Both Champ and Powerdrive make good points.... Much of these issues could be avoided with mutual respect which is lost today in many people and because of that I see only 1 option comming down the pipe. Enough deaths will force Speed reduced areas on the lakes, I would actually support that as most fishermen would. In FL on the inter coastal you could go as fast as you wanted down the marked channel and channels but when you got out of the area it went to 10mph. This saved a-lot of problems and im sure lives. With the lakes dropping my biggest fear is seeing some kids on a tube get impaled by the timber and its comming. I went over one that was 1.7 ft under water the other day and watched a tuber go over it. I think it would be smart of the states to limit speed in the creek arms and areas where timber could become a danger. Let them have the main lake where its safe and make navigation channels where no skiing or tubing is allowed for safe navigation. But as always I will also say if Law Enforcement was out on the lakes enforcing boating laws harshly some of this will end fast.

Between 12 bridge and the hatchery. Stump 0 legal walleye for beaver any other 15'' lake and I would have been done fast... Crappie were all between 13 and 16 inchers. I know I will be back at it Saturday but more toward Rocky Branch area. Seems uplake has TONS of small eyes, whites and stripers and i think they have pushed the bigger fish out. Either that or maybe the tailwaters... I really enjoyed myself there on Saturday with the lack of pleasure boating idiots.

I see it day in day out on the water. 4029 NEWS had it on their site 4 drownings in 4 weeks and they think boating safety classes are going to help LMAO!!! NO ENFORCEMENT IS WHAT WILL HELP... I have started getting a little attitude and am very much about to put my old tricks back to play for these kind of people. Its called a large reel with 65pnd braid with an 8oz sinker on it and 30 treble hooks above it and when its obvious they are about to be rude just for the sake of it throw the rig out and let their prop get it and all the line. I aint done that in years but this year is testing my blood presure with these people.

All the Walleye talk got me thinking I needed to get out tonight for a while. I started out around 4:00 and finished up at 8:00ish. Water Depth was 20 to 25 feet. Rapala shad rap sr9 trolled at 2.5 mph 150ft behind boat Total of 19 walleye 8 Crappie The last hour and half before I left the stripers, whites, hybrids and bass decided to turn the surface into a washing machine and who could pass up messing with them. I cant tell you how many It was A TON! they were in no way large pund to pound and a half most. the surface action The bait Walleye are on the bottom just under the bait each time i saw this set up I would get either a walleye or crappie.

Beaver has a great shad population and bluegill, I dont think a WR would be possible for another 10 to 12 years if at all but its possible. I do expect in the next 5 years to start seeing 8 to 12pnd fish comming in often. I would be happy with a lake that the average fish is 5 to 8pnds. If you do web searches on Beaver there is not much talked about. It could stay a sleep lake. What I like is we all know how hard beaver is to bass fish and that might be what makes her a great walleye lake, she is big and doesnt give up her bounty easily you have to learn her moods to be productive and figure out which mood she is in. Other lakes can be called the "Jewel" of their area but Beaver wants to be given Jewels in the form of respect and understanding. I love her she is not easy and makes you earn her love.

I agree Stump. I am glad to see a 4 at 18'' and think so long as people abide by the regs Beaver will become an outstanding fishery for them. I actually am in favor of even tigher regs after reading much on them. I would like to see a closed season durring the March and April with the exception of allowing for 1 fish over 30'' durring that time to allow for a person to get a potential record fish. I think Beaver has the potential to be a world record lake but even if not it could be a true trophy fishery. Why not take advantage of its potential?

Flukes Vs. Superflukes
Feathers and Fins replied to Jack Jones's topic in General Angling Discussion
Keitechs for me as well MUCH more versatile then a fluke. -
I found this on the AGFC Site about Beaver http://www.agfc.com/resources/Publications/FishQtrly/D1.pdf I hope it does I have found I really like targeting them. They are not much of a power fighter but make a good account for themselves and when it comes to table they sure are hard to beat. I am starting to really zero in on their habits and where to look for them. They have very defined things they want and dont like being far from shad so it makes it a little easier. The other thing is they are nocturnal so it gives me something to mess with in the summer after work or on weekends at night when its cooler and less traffic on the lake. Not that I needed an excuse to fish more but now I have a good one to go in the evenings and keep cooler.

