  1. There are no bad floats...but Akers to Pulltite doesnt offer quality fishing...Its much better above and below. I float Akers to Pulltite at least once a year...and there arent many fish there. Fantastic scenery though.
  2. Round to Two Rivers is a nice float...so is Two Rivers to Logyard...might see a few jet boats though.
  3. But you've been willing to donate a boat to the river before.
  4. It's not a good precident....but its kinda hard to care about a man who's had that kind of track record. Hope he has fun in prison.
  5. The Jack's can be good...its 1>18" limit smallmouth water between Buck Hollow and Alley Spring so there are fish there...The problem now is low flow...48cfs at Alley..you will drag allot at the present level.
  6. Its $80 for a resole at Gravois Shoe Repair. They did a good job on my wife's wader boots...any Vibram Shoe repair dealer should be able to resole with Vibram Stream Treads. I'd resole if the waders are in good condition. Not aware of any bootfoot waders that come with Vibram Streamtreads...so you might be looking at boots and waders if you decide to buy new. Good Luck.
  7. You gotta point FW...cook anything in that mix....and its gonna taste the same;>)...To much gas to get a fresh one JD...but if you kill a few...I'll come down and cook some...or I could make 10-15 quarts of good gumbo...and go fishing...forget about the dillos.
  8. It usually dries up above that Ford...most of the flow comes in downstream about a hundred yards. I'd still wait till it cools down.
  9. Here you go: I'ts from an old cajun cookbook...I've never tried it but the Guist brothers on Swamp People eat stuff like this. Prepare your dillo: Place dillo on its back. Cut off head, tail and feet, remove belly skin. Pass a knife around the shell and remove. Then clean, similar to a turtle. Wash & scald the meat, remove all excess fat. Cut in pieces. 3lbs Dillo Meat 2 onions chopped 1 bell pepper chopped 2 cloves garlic minced 2 sticks celery chopped 1 stick butter 1/2c parsley chopped 1T flour 1T Worchestershire Small can of mushrooms 1/2c Red Wine Creole Seasoning to taste S&P Add butter to a dutch oven, season meat with creole season, and fry until browned. Add all veg and fry until onions are translucent 5 min or so. Add Wine and Mushroom Juice, cover and simmer until tender, add water if needed. Remove meat from pot...mix flour and water to make a smooth paste Add flour mix to pot along with parsley and mushrooms. Cook down to a smooth gravy...add water if needed...about 5 minutes. Pour gravy over meat, serve with rice... My Argentine buddy claims that its pretty good BBQ'd.
  10. Got a recipe for dillo if your interested.
  11. I agree..Andy @ Route 66 is always accomodating..
  12. Nothing tops watching your kids catch fish. Good on you!
  13. Boiling Spring CG on the Gasconade...decent CG and great location..
  14. Outside Bend...is one of the guys doing some work on that study..Met him years ago, well before grad school. A+ fellow in my book...Think he can take a joke, but I've never made one at his expense. If he's willing to share here...I'd keep my ears open.
  15. Heck with trout.plenty of that nearby...but Rochester MN...is really close to the upper Missippi...great smallmouth fishery. You will want a boat...small jon, big canoe, or a drifter. Have fun.
  16. Did a stretch of the G. Nade on Thursday..no real rise anywhere...hit the faster shallow water with a popper, walk the dog plug, or a buzzbait. The bottom is probably still to scummy to mess with plastic. Good luck.
  17. The Meramec is only up 6"....not much rain at all in Mid-Mo...
  18. Its fun for a bit......but whats that illness you get from inhaling bat guano?
  19. Mitch, you dont need a roadmap ;>)!...Lots of aluminum on the tops of rocks...and all the unattended and unlabeled limb lines in the area....were a problem...the Conservation Officer in that county needs to start taking care of business down there. River needs a good flush...would love to fish it when its up and the bottom is clean. Really scummy yesterday...might be fun on Wednesday or Thursday are if your back in town.
  20. I can see a need for a gallon bottle in the Hotel/Bar/Restaurant industry...but for home use?.Why do you need so much, if you dont mind me asking?
  21. Good float with Stoneroller yesterday. Covered quite a few miles in the new boat...and caught smallmouth on walkers & poppers all day long. They wanted nothing else and the bottom was too mossy to mess with plastic. Several nice fish in the 15" range. Finally got on the board for the Missouri Smallmouth Challenge...16.5" on a reliable measuring device. Other than a brutal headwind...no complaints. Coupla pics...
  22. Glad you had a nice trip! Cant wait for pictures.
  23. Plan an escape route...and bring some extra supplies. You might be there awhile...Happened to a few buddies of mine when the upper Current rose 11' one evening in early January. They ended up spending two extra days on the river with no beer and little food, Not happy campers.
  24. We got flooded out down at Montauk with the kids in tow in April of 2011....not fun. Think I'd wait for the rain to stop before I'd head down for a riverside campout...5-6 inches in the forecast.
  25. If you dont plan to toss half a chicken at em...I'd go with a 7wt...should handle your average sized pike, and any smallmouth that you'd encounter....If big pike are in the mix.toss that caster. Figure out what flies your bringing then go try some rods...see if they work for you with what you intend to bring.
