I didnt like the taste of those big fish either... I like them around the 20-23in.... is perfect this was just over 25... but the kids loved it But when cook right they are AWESOME!!! Clean the fish... from the butt/belly.. up... (leaving the head on) and cut out the gills. take a bag of frito corn chips and crush them as much as you can Chop up a big red onion and mix with the chips cut 2 big lemons in 1/2 and squeeze the juice onto the chips and onions ... mix well... take 2 more lemons and slice the about 1/8in slices.. (can cut another lemon (thin) and put inside the cavity as well) a big peice of tin foil and butter it down good... lay your lemon slices in the butter season with some black pepper/salt/garlic powder place the fish on it stuff the "whole" cavity (head and all) as full as you can get it. roll the foil around it.. (note: may need to wrap a second piece of foil around it.. the get it cooked all the way through) Lay on the grill in med/low heat and cook... after about 15 minutes turn it and cook the other side.. feel the fish it should feel like a med/well steak when it done... (may need a few more minutes depending on size) This can also be done with 4 trout 16-19inches.... also try it with filets of.. crappie.. goggle eye.. walleye.. oh... skip the walleye... they taste better with jalap.pepper and bacon....

Saturday.. MEAT HUNTING.. caught 3 in the first 15 minutes using a PMS... (and to the stringer they went).. kept going for another hour catching about 15 more... back to camping to start a fire... well we walked the park and I kept fishing.... here and there.... by 4pm... I walk down to campground 2.. tossed in twice with the pms and had my 4th for the day..... sunday.... spinning rod.. start with the PMS jig.. and made my way down to campground 2. a few hook ups nothing for the stringer.... as I was wading up stream.. I hit this pocket and that.. not much happening.. and then THERE IT WAS!! I thought I saw a small shadow of a log... cst up above it.. a couple of twitches....... BAM!!!!! it was freaking ON!!!!! ********** a 6 1/2lb rainbow!!! ******* (and yes it was weighed at the office for those who REALLY want to know!) WOW I dont think Ive seen a night like that in a long time!!! Dawgsquat and I hit the water agian about 10pm.... Just shut the water off... We headed up to 1 and went through a few flies.. The top choice out of the gate was the Pine squirrel..... probably hit over 20-25 within the first hour and that when it was it slowest.... well the fog started to move in.... I changed over to a PMS and just slayed them... went for some coffee and found Centerpunch.... BS for a few minutes and took of to the Guanlet and was going to the big hole.. Just pass the big tree..... and they blow the horn (about 2am)... we walk back up to outlet 1 and Jerod got into a few... we worked our way down to outlet 2 and headed out around 4am WHAT A NIGHT!!

Fishing is really starting to pick up nice at night.... Lots of GREAT fish being caught . (Avg. 14-18in upward over 1 1/2 -2lbs)..... these fish are very FAT!!!! Wednsday night With 1 unit on all night I fish with James (from Republic) we changed flies often and picked up some really nice fish In high water I been drifting a PMS trailing a midge under a glow in the dark indicator... The are NAILING that PMS hard!! once the water drops the unweighted PMS kicked off the fun.... after a few changed over to a Hibernator and stuck with that the rest of the night I probably ended up catching close to 25-30 fish for the night (it was slow a few in between).... I started around 9 and left after 3am Last night.. I met up with dawgsquat around 10pm and we started in outlet 2 in high water the caught 1 fish on a roo bug... well they shut the water off just after 11pm.. and head up to the flats.. picked up a couple on the Mohawk Sculpin went to the car... YEP <------ insert a serving of special coffee here!!! well I met Dave and we chatted for a while and had a ball... Again... FAT FISH got some really nice ones on the Hibernator!!! well I think we ended up leaving somewhere close to 2 am.... ***** NOTE**** Lots of green moss on the bottom... it slick so be very careful when your down there!!

Phil is right.. If you know when and where... you can catch the taneycomo crappie by the buckets full I know first hand... there are there, they have been there for many years.... there are about a dozen good spot... and the size range from 13-17inchers.. and full of fight... If I was to make a guess.. probably less then 10 people knows of these spot... and I lke it that away..... SORRY.. Leonard PS... I found it years ago and yes .. their there!!

I want to thank all you guys... If it wasnt for you guys trying them ... then nobody would have got to hear about them.. **** you bet.. now I can really stock up on special coffee**** Thanks again everyone!! Leonard

bigdub is right.. jigs would probably be the #1 choice.... but dont leave out you rapalas, rouges and shad raps.... (stickbaits).... and if your fishing in the dam area... better bring some waders.. if you dont have any.. River Run outfiiters rents them... or think about buying a pair..

Just so you know that is not me... When I set up my rod its always at the pavillion... (Just seems brighter there..LOL) But the butts isnt the only issuse to worry about.... what about all the Line, beer cans, (this is a good one!) power bait jars, soda bottles, lure packages, and coffee cups....... and yes... I always see glo-stick everywhere... where someone was fishing the night before... Im guess soon we need to look into a upper lake clean-up.... ASAP!! maybe try to get some boats up there to hit the islands... (**** just a thought****)

I got there about 9pm... Respooled one of my spinning reels and by then .... Josh, Chris and (sorry I forgot his name) joined me.. we took off up toward outlet 1 and started with rouges and jigs Josh... started inoutlet 2 with the fly rod picking up a couple the bite fair... we had a few caught.. (maybe 10)... most on the PMS jig.... and since I didnt take the camera last night... we wont say anything about the 3lb smallie.... because we dont have a picture.... Leonard

when you cross the B65 bridge from Hollister in to Branson.. Look to the right and you will see Branson Landing (and Bass Pro)... Just under the Bridge use to be a big gravel bar.. Alot of people use to swim in there.. There removed it when the Landing went in.. I think this is the area your talking about...

LOL... Your still not looking close enough!!! We have painted the finger nail a teal green.... How can we flip you the bird.... When they call that the DUCK???
-
Average is the word for it...LOL.. Id say most of them were in the 15-17in range.. a few in the 12's... 2 browns... around 15-16in... the biggest one of the night was probably an 18in bow catch at outlet 1 on the PMS
-
I hit the about 10pm just as the shut it down to 2 units.. I headed up to outlet 1 and was going to throw the PMS.. my first was a big flash in the sky...LIGHTENING.. Never even saw the storm coming.. I did catch 2 on the PMS in less then 10 minutes... well I went to the pavillion and I was just going to fish outlet 2 until the light show stopped.. rigged the midge/sowbug dropper and that has to be the best fishing Ive seen out of the outlet in a long time.... Id say I got to outlet 2 just after 10:30.. and fished it till maybe 12:30.... probably caught a total of 25 and hits on about every cast.... all but maybe 3 fish came on the sowbug well by now the lightening was all around... so I headed to the house Leonard
-
I'll add this also.. I hit the water about 9:30 and the water was already dropping a little bit... 708. when I got there (4 units) About 10:30 it was really starting to drop out enough to start wading away from the tree line at outlet.. I started with a beaded PMS (olive) and caught a 6 within about 30minutes... as the water started to lower I started getting some short strikes so I switched to a Tungsten Beaded Hibernator (Olive/purple) pick up a few more.... switched to a black and purple and a couple more.... after about 20 cast or so and no more strikes I switched.. Next was a white Mohawk.... seem to be the fly of the night (opps.. for now)...... Probably did the best on it... picking up about 10 fish... Once the water shut complete off... It seemed like the fish shut off to... Leonard
