  1. The h20 brand baits from academy are great square bills with good hooks and are usually only $3. I like the bigger version. I use 15-17lb flourocarbon on a 6'10" med or medium heavy rod. Generally I use a fast retrieve but I'm not burning it. It's a fun way to catch fish.
  2. Btw I'm not saying Table Rock isn't pressured. All the lakes are anymore. It's definitely not the most pressured in our area though.
  3. Exactly exactly exactly. This is what I've been saying. The way it is the lake is in good health. The ratio of anglers that keep bass vs the ones that don't is favorable so everyone is way over reacting. We aren't keeping everything we catch. Very dang few of us are.
  4. No sir, be prepared to eat your own words and look at the big picture. Now imagine every single bass kept over the last 5 years. Now go read a fishing report about table rock lake. So despite all those fish being kept the lake is in great shape as I've already pointed out. I'm not arguing on bit about the lake being better 30 years ago. It probably was better then and I'll take your word for it. I was fishing it then but I was to little to remember much about it other than owl creek had way less docks. The fact is you are blaming a minority of people keeping fish when in fact it has more to do with the lake aging, loss of habitat, lmbv, and the fish having to adapt as time goes by to the changing lake. Want proof? Look at Grand. I keep saying about Grand but really listen. 1. Grand has more recreational fishing pressure in one weekend than table rock could handle in two. Therefore more fish get abused than table rock and see more lures so should be wiser technically. Harder to catch too theoretically. So if that's right there must be a higher population. 2. Grand hosts more tournaments and way way bigger tournaments throughout the year. You guys moan about bed fishing and tournament anglers hauling fish around but grand is kicking out more and bigger bags all year long than table rock. 3. Grand fishes way smaller than table rock. Less river arms etc. hard to explain but it's true. One major part of the lake (Neosho/Spring river) is to scary for most to run. So you have a concentrated area with more fishermen fighting over the fish. 4. Grand is older. No standing timber at all so less habitat from the get go. 5. You can't sling a dead cat around that lake without hitting a private dock. Docks mean houses. Houses mean people. People mean fish getting yanked out of the lake all the way around that sucker. Way way way higher population than at table rock. So if all these evil meat hunters and constant tournament anglers abound at Grand why is it known as the best lake in the nation without grass? HABIT! All those docks have brush piles. Locals plant them. The docks themselves. Etc etc. The lake should be deader than a hammer by your and other people's theory with all those odds against it not even factoring the age but it simply kicks butt year after year! I witnessed a spawn this year like I've never seen before. True giants swimming. Many many 4lbers. All this from an over fished lake even without the land owners help. So Table Rock was better before because it had better habit. More trees. It needs more shallow cover now. Higher water until July anyway, like this year. It doesn't need more docks because it has to many already but brushpiles etc. would make the biggest difference. A handful of people keeping fish is just a drop in the bucket compared to the population. Again I rarely keep a bass out of the lake that isn't bleeding or something but it isn't hurting a thing if a few do because the fact is not a whole lot of us do.
  5. Guides don't clean fish on table rock. They won't even joke about cleaning fish on table rock. Just ask one. (Sarcasm)
  6. Mister I will take you up on this bet. To be extra sure you better make it four plates. Let's throw in some walleye and crappie since we are seeing how good my taste buds are. While I am showing off catch two striper. One out of beaver and one out of Texoma. I can tell the difference there too. The Texoma one is better. So far anyway. I don't mind bringing taters, beans, cornbread, hush puppies, slaw, or whatever else to this contest. You could say I'm pretty familiar with eating fish and very very familiar and picky about preparing it and freezing it. My wife takes care of the burning it part. 50lbs of overweight can't be wrong. I like my fish. In fact we fed a family of 9 (!!!) Saturday. That was a mess of fish.
  7. Exactly everything this man just said. I personally am not for the limit change because it won't do squat anyway. I say we sell our stuff donate the proceeds to peta and start hugging trees. That is the only way to not be a hypocrite in this deal and have room to criticize anyone who wets their boat.
  8. The water was almost up to the road at it when I drove by. My guess is Honey creek and Terra miranda are the two best bets. Just guesses though.
  9. Whites are not as good to eat btw. Also as I've said before I do not eat bass out of our lakes. Just private ponds/lakes that need it. I will keep a bleeder though so I'm not being wasteful.
  10. So you think because 30 years ago it was better or there was bigger fish it has something to do with a minority keeping some fish? Please tell me that is not the logic here.
  11. Get over it guys. Champ you know I like you a lot and you are one of my favorite guys on the site but this chastisement needs to stop. All of you listen to me now, if a few of us keep a few fish we are a just fine. Great in fact. This is what is happening so that's a good thing! We are doing it right guys! This has been going on forever and just look at how great the lake is right now! Read the fishing reports. The lake is kicking butt! If we all keep all the keepers we catch we are in deep trouble. This is not even close to what is happening. Crappie fishermen keep everything over 10" almost all the time. They are just fine. If our priorities were right and in the right place abortion wouldn't even be in the dictionary. Put a bass on a stringer a couple times a year and hypocrites thinking that they never catch or weigh a bedding fish (Champ, Bo) and people lose their minds. These lakes are managed. They will never be void of bass. The fishermen care and the conservation care. Regulations may have to change but Table Rock will always have bass. This is seriously becoming redundant, ignorant, hypocritical, bullcrap guys.
  12. Wolf Creek Tuesday. There was water in the parking on the other side of the street too. This is lower than it was over the weekend.
  13. They are until you something comes up that doesn't fit their mold then it's bad news for you. Good>them, bad>you
  14. Well in the beginning. It's been down hill from the get go. More specifically to what you are saying someone had to teach the baby boomers to be bad parents. We can pass the buck all we want or we can raise up decent kids and take responsibility. That scary "r" word is what runs most people off. It's no doubt getting worse and will continue to. There are some still trying though.
  15. Lol on a boat that's loaded completely full of crap 90% of the time anyway. I didn't know that though. I guess they just assume most fish and ski trolling motors are to get to the dock or shore.
  16. It started LOOOOOOONG before that.
  17. You mean they literally didn't glass in the support to handle a bigger trolling motor?
  18. Personally I'd shoot for 80+ on the trolling motor but I don't know what your intentions are.
  19. I use my kids for fishing wires. You can wedge kids in those hard to reach places on a boat.
  20. Exactly
  21. I'm with with Jim. I love spots. Very scrappy and very pretty fish.
  22. I have not. Those look sweet!
  23. You have to deduct one bass for every drum you catch and the drum doesn't count.
  24. But yea Grand is crazy on the bags is kicks out. Not just weight but the amount of them. Also it gets way more pressure than any lake around here even thought about. Table Rock, Stockton, etc, I don't think could handle that kind of pressure. Sorry that was a little off topic.
  25. You can change the settings in your control panel. Or should be able to anyway.
