I took a friend who is just getting started in fishing for a partial day Saturday. We started out in googer throwing top water. I had one confirmed follower but that was it. The water was dead slick at that time. We fished into a pretty good sized cove just picking up one short. I went back out to the main point of the cove and moved out a little deeper with a wobble head/pacacraw. My friend was throwing a 1/2oz football jig on a rod I let him use. This was his first time ever throwing a baitcaster. He did really well! Anyway we caught quite a few fish working from basically 3-15' deep. Most came probably between 5-8'. Everytime I got itching to pull up the trolling motor I'd get bit so we ended up working all the way to the mouth of googer. I wanted to fish the main point there but I got blatantly cut of by a man and his wife (I assume) in a small v-bottom. Not a tournament fisherman! Thought I'd throw that out there since everyone always comes down on them. Anyway we ran south nearly to the power lines and continued fishing the same way and continued catching fish. I also caught a walleye that is waiting in the fridge for tomorrow nights supper.
I didn't count how many we caught but we had a solid limit with the biggest around 3lbs. It was a good day for my buddy. It was his first bass boat ride, first time using a baitcaster, and probably his first bass on Stockton. I think I warped him good. Just before we left I handed him my steez/13 Fishing envy combo to use. Then a t3 1016/13 Fishing omen combo. His wife probably hates me now.
