What a weird year!!! Teal season was one of the best I have ever been a part of. Not only did we see lots of teal, but my 7 year old began going with me which made the trips even better. I also got my young pup on several retrieves. Best hunt of the year was the last day of teal season. No one else wanted to go, so just myself and my son went. Saw lots and limited out in less than an hour.
Regular duck season was pretty much a bust. Killed a few before the major front in early November and then it was like someone turned off the lights. Tried to hunt different days but rarely saw a duck.
Finally got to take a pilgrimage south into Arky land in early January. Had two fantastic days of hunting, but had to stay on the rivers due to the woods freezing up. The second day I believe I saw almost every duck imaginable fly through the decoys. Final day to hunt, we woke up to freezing rain and our buddy told us we better head home. A normal 2.5 hour trip took 4.5-5 hours due to the conditions. If we would have waited around, it probably would have cleared up, but instead we drove right on the edge all the way home.
Again, a weird year all the way around. I appreciate all the reports and pictures. I enjoy reading and seeing the beauty that God has put before each and everyone of us. I apologize if I don't report enough, but living where I do, there usually isn't a lot to brag about.
Hope you all have a great "off season" and here's to a great spring turkey season and great fishing until next fall...
