  1. Not saying your lying...just amazed at the price. Thats the deal of the century...Use it for whatever you like...Should make some sweet looking catskill & parachute style dry flies...or use it for whatever else you like..wooly buggers, cracklebacks...anything else you wrap hackle on. Cheers.
  2. $55 and good cree....just doesnt make much sense...I'd suggest that you sell it to Steven Tyler on eBay as fast as possible and make do with the feather you have..
  3. Best to you Phil. Justin & Amy are OK, but I the fishes are currently holding school in the Dead Drift Fly Shop..
  4. Glad you enjoyed the pics...well be down again in a couple weeks for kids day and it will be fun to float and see what has changed. It should drop out soon, but I'd avoid the place unless it gets down to 3.5-4.0 at Akers with no rain in the forcast for a couple days...forget about any dry fly action till it drops to 2' or so. Cheers.
  5. Here's the list...be safe out there. http://mostateparks.com/advisories
  6. Thats good news....I was hoping that he'd make it out.
  7. I dont think its gonna be that bad...we had more water in the Spring of 2008...and that flood didnt change things all that much...some new wood in the water, and some clean gravel bars for awhile but that was about it. Heres a link to some statistics. Cheers. http://wdr.water.usgs.gov/wy2010/pdfs/07064533.2010.pdf
  8. Picked some on my way to Monauk this weekend and some folks out picking at Montauk this weekend, so there should be some around Overland Park. Go look, you have nothing to lose. Cheers.
  9. We got down Wednesday & left in a hurry on Saturday AM...looked like everyone made it out in time. Not an experience I'd like to repeat...We were in campsite 250 with a good water view...came up about 3' in the hour it took us to get hitched up & on the road. Starting to come over the White Oak hole bridge as we were on our way out at 5am. A couple pics from this weekend. Thursday AM rocked...fished for about two hours and the big ones were on the prod. Around 15-20 fish...4 better than 18", best around 22". Ended the morning with a 20" or so male that was badly hooked..ate the whole enchilada and had hooks embedded in its throat, tongue, and eyeball..Wouldnt have been a good release so that ended my morning. Then some fishing in the park with the kids. My oldest reeled in 5-6, and the youngest reeled in her first. Oldest is learning to cast. Friday fishing was poor. Stayed in and tried to get the kids up for the buzzer but they wanted to puddle splash & explore instead.... got em to the water around 9am and they lasted about an 45 minutes with no action..Time for something else so we drove down to Welch after lunch and hiked up to the spring....Took a rod and caught a couple on a crome Kastmaster spoon...need to fish that lure more often. Other than the evac...it was a fun weekend. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/fbx/?set=a.1850250909830.101933.1647470288&l=100f262da6
  10. Best to you and everyone else......Its a scary feeling....We were down at the campground at Montauk on Friday night. The evacuation order came around 4:15 am on Saturday morning. Looked like everyone made it out in time.

    Great Day!

Sitting in the rain right now reflecting on a great day. Stellar AM fishing! Then some fishing with the girls. My oldest realed in 5-6 today and my soon to be 2 year old reeled one in too! Trout in foil with fresh picked morels, coleslaw, taters and onions tonight.
  12. I'm not familiar with that.
  13. Thanks for the tip.. Its a family trip so I'll just have to see whats going on when an opportunaty presents itself....Hoping to get a couple hours on the river before breakfast or after dinner, but who knows...Might be soaking cheese in the park with my little girls the whole time. Cheers.
  14. The fishing on the NFoW was pathetic in the early 2000's but its gotten allot better. Wild rainbow counts were probably less than 100 per mile back then. I'm not sure what the counts are like now...but it doesnt seem that the river has bounced back completly yet...Think it used to hold around 900 wild rainbows per mile...but that was over 20 years ago. It might take awhile to get there again or it might not get there at all. I think the habitat has changed quite a bit. Seems there is more snot moss in the water during the summers and I'm not sure what causes it...Inadequate Sewer System in Mountain Grove, leaky septic from all the development along the river, more cows and wells pumping water out of the aquifer. Dunno for sure. It was never known for huge rainbows though. I've seen some nice ones caught over the years (18-22") but those fish are pretty rare...A 15"er still makes my day. Cheers.
  15. Looks like yall had a good time!....Any cahills popping in the PM?....its about time...if it happens. Headed down Wednesday-Saturday.
  16. Some nice fly rod fish...Thanks for the report!
  17. The deputy might be this guys kin...you never know.
  18. You were definitely not tresspassing. Set up a tent next time and wait for the deputies.
  19. Think I've had my fill...been to busy to mess with more than a pan full now & then...the darn things have been accumulating!. Major yard work and we cleaned out the fridge this afternoon... Morels for lunch... Tossed all I had...4-5lbs in a big skillet with a stick of butter, and some S&P...Yum! Saved the remaining "morel" flavored butter and did up some quarterd fresh brussel sprouts this evening..it rocked along side our lamb chops & taters this evening.
  20. Glad you enjoyed it....been using somthing similar for years before I found this article.........picked it up by watching people fish in the trout parks..The Meramec Springs waggle jig, the Bennett crackleback bounce, Tom Morgan's article spells it out better than I could...Smack it within 6" of the bank, really short jerks, with a stop...works great at times. Sometimes not...
  21. Thats a great river greenie. Congrats!
  22. Very nice! Looks like your one of the fellows who caught "Happy Ending"...Dont put your trip off till summer Cricket...Spring is the time to head down there and Justin's rates are very reasonable. Summertime fishing can be very frustrating down there..Especially when the river is low and the snot moss gets bad. Cheers.
  23. Try the Morgan twitch.... http://www.troutrods.com/morgantwitch.html
  24. Fantastic haul BD.... All mine have come off of live elm trees this week...mostly big ones...but I got several off a small elm this morning.Ash, sugar maple, cottonwood, tulip poplar...are all good...finding the first one is the hard part then more will appear..Look at some youtube morel hunting videos to tune your eyes up...
  25. A see a ROLF and Sunburst fued a brewing! Nice catch!
