Thanks for the input guys ! I guess I should of stuck back in the creeks. That was actually the place I least expected to find them. Seemed like the main lake was holding so much bait that it was the place to be. I was in my treestand Saturday morning and I knew a tourny was going on with all the boat traffic at sun up !

up early and on the water, It could not have been a better morning. Put in at Hartley the water temp was 74 degrees. Sunny but no wind. Fished steep banks, chunk rock, gravel, points, secondary points, flats, back in coves middle of coves, deep water. Pretty much everywhere. Caught 1 keeper on the Spook, 1 on a shaky head and 2 shorts on crankbait. The fishing was just awful ! I cast my arms off. We had fish almost jumping in the boat but very few bites. Shad and minnows were everywhere so I guess they had plenty to eat. I would find the bait but it seemed like no fish ? Even on graph I would have huge schools of bait fish but no game fish ??? If anyone was on them this weekend and have any tips I am all ears !

I would take $150

Finally got up to the lake for the weekend. I have been traveling and allowing life to keep me off the lake ! Got out Saturday morning and headed to a nice steep bank, the water looked real high to me. (I have not been on lake in 4 weeks) Threw out my New favorite color Norman (sexy shad top - chartreuse green bottom) and caught a keeper on the 2nd cast. I was able to catch 2 off the steep bank on the crankbait and one more on a spook. The next 2 hours I cast my butt off for notta. I started trolling for eyes and caught 1 small walleye on Flickr Shad. The Flats were packed with boats but it did not look or sound like anyone was doing any good out there. Decided to head out to some deep coves with the kids to swim and then.....I seen a huge school of bass surfacing. Dropped wife and 3 girls in their noodles and trolled back to them. I was able to catch 3 nice bass, all keepers in about 7 casts and then they were gone. Sunday I cruised around just looking for schools at top and on fishfinder. Had one school breaking surface and was able to catch 1 on Spook. Found 2 more big schools and only caught one 15" on a ratl trap. I seemed to get one long cast at them with the Spook and then they were gone. If I could hit the spot it wsa fish on. Also caught the ugliest small mouth I have ever seen. Man these Stockton smallies are ugly representaions of a usualy sexy fish. I am confused why they are so black, they are nowhere near the nice bronze gold smallies you catch on the Rock and about everywhere else. The schools were out in 25-40 foot of water near humps and channel breaks. I was often chasing them in over 50 foot of water. The pros seem to be able to find them and stay on these schools. I have no idea how. After 2-3 casts they seemed to just vanish! Tough fishing but it was nice to get on the water and as a new bass fisherman it is always fun to learn a new technique or pattern. water was 81 degrees. Some guys said the whties have been coming up in the evenvings but it has been hit or miss. I did not see any sign of them on Saturday. Only fished Sunday morning. PS - Why do powerboats and jet skis have the need to drive through the fishing flats on Stockton? When you see 10 fishing boats in the same general area MAYBE, JUST MAYBE you could drive around this area versus directly through it ??????

That is ridiculous. I can not imagine. If your gonna take the time to cut it up, you might as well fillet it ! Someone like this usually will be braggin to some other white trash poacher not sportsmen like we have on this site. I will keep eyes and ears peeled. I got a new pair of Nikons I can get right in your face from across the lake.

Hard to beat So many times I go walleye fishing and hammer the bass, go bass fishing ang catch walleyes. Stockton usually provides you just might need to shift gears once you start fishing.

I need to throw the spinnerbait. It is one of those lures I just have 0 confidence in. I was gettin bit real good on the topwater in the morning. Do you throw the spinnerbait all day long ? First light etc.

water temp was 72 - 74 where I was fishing BUT when I jumped in, I can GUARANTEE YOU it is not 72 degreed about 6-8 foot down. Thwe water is still pretty darn chilly 2-3 feet below the surface.

Nothing in the world I like doing better then throwing topwater lures and catching fish. The Spook was on Fire all weekend epsecially Saturday morning after the rain. I do not keep count if I do not have them in the livewell but at one point I caught 7 fish on 8 casts and had a follower jump up and hook himelf on a spook haning of the side of the boat. I think they were liking it. At lunch every boat at the Marina had one tied on, if not 2 or 3. Bite was coming close to the boat in about 10-12 feet of water but they were following it in from the banks. I had a LOT more luck with the middle size spook in a SUNFISH pattern then the my ole trusty Large Frog color. Monday, I was getting a little tired of taking the moss off the Spook so I decided to pull out a frog. I have never fished a frog before but i bought the combo pack from BPS a longt tiem ago. I would throw it in the moss and then hang on tight !!! What a thrill, I will be fishing the frog from now on. Nothing huge but the bites were ferocious. They were just engulfing the frog. Too much fun... The walleyes are shallow off almost every point. Jig and a worm. Did not fish them for long but was able to go each day and get 2-3 in about an hour or so of fishing for dinner each night. NO SHORTS ? I have only caught 2 walleye this year that was not a keeper ! Had one monster walleye take a big swipe when I was reelng in about a 10 inch bass. That fish was never so thankful for being hoooked. It looked like an alligator coming up to eat him and I have seen some Monster Walleyes in my day. I reeled my other short bass in reeeeaaaaal slow the rest of the weekend : ) I only fished in the AM and went and joined the boaters and swiimers for the rest of the day. Each day for an hour or so I would set the girls up with a bottom bouncer and a crawler harness and over the 3 day weekend they caught everything the lake has to offer. Crappie Cat, Walleye, Smallie, Biggie, Bluegill, White bass, and a few drums. They had a blast. It is always exciting to see kids catch fish. Bounced 15 - 20 feet of water, away from the traffic when possible. ON A SIDE NOTE - I think I caught a spotted bass on Stockton, I will upload pic. I did not think this lake had any ? NO worries though I put him in the livewell and ran him down to Table Rock. I am off to Disney and the Bahams for the next 2 weeks, Get out there !

Thank You - nice to tuck the kiddos in that deep V when that Stockton Wind starts to blow and we are usually at the Dam needing to get back to Roark. I used to have an older bass boat but too many back breaking, hair rasing trips across Stockton, I had to go Deep V.

Let me check for sure, I am pretty sure it is Medium action, fast tip ? I really like the set up but I am starting to move back to spinning rods and want to sell this to buy a falcon spinning rod.
