Please tell us why we should pay for another person on the reiver who from your statement seems to have not authority. We have people already who have authority and already are paid by us. This IMO would be a waiste of money ( just another do nothing goverment employee ) That is something I thought everyone was sick of. Again we have EPA, MDC, LOCAL, STATE AND COUNTY Officers and protection agents that we pay for in one way or another. Maybe a body that reviews each of their findings plus call ins from the public and directs the officers/agents where to go would be far more practical. If each county had 2 sherriffs 1 local city 1 game warden dedicated on weekends to patrols of those areas it would make a larger impact. The big problem though again is the contributing factor that obviously wont go away because of the power of BUD. Most of what I have seen and read about is directly related to 1 can at a time. -

No illusions of that at all. but it is a major contributing factor and why so many states have stronger laws. -

http://en.wikipedia....aws_of_Missouri <--- easiest to read but you can go to the missouri home page and look it up as well but its much longer in the reading, I checked several sites but wiki covered it fastest and easiest for reading. The sunmmary is best. Legalized public intoxication, which localities cannot override; -

After re-reading this thread the only viable option I see that may have a chance is heavily complaining to the local politicians to force some type of enforcement of the current laws on the books and also the least expensive option and most fair option. There are just to many user groups from weekenders to fishermen to land owners and business owners to think a fee would stand a chance and if it did more than likely the administrative side of it would eat up any type of enforcement. There are laws on the books that can be enforced to lesson the problems brought up BUT again requires a officer to be present to enforce them. Even at best case scenerio Missouri has a population 2011 est of 6,010,688 lets say 1/2 of them use the lakes rivers and stream and are charged 3$ for a tag rounded 9 million in generated money. You would have to have dedicated offices and staff for them you would need boats cars trucks and so on. 9 million sounds like alot of money but by the time you pay for those offices, staff salary vechicles, maintenance and so on it is not that much money. In personal you would probably need a minimum of 150 people at about 4million in salary so you are left with 6 million, ooppss now you have to buy the cars, trucks, boats, trailors gas. I think you get the idea. More realistically you probably only have a million people and still have the same logisitics and staff requirements. In complete honesty I have ot go back to we have officers on salary now and they can be used, so why pay for something I am already paying for. A big part of the problem is Missouri's Lax liquor laws which promotes much of the acts talked about in this thread. -

Because I know when our company was in finacial hard times we made do with stuff that worked, it may not have been pretty or fancy or even current but it worked. I know when my family was facing hard times we didnt spend money on new we used what we had. Seen way to many goverment offices with furniture much nicer than many home offices. If a person cant afford it in their house why should our goverment be better off than we are at home? You go to work to get a job done not live in luxury doing it. -
silver and black, fire tiger and white are my three go to colors on any lake, never done me wrong yet.

Our goverment is broke and so are many states, They do not know how to allocate money to where it needs to be. I know i wouldnt be buying fancy office furniture when my clients are not getting the work done. We are not only the employers ( suppose to be anyway ) but the clients of those whom we put at task of protecting out resources. The DNR's must and should address the protection of them long before buying furniture. I can go to a yard sale and for a fraction of the cost of new buy a desk and chair. Why cant they? -
October / Novemeber it doesnt take much to catch fish, Stripers and Walleye are in Prarie Creek and the Islands as well as Avoca, Launch at Prarie Creek and look for Birds and Shad balls. Water is to cold for jetskies, tubers and others who like getting in it so you have mostly the lake to yourself and fishermen. You would need a cast net for getting bait and more than a handfull of 2/ to 4/0 hooks for the live bait, Flatline them 100ft behind the boat for stripers or rig up a bottom bouncer with the same bait for walleye. Be ready for some of the biggest bass of the year in those same areas, Everyone from the fish to the birds to the fishermen love shad
-
In three weeks I would concentrate my fishing for striper around Lost Bridge North from surface before dawn till 8am and then from 20fow to 40fow off points the rest of the day, Live bait will be your best bet but trolled umbrella rigs are a good second choice. Walleye I would be trolling long points and tiprap in 25 to 30 fow with hotntots or rapalas, secondary would be verticle jigging trees in the same fof with live minows, Crappie will be in the same area as walleye, Bass fishing try surface early then 12 to 18fow with jigs.

