No matter what it was avoidable. Why do people get mean on the river Its really went downhill in franklin county. Seams like the rental places have turned into buttholes too. Some of these floaters are so dumb they thank you when you slow down and put a 3' wake on them. At full speed it wouldn't be hardly noticeable to a canoe
I'm just saying things can get ugly fast. Today on the meramec sitting on my own private boat ramp I had a ton of floaters go by and a lot of the dirt bags guys jeer at my 14 year old daughter. Worse yet one idiot yelled profanities at my wife. That's what it's come to on the river ? Not exactly family friendly anymore.
Put in this morning at robertsville at 5 am. 6lb flathead and 18" smallie was all that bit me. Top water was going crazy. Covered many many miles. Not a single fisherman on water till got up above 30 bridge 84 degrees water temp. Perfect
Okay so .. Last week I ran a guy off fishing my creek that said he was from high ridge. I just caught another guy from arnold. How the heck do people drive a hour to trespass is beyond me.
Oh yeah. Forgot to tell ya my biggest largemouth also came from the cove or slough as we call em. Go to back end walk across ten yards of brush. Welcome to largemouth and crappie heaven. Ten foot deep crystal clear log infested slough. Check it out. I if you like it I can pm you several more just like it. This walleye fishing has me not caring about bass so I could hook you up. Another one down by pickles ford that would make any bass guy drool
In forty years old. When I was not quite a teen my mom would drop us off at sand ford and we did a 5 day float back to shady. We only brought flour and grease. We stayed in the cave right across from that cove. We ate pigeons that lived in the cave and everything else from frogs to squirrels and whatever fish we caught. That stretch of river has so many fond memories for me probably was the only time my poor mom got a break from us 4 boys It looks identical today. Smallmouth were my passion back then I just don't get all amped up over them anymore. Unless they over 18".
Last winter I gigged a lot of my water and used it as a scouting tool cause I really can't handle more than a few ziplock bags of hog mollies I found that we have some giant smallmouth on the river still. Even better is the amount of crappie and white bass and lunker largemouth. I have to say most guys I know don't keep bass. I haven't ate a smallmouth in twenty years. Was camping when I ate that one. For all its worth I think when the boats are stirring it up that's time to fish.
The same kind of losers will trash any place they go and little regard for the future. Luckily most of them don't fish. With the ethics they have it would be disastrous. We commonly call these people city trash.
