Launch at the Back ramp at Rocky Branch and fish in that back cove its a mudflat and the shad ( 1'' to 1.5'' ) have been there. If nothing is biting after an hour you can slow troll 1mph to 1.5mph the west bank working the points in 15fow to 25fow till you get to the last point on the west side then troll back down toward the ramp over the old road bed. You should pick up some whites, hybrids, walleye or stripers. I would get there around 8am. Start out with Topwater if the fish are crashing baits if not use Keitechs with 1.4oz heads in white and work them at mid-depth down to the bottom. If that doesnt produce within an hour switch to trolling with Flickershad 100 to 150 ft behind the boat or Rapalas SR 7 8 9'S in fire tiger, shad color or purple. 10lbs test line max. If you use flicker shad use 11ft diver same colors as the rapalas but also add the sunset color to them. If you do get into a surface bite turn off the fish finder or you could put the fish down.

If they are in Avoca they are in the back and the stripers will be near the fire dock. Guess im going to have to go investigate this shad sighting lol

She is almost 10ft low and that means a lot of flats are now in the 15 to 25fow range if it keeps here or a little lower Walleye and Striper fishing will be off the charts in 2 to 3 weeks. Get out the crank baits and start trolling. Set a four line spread 1 at 5fow 1 at 15 and two bouncing the bottom. Look for anyplace near a mudflat for the shad to be starting to move up on and transition banks even the slightest change should hold walleye.

I have been seeing more and more shad moving into mudflats look for fish in and around them. Start out shallow and work deeper.

Ed ive been fishing hunting for years, I just keep the rod handy in the blind more than one time I have had fish boil in the decoys and im ready for that and when fishing just keep the gun next to me on the deck. It keeps you interested all day looking for fish and birds in the air.

Its a fly Ducky ties and so far I have not found anything that wont hit it. Multiple colors and can be stripped, jigged, trolled pretty much anything you can think of. The walleye I was working a rock pile with it let it sit and jig it a couple times and they were on it. Also caught them in shallow watter casting to pockets and steady strip. Stripers seem to want it presented fast at a troll speed of 1.5mph. Sails were taken it off a teaser. Duane should be back the 10th and maybe he could post a few pictures of it.

This is exactly why I said to many people think big companies are the backbone of this nation and the truth is not even close to that. Yes in Big cities people can see the Big Business but the majority of people are in small busines operation and those small business support those big busines's. America base is small business and Mitt I beleive understands that more than Nobama. Drive down Main St USA and look at the Dinners, Hardware stores, Clothing shops etc they are small business America. That 1 or two blocks is probably supporting 1000 families where that big plant on the outskirts is probably supporting 1000 families as well but then get off Main St and you have another 5,000 families by small busines. I see America for what it is when it comes to business, Millions of small business that are driving the nation.

If I give you a dollar and tell you that you can keep whatever is left of it after you pay all the needed cost that is your profit you will quickly understand what I am saying. Contract is for 1.00 that is all you have to work with, you cannont go back and tell the client you need to add more to the cost they will hold that contract up to you and laugh.

This is what most Americans do not understand about Taxes and why Business cannot grow and increase jobs. Let us use 1.00 for simplicity; Company A needs to buy a product to build a commodity of the $1 they pay a tax of 9% on that item they are now at 91cent. They require someone to pick up the product and it takes 1 gallon of gas so they now have spent another 18.4 cent so they are now at 73 cent They must pay the employee taxes work comp etc. for 1 hour at 15.3 cent. So now they are at .58cent You must also factor in Overhead for office staff and paperwork of approximately .23 cent so now we are at .35 cent left out of the dollar You now have to have the labor to use that part to make the product of another 15.3 cent. Now you are left of that original dollar 20 cent a company’s profit . These are real life numbers But now you have the other cost associated with business, Warranty .5cent, Marketing .3cent, Maintenance .5cent, Unexpected cost 5 cent. Leaving the company a true profit for growth of 2 CENTS on the dollar, Total Tax on that dollar was approximately 80cents in all honesty. But a company must grow and it takes money to do that and at best case right now they us 18 cents of profit to grow! (I’m talking small business here the true backbone of a community and the countries growth) But now we have a knew “TAX” called ObamaCare which we still do not know its impact but know it will add to this. Reducing Taxes will help and tax credits to small business will help. But the politicians can talk all they want the truth is until they do something to lessen the cost of living on the American people and lessen the tax burden on small business in a meaningful way than all that will happen is a continuing of the current economic situation we are in. They can manipulate the math all they want but if you honestly do it and factor in business growth it simply is not a realistic world they are living in. If the government implemented a flat tax on the people and a business tax ( use a tax ID for this when buying goods ) that would be no more than 15% then yes we could see jobs growth and business growth where it would do the best good for the Nation as a whole. But they ( the government would also have to cease entitlement programs such as welfare! I am not saying completely stop it but require for payment the person must have a job after ( for a number ) 6 months and the government would then match up to the cost of living line what they recipient is not making and this program would only be good for a maximum of 5 years and only good one time only. There are many problems with this country right now and Jobs is the answer but with that answer must be accountability for those milking the system so you must have welfare reform as part of any tax/jobs package. Wow did I get on a soap box.