New Issue Of Southern Trout
Feathers and Fins replied to KirkSouthTrout's topic in General Angling Discussion
They all swim only in left circles -
Heart at 43 finally got the word for sure... Unforseeable and certainly no sign of it comming. Doc said that this is the type when people die from it they just write down heart failure. Apparently the small arteries in the heart much like the big ones can get clogged and reduce blood flow and proper working... Only a Nuclear stress test will show this. Guys do yourselves and your loved ones a favor and get one done. There was no signs at all, I am lucky though to have had it happen as It can be treated.
-
Well its been a long month but the Doc is giving me a green light to go fishing for a few hours Wend, Still have to limit it to not in the heat and only a few hours at a time. Still no work and must wear a blasted heart monitor but hey getting out a little is better than sitting around the house. Stripers beware IM BACK

When I lived in Cali they put in place a "Forestry Adventure Pass" anyone who went into them had to buy it "25$" it was for upkeep of the roads, streams and enforcement. I hated it but bought it, I never saw its benifits but i left Cali just a year after. I called my Dad today and a few friends and they said IT DID make differance. I do think maybe something like that might work. I still have concerns about how and who administers and enforces it though. -

Man Dies After Being Bitten By A Copperhead
Feathers and Fins replied to Blazerman's topic in Current River
I havent been able to find anything else on this bite but if he did have other health issues it would not suprise me! Yes snakes are good to have around the house that are non-venomous, the venomous ones a broom and trash can will relocate them safely for both parties simply take a 55gal can and with a broom push them into it tip it up lid it and move them. 90% of snake removal calls i got were because people left wood piles to close to houses or didnt maintain shrubs along the house walls, Mice moved in and predators followed. I use to love Florida houses who had shrubs along the walls, you could watch the anoles and geckos do the wave up the wall as a snake went through the shrubs. -

Ok billybob rents the boat half way through he sees bobbyray and picks him up. Billy bob said he had a 12 pack being honest but bobby ray had a 12 pack to, they had no intent of meeting it was chance but now billy bob gets a citation, I dont think any judge will allow that to hold water. Its not Soviet Russia and wont fly. But the money could certainly buy land and enforcement plus maintain the lands and conserve them. Step one needs to be protecting the land with an agency that can and will, get the rules for using it on the books after the agency is in place. But still using the NWR as the example it would be easy to say no illegal substanc or Alcahol and have the warden enforce it. -

Good idea but seriously how many will be honest about the beer? Not many i would guess and who would be checking every boat and issuing the citations? That is an ungodly amount of work. Under the NWR type system the booze would not be allowed to begin with. I never found i needed the spirits to have a good time in fact i found i had better times and remembered more of them without the spirits. The other thing being a NWR would do is put a staff on the areas including a warden, problem will be land aquistition. It doesnt need ot be NWR but something similar would be nice. -

I wonder what it would take to start getting these rivers in to the NWR system, Make them like many other refuges that people must pay to use them or buy the Federal Duck stamp to use them as a yearly pass. Besides a good retriever there is no better and proven tool than the Federal Duck Stamp for conservation -

You bring up the West and The National Parks, There is a reason the two are tied togeather John Muir was the one who made them possible through his influance on some very powerful men one of which was Teddy Roosevelt. Teddy got the credit as president but it was Muir who was the true founder of the parks system. Teddy did take it a step further and created the National Wildlife Refuge's the first at Pelican Island Florida. Its funny the Parks service fell under the Dept of Int, Muir actually wanted it to be under ARMY control as he felt the deptint was corrupt. But you bring up a possible solution to this topic, Create more NWR's and NP's which would allow for their permanent protection. If you havent or for that matter all who love conservation should read the writing of Muir. -

Feathers and Fins replied to kevthebassman's topic in Conservation Issues
You do understand Teddy was not a founding father dont you? Teddy along with other great men did understand the need for conservation and wild places as do many of sportsmen today but I fear the number is dwindling and not increasing. Joining conservation groups today seem to be a fad and not from the heart it is more like how many stickers can i put on my truck or trailer than doing conservation work. Thats ok the money helps but those donating to it DO NOT have the first clue about conservation its just the "IN" thing. The thing here and I have gave this a lot of thought is you can say you will tax people or you will require an additional fee but there MUST be someone to enforce it. I seriously doubt if 2 to 3 months of this tax /fee a year will put enough money in the states coffers to warrant additional officers and support staff to enforce this. That is the one thing people forget about is the Support staff for the officers you are not just hiring a officer you are hiring the paper pushers the desk the office the truck and boat etc. Then you need to get Judges who care about wildlife laws and we know where that has gone in the past.
