Leonard replied to Phil Lilley's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
Sweet fish.. Once it hits the plaster post a few pictures.. and who did it.. -
As of right now.... I started the process at the first of the year with chantix... by Feb it was one here and there....and then.. March 15, 2012... was the day I smoked my (hopefully) last cigarette.... Coming up on 3 months... Still not able to do much fishing... It looks like Im done for the year... going to be missing this falls brown run... still no word on surgery date.... but... they are saying at least 6 months recovery afterwards. There's always 2013 unless "Armageddon" hits at the end of the year... I think its gonna be a long year for me Leonard

7 years in... and my lowest tip was $40.. Ive got them as high as $150 (3 guys) I usually supply .. flies, leader, coffee, drinks, extra rods (for back ups) and a small box of thing most people dont think of, that would end a trip if you didnt have it handy... rod repair kit/ glue/ towels (in case someone falls in).. I have received ... clothing (guide shirts)... fly rods... reels.. fly lines .. maxima line (plus cash).. extra flies to test... and coffee creamer... lots of coffee creamer!! **** I love my Irish coffee creamer One night I was out there and about 7 other guys were out also.. nobody caught anything (even some of the night time regulars) ... the client caught 6 in 4 hours... he insisted he paid so I told him 1/2 price ... and still tipped $50... Now this is for wade fly fishing... yes I tye 95% of my own flies .... It just really comes down to how well the guide did... There are some awesome guides out there. Fish, Listen and Learn. And have FUN!

I think that PMS works on just about any fish! MAAAHHHHHHH WOW what a BLAST that was!! sighting fishing is amazing to see a beast like this eat a fly! *** May have to do this more often**** Thanks John for the picture...

Its a little to close to call.... news is saying (est 6in ) Over around Ark/Mo/Ok they saying possible upward around 10in... this could put Beaver at flood level. If they open the gates to flood Table rock or just to make room..Table rock should be (at 6 inches) around 922+ this is before Beaver opens the gates... Who thinks they should be preparing for this NOW?? next thing to remember.... it could go either way... more then 6in could be bad..

well... after father checking... this is a baby common snapping turtle... not the alligator... so even better... The baby alligator: has a more define spine... 5 rows is more of a ginger tan color shorter tail bigger top jaw... over laps the bottom the common snapper: has the average of three rows darker colored with white spots longer tails as a baby top jaw just a bit long but they come together

I think it is a really cute animal.... it came from the wild and now that I know he is alive and well... it will be going back here he is...
-
The other night I was out below powersite ... fishing was slow.. But I hooked into a small mouth . Got him to the bank... pick him up around the back to get ready to lip him...and remove the hooks. something falls out of his mouth and hits the ground... it sounded like a small rock. Ive cleaned many fish with odd things in them.. so not thinking twice about . as I leaned back toward the water... the rock moved... it is what I believe to be a baby alligator snapping turtle. It was about the size of a half dollar... Never seeing one this small.. and the state he was in.. I put him in a cup and brought him home... we now have a pet snapping turtle... but he will be released... Ill post a picture of him soon....
-
He is a great fisherman.... Ive seen times he was there and he was catching when other people wasn't The big big question is... wade or boat fishing.. Im guessing wading.... he could not afford the gas for his boat
-
Hey JIm... shout if your going be night fishing this time...
-
you tell him!!

there are so many different patterns for taney... Griffins Gnat is a great choice.... crackle backs fished wet or dry is great also... I like to use the yellow sallies and small stimulator .... Adams should start doing well... small mayflies should start coming off the water really soon... copper johns has been awesome all winter long.. bring a few heavy ones... few lightly weighted ones and some with no weight sculpins... olive...tan...ginger seems to be the hot colors right now.. leeches... depending on the time of day... earth tones ... black, olives, brown, tans and woolly buggers.. same ...... just add white and gray

Night fishing is starting to really get good... Temps are cool and the fishing is HOT! Friday night... started about 9ish... with a low 2 running I rigged a glo indicator with a Copper John and a egg... caught quit a few fish in very little time before they shut it down. I fished from outlet 2 down to the dead over hanging log. About mid way down in the rock piles( I thought I hung a rock) then it started to move and it was on! With a quick run out .. and a nice ZZZZZZING run down.. Here is that sweet little 23inch honey About the time I netted the fish Duane was pulling so he snapped the picture for me (Thanks!) well we messed around for a little until the water dropped out. So we headed down stream to the Rebar and Gaunlet to try a few of his new flies.. They catch fish for sure! Well I did end up switching mine over to a (#6) Black Uv Red Hibernator and started catching some nice ones... nothing over 17in All the trout right has the "Bright" rainbow color to them. Due to the pain... I had to head to the house ******** Saturday back out for a couple of hours... Had to Check out Duane's new flies in the daylight.. I was not disappointed they still caught fish... I messed around with those for a bit.. flipped a few sculpin helmets... tossed around the PMS and pounded the water with the Mood Swing... fishing was slow on big flies... but they all caught fish ***

made my way back over to powersite.. its hard to say if it was good or not.. got quite a few little walleye... but all short biggest was 17 1/2 then a few 16s.. and a couple of 15s... switched around colors a lot.... today I was using sliders.... slow rolling bumping the bottom.
-
I was on the forsyth side .... throwing a silver cloe (slow rolling it).. I got close to the bottom cause I ended up lossing 3 of them But all in all the dinner I had last night was well worth it... Walleye poppers are SOOOO good!!! made just like seahorses.. but substitute the shrimp for walleye walleye cut into 3/4inch cubes 1lb honey maple bacon 1 jar sliced Jalap Peppers toothpick take the bacon and peel 3 strips off (with out seperating them) you should have about 4 stacks of bacon with 3 pieces in each stack take a stack and on a flat surface rub it out till it is about a foot in lenght cut in thirds.. repeat with the rest... now seperate the bacon in rows, take the walleye cubes and place a piece on the bacon, add a slice of pepper (or 2 ..1 one each side of the meat.. roll bacon over the fish and pepper. pierce with toothpick (or grilling skewer) ********season.. best thing to do is get a bottle of McCormicks Fish and seafood seasoning and just start making it to taste..add a little sprinkle of garlic salt or powder grill.....
-
I made a quick run to powersite... I was not disappointed!!! Withing the first 10 minutes I had a 19in walleye... then a couple of small trout and a big ol carp (about 15lbs)... right before I headed out the finally 15 minutes.... caught 2 more walleyes one 23.. the other 24inches...caught them all on a 1/4oz silver cleo ... I did see a couple other guys catching them too.. now time to make lunch!
