  1. Quill I have looked to and a permit is required for tournaments on Beaver but ill be darn if I can find anything more than that,
  2. Keitech ( 1) swing impact, ( 2 ) swing impact fat ( 3 ) sexy impact ( 4 ) shad impact ( 5 ) Easy Shiner. Yes its that simple check my tackle box those are the only Plastics for Bass I carry. I assume this thread is about bass. If its about crappie Its all Bobby Garland baits.
  3. Oh and as to why they Bash it? I don’t know for certain but speculatively I would say they watch too many fishing shows and think they should be catching the numbers they see people on TV catch or the Size they are catching. Beaver is not FLORIDA, TEXAS or CALIFORNIA with the monster Florida Strains in it. Beaver does have a great smallmouth population IMO and respectable Black Bass population and an over abundance of Spots IMO. Heck think about how many excuses there are for losing a fish and im sure someplace in there is the lake sucks lol. Truth is its probably not the lake just the angler, oh hell I know it is I have had bad days on every lake I have fished but those days are the ones that make me go back and try and figure out what I could do better next trip.
  4. There is plenty of good bass in Beaver lake, She is known to be stubborn though but with the right conditions and times very generous. Evenings seem to always be very productive on all species of bass as do windy days off points. I have found that for all day productivity you need to move with the fish, if you catch a few in one spot in the morning and they shut down it is not they shut down but just moved deeper as a rule. When I do target bass I also do fish deeper than many people, I use long points with sloping drop-offs and target 15 to 20ft of water for them, many of my biggest smallmouth have come doing this, if I am after largemouth I really like Mudline points but especially spooning them in deep water around bait schools. Kentuckys I just find a bush in 12 to 18 fow and have fun with whatever bites. As to the stripers first is be sure you are IDing them properly I see many people mistake hybrids or big whites for them and in the 1 to 5lb range its easy to do, I sometimes have to check the patch on them to be certain when its hybrids. Typically the fish will work together in schools so if you are in a mess of small ones you might want to move, try first shallower and then deeper. More times than not I have found the Bigger stripers in shallow water especially in evenings. I actually have a favorite dock in fall they always seem to get around in 3 to 8ft but if you hit 10 plus its all whites. It never hurts to be moving when striper fishing or throw a Bucktail or Pencil Popper at shore if you are catching dinks to see if the bigger ones are there.
  5. Those are Beautiful smallies! So what was his insight?
  6. No my wife would shoot me.... ask J-doc about how possessive she is of my cooking lol

Baste both sides of walleye, Place them on a trivet in the oven at 350 for 6 minutes and flip and recoat, repeat 2 times and serve.
  8. You can hijack any of my threads with a fish like that WOW that's a nice one. You should tell those guys to get on this board it would be great to share information on their Northern Walleye tactics and our Southerns to help catch more.
  9. Those are some Nice bass great catches
  10. LOL, I don't mind the worse you can do is actually find reception and send pictures of Salmon! But hey on the flip side that could give me a chance to pick my fillets lol, But the other Party in the text scared me when he send the Sea Lion pictures, man I hate those fish on line stealing critters.
  11. I cant believe Doc and I forgot pictures
  12. Don't worry about it KJ, this is actually the time of year I love most for Walleye and Crappie, For about the next 2 months they should be easily accessible. Catch your fill of them big Lakers and when you get back send me a PM.
  13. Jigging the big one, trolling on the others. The big one was a Male full of sperm, told Jason right after I cleaned it that is a great sign, if there is a 7lb male think of the female potential.
  14. How many did I catch while you were switching from YOUR rod to Mine and then tying on a bait hmmm lmfao. But hey if you cant laugh with your friends its never bad to laugh at them.
  15. Launched at 6:30 at 12 bridge, Picked up 9 assorted fish waiting for Doc to get to the ramp, Picked him up at 7 and proceeded to torment him for the next 6 hours I wont post the numbers but it was as Lopsided as the Bama / Notre Dame game yes im rubbing it in lol... Phil don't post the above on the report please. We started out spider rigging and casting in 5 to 12 fow picking up crappie when you could weed through the small whites, hybrids and stripers. They really wanted the Bobby Garland white baby shad in a bad way, about 10;30 the wind picked up and I hooked something much larger and after some net fowl-up managed to boat a 25 3/4 inch walleye that went 7lbs on the scale. The bigger whites and hybrids decided to go on the bite at the same time and the Basspro XPS jigging spoon was putting the hurt to them ( also what the big walleye came on ). We decided to troll a bit and put a few more fish of various species in the boat and then Doc popped a very nice 21'' walleye, just before we left I hit another eye that came up and shook his head and sent the flicker shad flying! Oh well it happens. Ran in to a few other OAF members doing pretty good today, Jack It was good talking to you but I had more fun watching you trolling the up paddling. We left the lake at 1pm as the pleasure crowd was showing up.
