  1. The wife and I are thinking about heading over for an afternoon of fishing. Not really familiar with the lake though. Can someone point me in the direction of a public access near Shell Knob that has decent shore fishing? Thanks.
  2. Really wish this forum were a bit more active. I know I am early but when do you typically see the cats start to move up river?
  3. I have jumped a few deer while fishing. Hoped that meant there was a good population.
  4. I may have to bring my stick flinger out that way....
  5. Just curious, I know CC is open to bow and muzzle but I have never seen any hunters while fishing there. I have seen a few deer though. So have you seen people hunting there? How were they set up?
  6. I had a jug disappear just last weekend at cedar ridge.
  7. What was everything biting on? I am about to head out to cedar ridge.
  8. It does thank you. I like to fish for anything that will bite a hook honestly. Where about are these flats?
  9. Well, either I'm getting more convincing or my wife is simply wearing down because I finally talked her into a boat this year. It isn't much and its older than I am but it floats and starts. So my question is, I am new to boat fishing Stockton, what are some pointers and things to keep an eye out for? We normally camp at Cedar Ridge so I will probably keep to that area for our first outing. I want to keep it between 245 Bridge and the large point that leads into Maze Creek. Any hidden water dangers to look out for? Best areas to plink around in? We are planning to head down on the 2nd and make a weekend of it. If you see a yellow 72 Strahm then stop and say hello! Odds are I will probably need a tow back to shore anyway. I named her "Yellow Submarine" for a reason!
  10. I know this is a little off topic but does anyone know of a good marine mechanic in the Joplin area? I believe I need my carbs rebuilt on a 72 evinrude and am not comfortable tackling this myself.
  11. If you pass that bridge and go to the second bridge, walk upstream from that bridge and you will catch some.
  12. I have caught several in in the lower access. Just throw a bumblebug near some reeds. Most are 6"-10" so don't expect too much.
  13. Nobody has ever fished this lake before?
  14. I am planning a camping/ fishing trip to pomme in mid-late june. I have never been to pomme so any advice is appreciated. I will be shore fishing and we are looking at camping the river and driving to the lake. We have given stockton 3 chances but can never catch a thing. I wont be fishing for anything specific but will bring my cat pole and may rig it up for the elusive muskie. Like I said, any advice would be appreciated.
  15. Im surd the weather had quite a bit to do with it but out of 4 people we fished Friday through Sunday and only got 3 small fish.
  16. Think again! EVERY spot I drove to is inaccessible. Until the water drops it is like trying to fish through a mangrove swamp.
  17. Thanks for the tip. May have to swing by the marina and grab some tomorrow. Just bobber fish them or what? Also, anyone getting any cats yet? I have been leaving lines out overnight but no nibbles...
  18. Fished sun up to sun down and only caught 2x 6" bass! Everyone else is having amazing luck but I can't catch a cold. I am shore fishing cedar ridge and tomorrow is my last afternoon here. Would really like some advice. Caught my bass on a rebel craw. Didn't have any second glances at other cranks, spinners, anything. What am I missing?
  19. Well I must have sh*t luck then..... I started fishing cedar ridge around 3 and didn't have a bite all day. Sure was windy though! Maybe the sun will bring them in tomorrow. What are your thoughts on catfish?
  20. Ok, novice fisher with no boat. Going to be bank fishing cedar ridge. Just wondering if I am missing any "must haves." I have more than I will list but the best that comes to mind are.... about 15 rooster tails (my go to lure) yamasenko worms pumpkin, rebel ultralight craw, few shad cranks, catfish accessories, rebel helgramite, few jiggs that I apparently don't know how to use correctly. Missing anything? Also, can you use fresh cut bluegill on stockton?
  21. Do you think shoal will be warm enough to fish tomorrow? It says 80+ degrees but I imagine flowing water after a rain takes longer to warm.
  22. I got it at Southtown Sportinggoods in Joplin. I figured it looks real to me and hopefully I am smarter than a fish. Some days anyway....
  23. I am new(er) to fishing so forgive me for asking newb questions. I am dedicated to fishing more this year and becoming better at it. So anyway, I have lived in Joplin my whole life but never realized that you could actively catch fish out of shoal creek. None worth bragging about anyway. Anyone care to share some good tips on fishing this creek with no boat and without buying expensive equipment (waders, fly rod, etc.) Also, what can you expect to catch in shoal creek?
  24. Never used it so I suppose I will just have to experiment and see what works best. I will let everyone know what I learn.
  25. Like this but I got the black/brown. http://www.lurenet.com/productdetail.aspx?id=5089
