60 Years Old and I'm Still Amazed!!
Feathers and Fins replied to Bill Babler's topic in Table Rock Lake
Bill there was a time I would called BS that time was about 30 years ago though lol. I see it on Beaver all the time, trailer way to deep. There is a sweet spot for a boat and trailer find it and you can load in any situation almost. I would hate to see these people at Ft Pierce Floriduh North Bridge fighting a Offshore wind and 20knot outgoing tide current yet amazingly people do it every day with no problem. -
Dutch there is no discernible difference I can tell in the meat or flavor. I have had both side by side cooked the same way and couldn't tell a difference. The difference comes in the Fresh v Saltwater Apparently freshwater anglers call the White Drum trash fish or garbage ( I remember when Catfish, Halibut, Lobster etc ) were called trash also. Then people talked about how good they were and wow all the sudden its ok to eat them. Same with REDFISH they once were called trash fish and undesirable because they stole bait and ruined tackle when people were fishing for Sea Trout and Flounder. No different than GAR. I still hear them called trash and unfit to eat yet everyone I have cooked them for swear they are going to keep them now and eat them. Its all about dispelling myths.

http://www.egos2slider.com/index.html Best net's I have found and use. I use the 29 deep rubber net. when you unscrew the handle it fits right in your rod locker at the end of the day. Durring the day I just lay it on the front deck. I love the fact it extends out to 60 inches, if your a walleye angler or full time troller they also have a 108 inch handle extender.

An actual (short) fishing report- 6/26 Monte Ne
Feathers and Fins replied to bferg's topic in Beaver Lake
What he just said is echoed by many people I have talked with. It is really getting to the point even on weekdays its insanity of rudeness and inconsideration. I fear it will be until School goes back in session and THE VAST MAJORITY of boaters I am seeing midweek are in their teens and early twenty's, Many I wonder if they are even legal to be driving. The best fishing reports have all been 4am launch and back at the ramp by 11am latest on week days or week ends till 9am. Most fishermen are wanting nothing to do with the lake after that myself included. But there is good fishing to be had during those times -

Beaver Tailwaters Temperature Update
Feathers and Fins replied to Zack Hoyt's topic in Beaver Tailwater/Upper White River
Nope don't look like they are -
Ok so at the end of each season I like making a video of each characters scenes and then looking at them. after doing Little Finger's my first one so far I have had one of those Light bulb Moments. Little Finger is definitely a Targaryen supporter well sorta... More accurately a BLACKFYRE. After the video I went back to the books and the companion books and well I am starting to think he is a Blackfyre.

All I can say after reading it is this. Another case will come before them again about this exact same issue and they will be forced sooner or later to rule on if a Game and Fish officer is entitled without probable cause or warrant to "Detain" a person without probable cause of a crime being committed. Personally I believe the Defence attorney screwed up when the Judge asked him if Hunting is a "RIGHT or PRIVLEDGE" had he answered it is a RIGHT under the Arkansas Constitution the judges may well have had to answer the question as the detention is a violation of a persons right. Though it may not seem like much to some that distinction may well be the deciding factor in the next case. Though I believe it was a good ruling as I am sure had Pickle shown up to court to pay his fine someone would have caught him being a felon in possession. I believe the courts could have finally defined the AGFC Wardens authorities but they chose not to and why is beyond me it would save time and money in the future.

Beaver Tailwaters Temperature Update
Feathers and Fins replied to Zack Hoyt's topic in Beaver Tailwater/Upper White River
My guess and purely a guess will be the trout head to Tablerock to find deeper cooler water. This does not bode well for the Trout fishery for some time though. But if people wanted to catch them I would be running 5 to 7 colors of leadcore and a Panther Martin from Beaver Town out in to Tablerock. Could be some fantastic fishing. -

All my ledges right now are 12 to 18ft deep. For me its a early spring, fall and winter bite they suck in summer. Though I am sure there is deeper ledges the lake needs t get down lower than it did this year. I am looking for very specific types of ledges. Those are not to be revealed I do have to have a few secrets.
-
Im a big ledge lover lol. When the lake was down I marked tons of them. Some have produced others have not. One thing I have noticed in the productive ledges is there is NO other cover near them.

Must have missed it , where in FL you at? Oh and snook suck in the best possible way. Nothing better then one sucking your thumb just before he swims off after a good battle. They are still one of my favorite fish but for a fight nothing beats a Jack, if they could live in fresh water I would beg steal barter whatever with game and fish to have them. Awesome battlers that never give and inch or up.

I brought up Ledges for crappie earlier this year and the same applies for bass. When I do bass fish I try to fish them the same way I do ledges. I will look in a bit to see if I cant find the post on crappie as its the same for bass. Basically throw out light weight baits and when you hit the ledge you want them to fall naturally and slow picture a crayfish or small baitfish just leisurely swimming along. The bass or crappie etc will be on the drop off and when the prey comes along all nice and happy BOOM SUPRISE ambush predation at its finest.

Every year has it's own set of problems
Feathers and Fins replied to Ham's topic in General Angling Discussion
Ham, my perspective on it is this. We are having a Gret high water year and know in about 3 years to 5 years these year class fry will be pulling on my line and making me smile. The rain has killed some of my garden but really helped other parts of it. I'm blessed to be doing what I love in life and have a wife that now 6 years and never a fight or argument I really cant say anything bad at this point in my life except maybe not being closer to family but on the same token there is no way I would want to live in that God forsaken state anymore. So all in all bright outlooks and bright futures. -
So here it is Smoked Chicken Soak the chicken 1hour per pound in a brine solution. This was a 2.0lb bird so two hours. The solution is: 2 Cups water 2 Cups Apple Juice 100% pure ¼ Cup of A-1 BOLD RUB ¼ Cup sea salt 2 Tsp Accent Flavor Enhancer Place chicken in a foil pan large enough to be submerged in brine and place in refrigerator for 2 hours. Put Apple-wood chips in BBQ and get them smoking and BBQ temp to 250 degrees. Place Chicken on the top rack and cover, check about every 10 minutes and add chips as needed to smoke for 1 hour. While the chicken is smoking make up the BBQ Sauce for it do: ¼ Cup Pure Honey (local is best) ¼ Cup Maple syrup (100%pure) ¼ Cup Brown Sugar 2 Tbsp Paprika 2Tbsp A-1 Sweet Mesquite rub. Stir well till its all blended. At 1 hour with a basting brush apply sauce and turn temp up to 275 degrees. Baste again in 15 minutes then let cook for 30 minutes to caramelize. Check internal temperature at 2 hours and then every 10 minutes until it reaches 160 degrees. Let rest for 10 minutes and serve. This is served with; Anaheim Peppers, Jalapeño Peppers, Bell Peppers, Onion and Green Beans from our garden. Boil them all together for 20 minutes drain and serve.
