Quill, I love fish and the results have made a major difference in my health so everything is a potential meal, well minus bass cant stand them out here but loved them in cali. Gar are really good and pretty simple to clean when you know how. As to the slime Ive caught Barracuda and nothing bothers me after them, their nick name is Slime Stick for a reason, as to the smell mix up 1 cup sugar in a sprayer that attaches to the hose and it takes the smell right out. EG; fry = bad on heart had to find better ways.

Yes EG, It gets the lakes name out there and that is worth money then there is the all the festivities that circle the BIG tournament, anglers spend money in the local economy fans spend money, licenses, permits, a lot of money goes in to a pro-t. If I remember a few articles I have read the FLW for Beaver lake is 1.5 or so million. Now tack on Crappie Masters and all the local club tournaments through the year. I'm not going to try and figure the cost today but when I fished them it was typically 4 days 2 day prefish 2 day tourney, that's 4 days of gas, lodging, food, bait resupply averaged me about 700 for 4 days back in the 90's multiply that by from 50 to 200 guys depending on tourney and type then times how many tourneys a year. Local tourneys were much cheaper of course but still averaged about 200. Many people don't think about how much a tourney-fishing adds to the local economy. Im sure with a few of the regulars on here they could give a more up-to-date cost of tourney fishing for say an out of town needing lodging etc and local events.

Walleye is the meal Preheat oven to 350 Take to fillets and soak them overnight in buttermilk in the refrigerator. Wash off with cold water dry on paper towels Place on aluminum foil LIGHTY sprinkle Accent flavor enhancer on the meat Add some fresh cilantro and chives Add fresh Green chilies This should be how they look Wrap the foil over them and bake for 20 minutes. At 20 minutes remove from oven and sprinkle Parmesan Cheese over them and place them back in the oven for 5 minutes with foil open Pull out and add shredded Monterey Jack, Extra Sharp Cheddar, Queso and Asadero cheeses place back in oven for 5 minutes with foil open Remove and serve. Finished product

Hwy 12 run ran out a week and half ago, Im following the migration and sticking with the fish. Until they get in full summer mode they will be easy to find

Not wanting to travel a long way, In that area I would simply try the areas I listed above the walleye are on them in different areas of the lake and I see no reason they would not be up there. Speed trolling is what has been producing for over 8 weeks now and it still is. 2.3 to 2.5 mph you are not looking for numbers but aggressive fish that want to bite.

Breaking a rule is Breaking a rule, does not matter who turned who in for it if it happened. If the tournament directors were smart they would all get together ( Bass, FLW, PWT, Crappie Masters etc ) and go to each states DNR commission with a set of unified rules and ask they allow them for "catch and release" tournaments and any state that says not then no tournament in that state. With the Millions of dollars generated from the pro-tournaments states would be foolish to not listen and work with the Tournaments. It would make it one set of rules for anglers to know in all states.

Quill I kid you not. 9:30 and they were just getting there and said they were. Our run back up-lake there had to have been at least 50 or 60 boats on the water still that I could see and several running no lights and saw several leaving PC as we were pulling in two were loaded wake boats heading out. I have a fear that these irresponsible unsafe people might sooner or later force ACE to turn Beaver in to a no night lake like many others around the country have gone. I talked to a couple friends last night when I got home to see how they did and 1 lost a rod n reel because someone ran to close to them trolling and snagged the line launching the rig and the other was swamped twice. I know its beating a dead horse but I asked if they saw the sheriffs patrol and the answer was NO. Where in the heck is law enforcement?

No one really knows there is a lot of theories but no one knows. I got many coonass friends that are proud of it and know a couple guys who are very uptight who hate the term but most Cajuns or the ones I know are proud of the term as its gone from a slur to term of endearment to their heritage.

Water temp 82.4 Wind light Moon Full Mosquitos thick Wc and I hit the lake this afternoon from 4:45 to 9pm 14 walleye most in the 13 to 17 range but 3 keepers did come home hit 1 white and 8 bass smallmouth and largemouth and a drum. Flicker shad as usual trolled 140 ft back in 8 to 15fow. Fish were keyed in on inside pockets and the inside of points. We lost a lot of others including one big walleye that thought it was a tarpon and managed to headshake my bait free. Ramp was still packet at 9;30 when we finally got there from our long run and people were still loading and unloading some planning on tubing at night. Also watch out several people don't understand turning on lights at night while running is a safety thing.

Chol, you used the number 1 thing in your post "thumb" I have entered many long cast competitions and its is guys who have the feel in their thumbs that win with baitcasters. Knowing your set-up will help a lot in further helping but let me try some details. First I used Calcutta's and Penns casting. For Baitcasting I would completely gut the reel and clean it out then change out the stock gear to aftermarket gears I used and still today use Vaseline in the reels. Your tension control bearing or magnet/ whatever back all the way off ( for beginners don't do it but practice gradually backing off till there is none ) Casting I prefer the "ENGLISH PENDULIUM CAST" for distance casting. for every day casting I drop the bait depending on weight of lure or bait where I can maximize rod load that is normally 6 to 8 inches below the tip for live bait it can be as much as rod lengths. On casting have thumb pressure on the spool and as line goes out remove it or add to it, in time you will be able to do it in the dark by the feel of everything. As time goes on you will find your comfort zone but its truly thumb control that wins. Get some of the surf-casting books and read them they will really help as no one beats surf casters for distance and accuracy.

It has been a year since my heart attack and just heard back from the doctor on my 1 year check-up. When I had my heart attack I was at 252 pounds, now im at 212. That’s 40 pounds in a year and I haven’t seen 212 since my 20’s! I’m feeling great and sleeping all the way through the night now back pain is nothing like it use to be and I’m feeling better than I have in 15 years or more. The labs and Blood work came back today and everything is at normal levels now where last year it was critical! My biggest enemy is going to be the Heat of summer as it was the small arteries that were the culprit and nonstentable so I will always have to watch heat and how much I do in it and with meds and continued diet meds and exercise complete recovery is possible. Even if you think you are healthy as I thought I was go see a doctor and get tested the life you save WILL be your own.

I have been hearing about Paula Dean is in trouble for saying the ( N ) word. I really do not get the big deal, she is southern and it is still very prevalent in southern speech so I don't find it at all surprising she admits to having said the word. I still hear it all the time and not meant in a mean or defaming way. I was raised around a man that was as black as black can be and taught me a lot about morals and ethics but even more he taught me that it didn't matter if you were black white green or yellow if you worked hard were honest and tried you can do anything in life. He like my grandfather used the word to describe people of all colors that were just plain trash, I honestly didn't know it was a racial slur until I was probably 13 or 14 and thought of it as a description of just that trashy people. Now it seems if someone says it they ( HAVE TO BE RACIAL ) Have we really gotten so politically correct that vocabulary of a region of the country and ones upbringing now makes them racial? I really don't get it. One of the best movies IMO of all times was Blazing Saddles and its been on lately yet the word is edited and what makes me laugh most about it is RICHARD PRIOR wrote most those lines. Maybe its I judge a person on who they are not the color of their skin or I was raised around hearing it all the time and it doesn't bother me but I just don't get why people put so much concern on a word.
