  1. A $25 on sale ten ball bearing Academy H2O Mettle reel cast a long way!! Not one single issue yet. So good I bought 12 at that price.
  2. http://www.bassmaster.com/blog/tharp-toho-incident?fb_action_ids=769559419802662&fb_action_types=og.comments&fb_source=other_multiline&action_object_map=%5B661805993929444%5D&action_type_map=%5B%22og.comments%22%5D&action_ref_map=%5B%5D# It seems that all you have to do is put a sticker on your truck and boat, buy a jersey and pay an entry fee and now you’re KVD, right? ----Randall Tharp
  3. I remember a few years back someone won a CPA event getting down to that depth with a wiggle wart and 6lb test and a medium action spinning rod. I used to do it a lot but you constantly had to keep an eye on your line. A 4 pounder can eat your lunch especially when the water hits the mid 50's. Back then it wasn't that big a deal to lose a wart. Today it hurts a little bit. I still have just over a 100 left but think I'll stick to 10lb test.
  4. Mag Wart, Rebel Deep Mini or Maxi R will reach those so-called deeper fish.
  5. Lighted cup holders (2)!! Free jersey?
  6. I'm in no way jealous of the jersey wearing type. Just simply think it looks dumb. When I buy a new truck the very first thing I do to it is pull the hideous dealer decal off of it. I've even pulled the chevy bow ties off the tail gate. Less is more.
  7. If I was choosing a fishing partner for a tournament and had to choose between the jersey wearing wannabe with all the fancy equipment or the guy that shows up with old rods and worn out 5500c garcias and a roached out boat. I'll take the second option every time which to me is the face of experience.
  8. Awesome with 6lb test and a spinning rod. I always start with brown craw and adjust from there. I use the same colors on both lakes.
  9. 2011-2013 Purely Champion. The only thing Stratos about it was the decals and the Stratos cut-out on the trailer.
  10. Changing the name of a long standing well respected boat with a huge loyal following was the so-called last nail in the coffin. Imagine the fallout of the Ranger loyal if Johnny changes their name to Nitro-ranger Elite Z Series. I'm only hopeful that Johnny will resurrect the Champion name and legacy along with the competition between both Ranger and Champion that made both brands great. The worst thing about this whole mess is the total loss of competition among the various brands he now owns. I suspect you won't notice anything dramatic for at least 3-5 years. Johnny had already tried to purchase the Champion brand back in 2001.... so he's at least interested.
  11. Better than Devcon 2 ton and goes on way better with no brushing. The 2 weeks full cure is what it says on the can. You can easily handle it in 24hrs.
  12. This is what I've been using. It goes on very thin and I give it about 3 or 4 coats. One every couple of hours and no need for a rotisserie. Dip it...hang it, wait 2 hrs...repeat process...3-4 dips....full cure in 2 weeks. Can use it safely after a couple days.
  13. For those that haven't seen it...the first Wiggle Wart ad from my 1976 bassmaster magazine.
  14. Biggest fish I've ever caught at night came on a salt craw with two 7/16 oz. bullet weights. I credit the two bullet weights slapping together making noise. I totally had both of them on there by accident. When my buddy unhooked the fish he said why in the world are you using two bullet weights. I didn't even know it. It continued to work the rest of the night. Great idea using one on a jig!
  15. +1 Time to think about heading to the back of those pockets and coves to the last 40' and go vertical with spoons and grubs.
  16. Bagley's & H2O's
  17. Very cool statement!
  18. Creating a CPA name on this board would've been just way too difficult. Sitting and watching the fire burn instead of quickly putting it out based on you should know me and my intentions is a little strange in my opinion. Not everyone on this board follows CPA and Mr. Webb. A very simple and important question required an immediate answer especially "if" they were just sitting back and monitoring the situation. My thoughts if I was the tournament director would be I'm glad so many fisherman care so much about the resource to ask the question to begin with.
  19. Thanks for making the call Bill.
  20. The largest 12 bass stringer I've ever seen was caught by my dad and his best friend in the very back of big cedar in the late 70's. The gravel pocket that the current big cedar ramp is on and the spring bank that is just a little farther on back on the left. All caught on brown and orange deep mini r's in late March. Try making a cast there today.
  21. Oh and while I'm at it Big Cedar was an absolutely beautiful place and tremendous location to fish "before" johnny ever arrived. Currently not so much....
  22. Maybe a table rock bass restocking program needs to be taken on by johnny himself. For every bass he puts in his tank it's replaced with a couple thousand fingerlings. Why use the MDC and Missouri taxpayer $ ? I'm stll peeved about the long creek public use deal with no voter approval.
  23. I'm certain Mr. Webb is a standup guy but I would like to know what happened to the fish as well. Why not come on here and answer the question? Since it's being monitored and all.
  24. We used to help the Kimberling City bass population a lot when we would catch limits out of the James River and release them in tournaments into the clear water of the midlake. I sometimes wish it was the other way around. Imagine how good the upper James would be if it constantly got all the tournament releases.
  25. I think smallmouth love to see their prey in clear open water and hunt it down and attack like a pack of wolves.
