. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Show-Me-Kayak-Fishing-Association/744798118944545?fref=ts. It was a great day of fun in the sun!
  17. ***SOLD*** Thank you all for interest and questions.
  18. I just left this message on another post, but if you are still looking for Ned rig stuff, check out Ozarks Extreme Outdoors just south of Silver Dollar City. I know Eric just got in a new order last week. You might want to give him a call before heading that way to make sure, but I know he ordered a bunch after selling out so fast the last time. I would highly recommend Dave's (dtrs5kprs) heads, but knowing that he is a few days out might not give you time to get those before your trip. Best of luck! Let us know how you do with the little guy.
  19. If you are still looking for heads check out Ozarks Extreme Outdoors just south of Silver Dollar City. He just got a bunch in this last week. They are the Finesse Shroomz heads from Z-Man and he had all colors and sizes when I last checked. Good Luck! I'm with the rest of the guys on here, the Ned rig works and is a lot of fun, especially when nothing else is working. For Table Rock I really like PB&J and Green Pumpkin, but I'm sure the other colors will work just fine. Let us know how you do. Enjoy!
  20. Thanks for the report! Were you using the smoke shad Yellow Magic? What size was it? I have been looking at purchasing a couple of those and curious what is best for our lakes around here. Thanks!
  21. Great report! Thanks for sharing. Love the Ned! Nothing beats time out with the family, especially when you are on the fish like that. Great job!
  22. Brian, both pontoons are 8 feet long. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for your interest. Scott, the pontoons themselves take up very little room. I have both the pontoons, the side bags, the back decks for storage, the aprons, fins and booties all stored in a 20" x 30" Rubbermaid. The frames break down nicely and are around 4' long and can easily be stored. The seat comes out and both sides are separate pieces. Once you put them together a couple times it is very simple to put together and take apart. Filling them up with air takes the longest, that is why I have a double action pump that comes with the Bronco or if you want both then you will be fine. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for your interest! Tyy
  23. These are still available if anyone is interested. I'm willing to sell them separately. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!
  24. Great report. Thanks for sharing and glad you had a great time at the lake.
  25. Sounds good Dave. Eric will be calling you. I will let him know you stopped by. He just got all his Z-Man stuff in this afternoon.