  16. Should be some still up there but my bet is more Hickory creek to 12 bridge, I went over the bridge yesterday evening and there was plenty of lights under it which tells me they are there
  17. Springdale you would have to go to Southtown, I know they have bait. Rogers, Hook Line and Sinker.
  18. Haris; there is more reason to lose a fish than to land one as we all know. But this is what I do on all my reels to help minimize the chances it’s the reel. As soon as I buy it I take it apart and clean the inside out completely then repack with Vaseline, it is an old saltwater trick to help keep a reel smooth for years and water resistant. I will check the drag washers at least once a month and replace every 3 months depending on use. I set the drag with a fish scale, simply attach the line to a hook on the ground and lift the rod till it gets a nice arc about 30 degrees, Using 10lb test for example I will set the drag at 4lbs at the 30 degree arc. 3a. remember as line comes off a reel more drag is created in the water so you do not want to ever set the drag to tight. Using a cutip run it through the bail and check for burs and do the same on the rods guides. Before fishing pull off 100 ft of line and feel for abrasions you would be surprised how many times you will find them. Never adjust the drag during a fight it’s just asking for a lost fish. Check the drag several times a day with the scale method if you are catching a lot of fish or snagging a lot.
  19. This is true especially when it comes to Beaver lake http://libinfo.uark.edu/aas/issues/1981v35/v35a11.pdf that is older literature mind you but does show they predominately feed on Gizzard Shad
  20. You know James I have gotten to the point I typically ignore your little rants when it comes to stripers because in the past I have tried to provide you with Scientific Information for you to read for yourself. You don’t like Stripers we all get it and hey that’s your choice. Had you not brought up the word (FACT) I would have just ignored this post as just another bias unfounded rant by a person who for some reason does not like striped bass. Shame as a man who writes outdoor articles I would hope more than most that you would do the research before spouting off untruths to people and misleading people when the science completely contradicts your assertions. But again you are telling people Facts that are not true and can be disproved by research done on the subject by many state DNR agencies Biologist. This is absolutely refuted as being incorrect by numerous studies But just one study for ease of this post is By TWR on lake Norris with these findings. As you can see by the sampling, Largemouth and Spotted bass were representing only 15% predation on Clupeids ( Shad ) Yet their diet was much heavier on the Lepomids ( Sunfish ) of 50%. The studied went on to note the following; This studied is backed up by many others showing the diet percentage of bass species, so shad stocking in actuality would have little to no impact on the Bass populations, but as the research shows sunfish stocking would. Now as someone who is on Beaver on average of 150 days a year I can tell you the shad populations of both Gizzard and Threadfin have been excellent the last 5 years, this year may be different as we did have a major die-off of the young smaller year class due to extreme cold NOT due to predation.
  21. Its all about proper management of the resource. If monitored and managed correctly a lake can be highly productive with multiple species available. I was a little surprised when they said they put in regular Musky and not just Tigers, that to me says they are trying to get a breeding population going so why put in the Tigers would be my only question. Cool video.
  22. There is a line in Miranda Lamberts song AUTOMATIC that say it all about working out problems and that is to stay married. Divorce is way to simple a way out and should not be granted by the courts so easily.
  23. Jerry, I see it mostly from younger anglers when it comes to fishermen not showing respect to each other, I always have to wonder if they did not have Family or older Mentors to teach them respect. They get a boat and want to be the next KVD and know nothing about putting in dues and respecting others. I know its not just fishing but dam it frustrates me to see it. I know if I ever treated others that way growing up I wouldn't have been sitting right for a month. I watched a younger angler this weekend early 20's brand new ranger on the bow casting the banks he was going so fast he was not retrieving the bait but the line. I asked him how he was doing and he told me they were not biting. My first thought went to Quill, RPS and others who are killing them on the Ned and if this kid would slow down I bet he would have caught a few. But made me wonder if he had that mentor growing up?
  24. OP I have to ask it and I know its a thread jack but why would you use pepper spray instead of giving him the ultimate hand to hand lesson. I mean come on it would be the greatest youtube video ever... I can see the title now ( Young punk thinks he can take the old man! little did he know who he was messing with ) Hell I say get Glen to video it even his laughter through it would be better than a sound track.
  25. Green Yak black trim, Rigged palm beach style to holders on either side angled forward and bobbers out the back angler was cast third rod forward at my marker and then dragged both bobbers right next to it had a fish finder on the port side with the unit in front of him. Young guy early 20's. I wouldnt have been mad at all if he would have just asked if he could have fished but to just come in and go right over the markers was what triggered me. In Arkansas you are responcible for your Wake and intentionally waking someone is actually Assault .... Throwing in the boat to rip the rods out could be multiple violation.
