  1. 60lbs isnt bad for an 11' SOT....Looks like the Cuda is a bit longer 14'3" and 75lbs or so..The weight is more of an on off the car issue imo..Its been years since I've encountered a situation that required a significant portage. Cheers.
  2. You might want to wait on the Coosa.
  3. Another great one!
  4. Hah! I'm swimming in kiddo junk. My wife shops, so do the grandma's...you are welcome to take your pick of the stuff you want to store after my wife sells off what she can...Gonna call one of those pick it up charities for what is left...Inventory it, take some photos, price it, run a tape & deduct it....Probably a better return than the $ from the sale, but I wont tell my wife that. Cheers.
  5. Have some pictures? Depending on the rod...a rewrap may be in order. Its pretty easy to do, but you dont want to destroy original wraps on a rod with any collectable value.
  6. Sale is done...over...Thanks!
  7. Is this the spot?
  8. Gov. Nixon aint so bad..he's one of the few dem's that I've voted for several times.
  9. If your worried about safety & courtesy, you probably arent the one who needs to worry about anything....I'll have words with the inconsiderate, be kind to the curious, and ingnore the oblivious. Cheers.
  10. Solid advice above...Jerbaits & Streamers seem to work best at dawn, dusk, and after dark...but mid-day can be tough...Lots of bows in the Blue ribbon right know so inlines, and small kastmaster's should keep the boys busy mid-day...Maybe toss in some sculpin colored marabou jigs in the 1/8oz range. Big Bushy dry flies work well this time of year too.Hoppers & Crickets are my two primary choices....toss them under overhanging bushes, in the shade lines, and bounce em off the bluff faces. Long leader...14-16' tapered to 4x.....Madame X in various colors is a good one...usually size 4-8....fish a beetles..#10-16, crackleback #12-16, or ant to fish that look but refuse an X...No need for a dropper...It usually makes for two flies fished badly, and Current River browns have seen it all. Possible trico action in the AM (28-24), and there are always some small tan caddis flitting about (16-18 mostly). Have a great trip.
  11. Looks like some darn good times Hank!...great family fun.
  12. Looks like a nice trip...gotta love that hobo pie & mac...good stuff.
  13. Looks like a great time! Enjoyed the photo's.
  14. Scary stuff....glad your all OK.
  15. Holschlag's Smallmouth Book You will want too add this to your book collection too..I dont use a sinking line for smallies...They usually arent very deep when they are in the mood to eat, and sinking lines arent that much fun. Use bigger stuff to keep the panfish off....The #2 Pete seems to keep most of them at bay but you will still hook the occassional goggleeye and green sunfish. Chartruese & Orange & White are the Standard colors...Chartruese is best usually....but you can get them in any color you want from Gaines if you order a minimum of a dozen...
  16. Looks like a great trip...Nice smallie BTW!
  17. A 10' 5wt would make a great all arounder....Might look around for a discounted Z-Axis blank...
  18. My link This came up awhile back...Your missing out if your not fishing Sneaky Pete's or Poppers this time of year...The #2 & #4 Sneaky Petes should work just fine on a 9' 5wt. The Pete is incredibly effective on smooth water with current, but its absolutely worthless if the rubber legs get fouled on the hook...check often. Have fun.
  19. Forscher makes some great stuff....look at the fillet models and some of the flexible boning knives. Cheers.
  20. One of Hargrove's good buddies guides on the Stillwater..Andy Szofran out of Red Lodge if you need a river report.
  21. The whole blue ribbon has been full of rainbows since Montauk flooded in April. Its made for fast fishing, but its gotten allot harder to catch a brown trout. Enjoy it while it lasts.
  22. Sounds like a wild ride...heard that 2 drowned on the Boulder this weekend...be careful out there. FWIW, I heard that a few guys from STL slaid on De Puy's last week...no BS micro flies & matching hatches........trout park flies fished well.
  23. That looks like a wonderful time! Congrats on a great trip & a nice fish.
  24. I agree with Troutringer....The scenery is fantastuc and there is plentiful camping between Baptist & Pulltite, but the fishing runs from great to downright lousy depending upon which section your on.. Montauk State Park to Cedargrove has some great trout fishing....worth two or three days on its own.... Cedargrove to Akers, rarely fishes well in the Summer time. There are a few smallmouth to be had, and its pretty decent for stocked rainbows if you hit it right (Usually Spring & Fall when hordes of floaters arent there) Akers to Pulltite.... the fishing is horrible...not many trout and its too cold for smallmouth. Might as well leave the rod at home, site see and fish in the cooler. Pulltite to Round Spring....Smallie fishing starts to pick up a again. Round Spring to Two Rivers..Smallie fishing is good. But you'll have to share the water with some jetboats. If fishing is the main objective..I'd hit the best water...Baptist to Cedar for trout...then head down to Round Spring for some smallies. Have a great trip.
