  17. then somebody might want to tell them that.. Because they are still there!! we caught 3 more so far this weekend But your right Dennis.. Walleye are very rarely caught in Taneycomo.,... Although this year has been a AWESOME year for the "eyes" on Taneycomo Leonard
  18. going on three years we've met at Taneycomo on New years day.... This is making me hungry (and I was eatting as I was reading>>>) The would make for an AWESOME get together on Table Rock....... having a big ol'daddy boil with some homemade tater salad, smoked bbq ribs and what ever else we could think of.. (QUESTION: when did you guys think is the best time (as flavor goes) to trap craw dads?) Leonard

  20. Taxi.. Everyone on here just posted there opinion.. I dont think anyone here is going to hunt this man down and beat him with a baseball bat because he kept a fish. there is one thing that I see every year here on taneycomo.. Alot of DEAD brown (22-30). People catch them, play them to death and then try to release them. Yes more of the bigger fish should be taking out.. Simple fact after a 20-30 and even 45 minute fight (on 6 and 7x tippet) for these fish will cause them to die. ******* revive them if you can...... if not take them out******* I know there are alot of guys (and gals) who has mounts on there wall on this board. Honestly... If I had caught that fish and it didnt recover I would have taken it myself. I have followed fish for 30 mintues to make sure they had recovered and even came back later to check on them. (over the last few years the DO levels were DEADLY low.. and it cause a lot of fish to die after being caught.) If I understand some of the story the "ol'timers" tell around here on Taneycomo... back in the early 80's (maybe earlier) a 5 fish limit would weight 50-60lbs ( yes 5- 10lb trout). I have seen 1 mount that is like this total weight of the 5 fish was 53lb and 8oz. (All rainbows)
  21. Here is the picture.. Rick Spegal, from Bowling Green, Missouri, caught a 25 pound brown trout down stream from Lilley's Landing Resort & Marina. He caught it on yellow and orange gulp powerbait on 6 lb line. It was 34 inches long.
  22. SWEET picture guys... Looks like alot of fun!! Hey Ducky.... I see in all those photo everyone all bundled up like it was 30 degrees out there and then there is you... BIG FISH... BIG SMILE... AND A SHORT SLEEVE SHIRT.. did that fish make you sweat.. or are you just getting use to the weather there? Leonard
  23. Hey Rich.. Ive seen alot of mounts... some good.. some great and some that doesnt even look like the fish. Yes all fish are different in shape/size/color. Im a full believer in finding local "guys" to give business too. you have Brett Rader.. Ive seen some AWESOME mounts come out of his shop. then the is also Walt Phelps.. http://www.ozarktaxidermy.com/home.html Probably the best work Ive even seen. Right down to the "purple" mark on a big brown. I know the are others in the area. But like I said Ive seen some the looks like a piece of glass.. Talk to Michael find out who did Rick's mount (that was an AWESOME mount)..... I think that was the actually fish right? compare some of the mounts in his shop to each other. I think he knows who done alot of them. But FORESURE... If your going to have a mount done make sure the guy you are going to deal with knews what he is doing!! As for as a replica you will need quite a few shots (about 10-15 photos). find any marks that are unuseally to the fish. head shot (a nice close up)... with the eyes, mouth, and possible a front face shot. a full body shot. sometimes taken a shot of both side of the fish helps. (to find the best side of the fish a shot of the tail (for a nice detailed mount) ofcourse the lenght and girth Remember to do this as quickly as possible.. the fish is already stressed out.. keep the fish in the water as much as possibly.. Leonard

    Walleye....

ok... here it comes.. After one heck of a year of catching walleye from Taneycomo.. A grand total of 22 most of them were 22-29 inchers I tried this and WOW... was it awesome. As some of you know I do this with shrimp and call them seahorses. so here it comes... 1 (24in) walleye filleted a jar of Jalapeno pepper (Mezzetta HOT) bacon (Honey maple or Applewood) take the fillet and cut them down the lenght of the fillet in half. Next cube them in about 3/4 to 1 inch squares. take about 3-4 slices of bacon (keep them together) and lay them on a soild flat surface. Now with your hand try to stretch the bacon on the counter top. flip and repeat. cut into thirds. in a criss-cross pattern lay 2 pieces of bacon out. Next place a nice size piece of pepper onto it and then a cube of fish. ** Here you can ad a second peice of pepper**** then fold in the pieces of bacon and place it on a squeer/ toothpick. Grill until the bacon is done... Then ENJOY!!!! Got to go and get my walleye of the grill...... will post a picture after it off...... If I dont eat it first..LOL Leonard
