Anyplace from Beaver town to Parker bend you have a chance at them. It is no guarantee and takes a lot of cast and days on the water to get them. John I don't see them getting established without a LOT of help. Its nice having them in the area in small numbers as a challenge fish but I would be against any stocking efforts above say 200 every other year or a replenishment number per year and at that they would need to be trophy size 20lb fish and would want to see a "striper tag" to keep them in the WR from Holiday Island to the dam of around $20.00 tag and all stripers caught in the area must be reported and that money be set in a special fund to maintain and enhance the area for trout and striper. Once X amount of stripers are caught then AGFC could replenish those numbers. But in NO way would I want to see a consorted effort to stock stripers in large numbers. Beaver and Bull already have them, this would just be a neat addition to the upper white river. It is not a popular fishery right now because it is just not widely known and even with those who do know about most would rather go to Beaver where the odds are much more in your favor of catching one as the Upper Whites Stripers are at best Difficult to catch trust me I have grey hairs from them. Seeing 20lb stripers cruising in crystal clear water and refusing everything will give them to you lol. If I had to be concerned about anything effecting the trout it would be if AGFC and MO made a trophy walleye area from say Big M to Beaver Dam to 28'' to keep those things would become trout destroying machines, though I must admit the thought of catching 7lb walleye and bigger makes me smile just a little lol. Awe dreams of a true trophy zone with snicker bars swimming around happily just waiting to be ate.

Midlake region Water temps mid 70's Wind 5 TO 10 and Light RAIN Depth 14 to 20 feet of water Bait, Brooder Minnows, XPS Spoon, Keitech swing impact in white, Jigging Rap and Flicker Shad 7am till 1;30pm water clarity clear 5 to 8 foot vis Species; Walleye, Stripers, White, Smallmouth, Kentucky's, Crappie, Catfish and Gar I had a hunch with the south wind brooders would produce walleye so I stopped of at HLS this morning to pick up a pound. I was using them on Pea gravel and Bolder area with nearby brush. My hunch paid off for a total of 5 walleye 3 were keepers the others were at 17 inches. I was also working a jigging spoon again hopping it off the bottom and it was doing its work on the whites when all the sudden my rod went double bend and line pulling off. My first thought was a hybrid or striper but ended up being my PB smallie 22 inches I kept trying to get a good pic of its tail on the mark but it had other ideas lol did get it at the 21 mark finally and gave up its girt was 15 inches the scale said 7.38lbs ( I really need to make sure its right ) and yes I was informed by multiple text after of what that fish could have been. I kept working that spoon and hit more whites and hybrids and several more Mammoth smallies another that was 20 inches with a 13.75 inch girth scale said 6.10 on it. All the bass were spitting up Orange Crayfish all about 2.5inches long. None of the bites today unlike last week were subtle these were solid slam bites. No in hand pictures as I was informed by one person the background would give the spot away lol so here is some action shots.

He caught 9 between 1pm and 5pm 12 to 18lbs in size so I would say quality and decent numbers..... I would be willing to bet if they are there based off the past they are probably in fornt of LBS as well. There are just days this stupid work stuff really gets in the way of my Fishahoilic disease.

I am not surprised one bit, I have said on here numerous times I target those open water bait schools for Big Bass. It is not a 15 or 50 fish day but more like 4 to 10 on average but they are BIG and will win tournaments. You have to know the lake well to do it and put a ton of time on it, but the pattern holds true every years on those big bass in open water. I do it with the XPS Spoon and Keitechs but see no reason a spook wouldn't work early and certainly a wart or DD22 could do it, but it takes confidence to sit in the open like that and hope for the few big fish to bite.