Very Nice. I drive past that area often for work and was always curious to what is in there. I may need to invest in a KS License and put it on my way home stop off list.

That help any lol

Why not use circle hooks? I use them on some of my flies and they work just fine and every fish it hooked the same place ( corner of the mouth ) now understandably it would be currently impossible for some of the very small flies but when possible why not use them on places as special as crane?

6-9-12 Holiday To Golden Gate
Feathers and Fins posted a topic in Beaver Tailwater/Upper White River
I have been wanting to get over and play in Randy's (RPS's) yard for awhile and finally got the chance today. First it was a beautiful morning no other way to put it. No generation and flat calm. Shad were supper thick and were very easy to get actually had more in one net than i needed for three days lol. The old bridge kicked out 20 bass from 2 to 4 pounds but something had the shad running up on shore llike lemmings. So I tossed a couple of the bigger shad about 10 ft outside of the suicide and hooked a Hybrid yes a 5pnd hybrid follwed by 3 more, So I guess that answers a question I have had for a while now. They be there lol. It slowed down about 10:00am so I went on the troll with Rapalas in Silver and Fire Tiger in 18 to 25 ft of water. I did manage a few small eyes nothing legal but still fun. Went back to the bridge area and caught a few more Bass and snagged a Spoony that took over an hour to get to the boat first I ever have caught and I would guess him around 60pnds or so Never caught them before so no way to guage them for size on visual. The Tube and Tahoe hatch started about 2pm but not real bad but by 4pm it was getting dangerous so I CALLED IT QUITS. Beautiful day and after two weeks being laid out much needed... I cant wait to get back and try and find some walley of the more legal size. -
Nothign wrong with that one bit looks nice

SO WHERE ARE PICTURES OF NEW BOAT???

I know a guy who fishes the lakes frequently and does very good for cats, He uses bluegill I think and fishes cuts and creeks. Like Quill said though he targets them right after rains, That pattern holds true on Beaver as well, my BEST catfish trips are to Prairie Creek right after a rain, I just anchor up on the edge of the creek bed and toss aout baits into it and limit pretty fast on some perfect eating size cats 2 to 5 pounds but be ready for some monsters to be in there also.

Two Questions...keeping Fish And Trout Magnets
Feathers and Fins replied to MOBass's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
Mo, go to the Lowes and get the BIG ones. Use a sharpi to write name and Conservation number on it. If you want to reuse them instead of putting them on the way they have to be cut off just reverse them and burn a needle hole in it and use a snap through the hole and you have a reuseable one. I had a CO check us on a trip we had limits of stripers, crappie and Walleye. He said it was the easiest he ever had at checking fish in a live well. -
Two Questions...keeping Fish And Trout Magnets
Feathers and Fins replied to MOBass's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
What I do for the legal limit issue be it hunting or fishing if I have multiple people with me is simple. I use Diffrent color Zip Ties to mark who's fish belongs to who. Its simple and effective. Larger ties you can easily write your name on them and there is no question the when a C/O stops you. -
Im thinking I may hit the tailwaters to eaglerock forgot this weekend is free fishing weekend in AR. I would be interested in larger walters and less of the tubes and traffic.
-
It would be nice if they could stock that number each year to keep a decent age class in the lake. Beaver is starting to turn into a very nice Walleye lake and with a maintained program could in 5 years rival any lake in the country and possibly surpass many of them with Beavers abundance of forage fish.
-
Sounds like you guys got into a fun spot. I have found out when they shut off like that but then when you come back to them they are biting again if I turn off my Sonar they keep biting. How bad was the Tuber Hatch up there? I was debating hitting a few spots either on Beaver tomorrow or below the Dam for Walleye and was curious what time the tube hatch is starting so I can be off the main areas where they seem to hatch.
-
Dont feel bad guys, I was checked by a Ranger at one of the trout parks that told me I had to have my license and trout tag on it and not just a conservation permit partnership card. Little Youngun didnt even understand what a lifetime license was. I swear some of these people in charge are to young for the job.

You can catch fish under the lights all year long if you can maintain connection to where the bait is. This time of year is more a """known""" traditional time for where the whites are is why it is so popular and easy. I have dont it in the middle of Summer for some Monster Stripers and Biggest slap Crappie of the year. You have to put in the time to find the Bait pods to be productive though and with boat traffic its harder to do that.