Buddy, I am on or read other sites and if you get information its normally very vague at best and thats if its not completely misleading. Here is diffrent the guides and the regular Joes share info freely and accurately. Its nice to have that and know you can trust it, so we are a little protective of the resource we have. This site really is like no other in that aspect. WE ALL say stupid things on occasion and take a few shots but you just have to learn to take it when you say it and move forward. Read the reports and the replies from guys who took that report info and had a great day and you will quickly see how true they are.

And I have a ton of goose jerky for you in trade. I'll go out this weekend and locate some stripers and keep tabs on them for when you get home.

I have good friend who says all wildlife is hardwired from birth and will know where and when to go to certain areas and no matter how much we think we know or what conventional wisdom tells us wildlife will prove us wrong every time. When I was collecting reptiles that knowledge took me to areas that by all wisdom said the species should not be there but I found them. Same holds true for how I hunt and fish by going to places that should not have the game but more times than not does.

Pretty much when we see them we go get them, also have guns laying next to us incase of fly overs. If they are where the guns cant be used we pull the bows. The resident goose season is all about fun, dinner and treats. Dinner is roast goose treats are jerky and sausage. So they are targets of oppertunity nothing out of bounds within the law. I mean come on I have a Wonderbread bag full of packing peanuts " they use plastic corn for decoys why not use styrofoam peanuts" ( nothing funnier than seeing 50 geese comming blasting offshore thinking they are getting a free meal only to get a load of #4's in the head ) You cant do that stunt to true wild geese lol. Or my other favorite. Place 2 dozen Full Bodies in front of you and the same bag with no peanuts and have a string ran from each decoy to your leg. move leg make decoys move like they are fighting for food and see how fast the geese come. Now regular waterfowl season its truly hunting from blinds and decoys out, but by 10am if we are not limited its guns out and if something flies by while we are fishing we shoot it. Hunting is more about the company and fun now more than anything else to me, who cares if you shoot a limit as long as the coffee is good the laughs are from the heart and the company is good.

Well went in last friday for the blood work and physical from my heart attack. Blood Presure is doing great my blood work came back real good " little high on starch area but not bad ) even lost 15lbs. Doc asked about what changes and I told him its hunting season lol. Its amazing what eating squirrel, Goose and Duck will do plus increased my intake of fish. He still wants me to hit the Omega but Im thinking some Trout are in serious trouble as they are much funner to catch and now I havea reason to experiment with ways to cook them. It has been a real eye opener guys at 43 I would never have guessed i would have had one and I can promise you I wont be missing any check-ups anymore and pay much more attention to how my body is feeling. The good lord must want me to keep the reports coming and controling the goose population. Please Please get check-ups I would like to be hearing from all of you for a long time to come.

In all seriousness I have not had one fishing guide on the rock or beaver ever say hire me for the info in fact its very much the opposite most are very willing to give the info and help you out even when they have clients. They know the best advertising is WORD OF MOUTH and by helping others the word will spread about them.

Psst Bill, a few whites were on a FOF Fly but its not a super well known one yet. So I dont talk about it much, I think Phil may have a few at the landing if he hasnt used them all lol. Duane makes them and they are the best fly I have ever used. I sent some down to FL to a few friends who have taken Sails, Wahoo, Tuna, Dolphin Snook and Reds on them already.
