  1. Sorry for the wait. Yes, I did get my flies. Thank you Mic.
  2. Mine should be in the mail by monday.
  3. Mic, I think I will be doing Cheech Leeches for the swap, if the trout people are ok with another streamer.
  4. Sorry, to be clear I was talking about a sink tip fly line, and not separate sink tips.
  5. Quick question, what weight or line size of sink tip is best for a fast action 7 weight? Thanks!
  6. If only. I have finals to do this week, so fishing has been on the back burner lately
  7. I would love to see some of those flies in some fishes mouths.
  8. So that was you! Finally I can put a face to a name. I tied the Cheech Leeches on the bottom left corner. Congrats!
  9. Mic, if the trout spot is still open, I would love to tie!
  10. Started off using The Egg and Caught this solid fish right off the bat. Then a few casts later I caught his little brother. This big sunfish succeeded in hooking himself on The Egg. After the sunfish, the bite shut off and I didn't catch a thing for the rest of the evening. I think I found one of my new favorite lures too!
  11. After rereading this whole thread today, that is what I was thinking.
  12. Polarized Maui Jims are some of the best fishing sunglasses I've used.
  13. I know what you mean about the buff fogging your glasses. If you wear a wide brimmed hat, that should eliminate the need to pull the buff over your nose. I burned so bad last year (6 hours baking in the Bahamian sun) that I have what appears to be scar tissue and lots of freckles on my shoulders. Definitely made me more aware about my skin health.
  14. I started out 3 years ago at Roaring River. Some guy hooked a trout right in front of me and let me fight it and reel it in. After that I went home and bought the cheapest shakespeare fly rod I could find. Went back the next week and only caught one trout on a blue Copper John. I then got a fly tying kit for my birthday 2 years ago which really fueled my addiction. Thinking back, if it wasnt for the kindness of the man who let me reel in his fish, I wouldnt even know the slightest thing about fly fishing or fly tying.
  15. Brian, I know the correct hook placement for the jaws. The standard jaws refuse to hold size 12 and size 16 hooks no matter what configuration I tried. I did not send the vise in but opted to order the midge jaws and they hold those sizes rock solid. The midge jaws are essentially the same smooth flat surface like on the standard jaws. The midge jaws will hold the hook solid in the same position the standard jaws wouldn't which leads me to believe that there is a problem with the standard jaws. Nothing but good things to say about the midge jaws so far.
  16. I'm planning on heading down Saturday morning. Whats been working? Is there a streamer bite? Hopefully the river wont be blown out with the rain we are supposed to receive tomorrow. Thanks for the help!
  17. Nice! Cats are always fun on the long rod.
  18. I saw this too. It doesn't make any sense to me.
  19. I use scud and shrimp hooks. I am also partial to Ice Dub as my dubbing.
