    Hybrids

I guess no one us fishing so I just went anyways. Caught a few 5-7 lbers drifting. Fished Saturday evening. No top water yet, but the water got really dirty Sunday morning so we didn't fish. Just came home. Figured it was from all the rain coming down the Osage. Bait was thick and easy to find. Fun for the wife and I for a short trip anyway.

    Hybrids

Anybody know if the hybrids are on the humps yet? I haven't been for three weeks but found some at the dam when they were running water last time.
  3. I fish for hybrids on Truman and upper LOZ. Like wrench said, I didn't think they had stocked them for awhile but always here of a couple being caught from time to time. Didn't know if this was people confusing them with hybrids? Hybrids are just as fun though and we regularly catch some in excess of 10 lbs.
  4. I have a hard time finding bait down there. I usually bring mine with me in my bait tank. I sometimes find them in swan, but rarely and can't count on it. Don't like driving an hour and a half then not be able to find bait.
  5. I was out they last Wednesday night with 10"live Shad and nothing either. Two were flat lines and two were running about a foot off the bottom. I was also throwing a big swimbait here and there. Hopefully I will get lucky one of these trips. I have had five big ones hooked up over the last two seasons, but none landed. One got into the fence and broke me off when the water was really high two summers ago. Another head shook on the surface and through the hook. The others were on lures and were lost due to slack and no trailer hook while handing the rod to my wife to reel it in. Oh well, the chase is half the fun and it's always nice to be on the water!
  6. How big were the ones from the recent stocking? Getting excited to chase those little guys.
  7. Anybody know water temps near beaver creek?

    Cats?

Where is Coffman located? Will be there this weekend and would love to try and catch a big flathead. Also I have heard mention of chicken rock? Is this near state park? Thanks in advance.
  9. Do you find many in there. I would think they would have a good population since they are not talked about too much? Only caught a couple of small ones, but have seen some pics if 20 lbers. I almost exclusively rod and reel fish for cats, but had a friend come from out of town, and want to do a TROT line, had never done it and really wanted to. So I borrowed one and a set it in a fishy spot. Had a bunch if channels, a 7 lb walleye and 8/0 Gamakatsu hook straightened(not completely as they break, but enough to know something big bent it), and one completely broke/wore through the braided nylon dropper line on one hook? I am going to meet friends this weekend and am taking my cat rods to see if we get anything interesting. Will post if we do.
  10. Also, have any of you guys had fish literally head but your boot trying to get you to move your foot to kick up more food? I have had them hit my shin and just figured that was what they were doing. Curious about this.
  11. There is not enough food to sustain the number of trout they stock in a stream that size. That is why they are eating guts and anything else they can find. IMO, I think a person with the right presentation can catch as many as they want on a natural nymph pattern. No matter purist or a guy that fishes over fish carcasses, i try to remember we all still love to just catch fish. Some have not been lucky enough to have been shown other ways of catching them, but it is still fishing relative to ones perception.
  12. When you guys say rocks, are you talking about the rip rap under the bridge or the bluffs?
  13. I went last Friday evening. Pretty dead. Water temp was only 52, so I left and went above dam and caught some blue cats.
  14. The double uni knot is what I use with nano and suffix. Even use half of the knot on my fly line. Bites into the floating line so well, i don't need to tie the other half with the fly line. Really easy and fast. Have never had a problem with it.
  15. They were running water when I got there at 6. Fished until 8 and caught around 15 whites on topwater. Crappie were being caught as well.
  16. Have you heard of anyone catching any of the recently stocked stripers? I am going to try for them this year and was curious how big they are now. Maybe 4-5 lbs?

    snagging

We caught 5 and lost 2 on opening day. All were males and caught from 40-60 ft of water.
  18. Not sure, but probably to help protect them once they get to the dam and stack in so thick. Its the same on LOZ by Truman Dam. It is illegal to snag above the 65 bridge there.
  19. Just fyi, its illegal to snag above the 54 bridge.
  20. I will check that out. Thanks!
  21. What do you guys use to get water spots off your aluminum?
  22. I want to apologize for my outburst the other day. It was not over the one comment made in this thread, but more over several condescending comments I have read from a few that just seem to ridicule people for what this site, I feel, is intended for. I did not mean to vent several months of frustration on one statement, it just seemed to have negative undertones as have some posts by others about possibly causing overcrowding due to a good fishing report. I do see both sides of the conversation, but don't think someone should be ridiculed for simply posting a fishing report or not posting anything for fear of ridicule. I hope we all can just get back to what we are all hopefully here for, talk and maybe some advice on something we all love, fishing.
  23. No, mine is a deep v combo with windshield. I was just giving input on Tracker in general. Basically what you said. Don't sacrifice horsepower no matter what style of boat and wish they had more storage. Other than that, I love mine.
  24. So? It is a public lake right? I have kept my opinions to myself while reading a lot of these posts, but I don't think I can anymore. This gentleman is doing what I thought this sight was intended for. This is the second time he has had a negative comment for what? A fishing report? Guys like me work all week and have little time to spend on the water to even come close to patterning fish. At least his reports give me hope and make me want to get out there and try? Why don't you egocentric fisherman call this website what it is? A glorified bragging board where if we post to much info we get antagonistic comments and judged, if we don't post anything, we are labeled creepers. People like me don't want to post for fear of ridicule from others like you. Hopefully this mindset will change, until then, I will be cautious of what I post as I already do so I am not upsetting anyone. Duck, great report and keep them coming. It brightens my week while I am stuck in the office wishing I could be fishing. And to whoever my thoughts offend, I apologize, but keep in mind, this site was intended for everyone to enjoy and learn from.
  25. I bought a brand new pro guide 175 last January. It has the four stroke 115. Would not have liked the 90 horse. 90 is enough for 16 foot boats, but is a little too small in my opinion for the 17. Upgraded the fish finder and added a bank charger. Glad I did. The only thing I would like different with the Trackers is more storage. Like Fins said, I would much rather the front livewell to be water proof storage as I don't use it as a bait tank or fish storage. I just throw my hybrids straight in a cooler with ice like they do with fish offshore. Runs great and is really comfy for the wife. I would look for last years models if there are any left. I found mine in St Louis. It is a 2013 that they used for pics which took a year of the warranty for the motor, but they gave me the 5 year extended warranty for free. Only gave 19,000 for it which I think is a good deal for a new boat that had 2 hours on the motor? Haven't had any issues with the boat, but the trailer tires that came with it is another story. They went bald in 10 months. I would recommend pulling it a lot that first year and then get them to warranty the tires before the 1 year warranty runs out like I did. All in all, I really like my Tracker. It rides good in all conditions and sips gas.
