  1. I've watched these shows for years, pretty good show they put on usually! That part of the Current is on the other side of the county where I live, it has always had a great reputation for good bass fishing. They mentioned there's good Walleye in there, and there is good walleye fishing in Late January into Feb. I went walleye fishing one time, and came home with a mess of Catfish in the middle of the winter when I realized the Walley weren't biting, there's a little bit of everything in there! Thanks for Posting..
  2. Sounds like a lot of fun, and some good eating. I had a buddy one time bring me some Red Snapper he caught down around Grand Isle, let me tell ya, that stuff was good.
  3. Awesome pics and report, I to love seeing this increase as well. I was down there for the holidays, but it was during the blizzard. I only went to one walk in spot, but didn't have the luck you guys did, congrats!!
  4. Awesome video as always!! Just when I feel good about the few video's i've made, I watch yours then wanna crawl into a hole.... Awesome Job!!
  5. I was planning to go fishing here, but after 16 inches of snow, the ramp was in no way shape to put in, so decided to take some pics instead, hopefully i'm going to a walk in place later to try some trout!! These were taken near Dripping Springs access, and Pangburn Bridge.
  6. Really cool show Field and Stream's Joe Cermele did on the White River!! http://www.fieldandstream.com/videos/fieldandstream/hook-shots/2012/05/fs-hook-shots-episode-3-season-4-arkansas-trout-rampage
  7. Thanks Marcus, I'll have to check that out sometime. Have you ever heard of Jacks Shoal? That's a place not very well known I don't think, plus was just named that recently from an angler that lives around there, he fishes like every day on that river and got recognized for it I guess. It's up a ways from dripping springs, and you have to drag to get to it. You won't see anybody there usually except some of the local guides, as you have to work to get to it in this low water. I went there a couple years ago, and it was crazy good. I don't plan to let the cold run me off, I'm here as we speak at the In laws with my supreme hooked up, have to see what this blizzard we are suppose to get is going to do....
  8. Merry Christmas everyone!!
  9. Thanks everybody! Yes, I do retrieve the spinning rod with the right hand, I taught myself how to cast one of those as a little boy, as my Dad was only a spincast guy, just the way I've always done it. I'm a little rusty but I used to have the same rig for 10 years I fished with, I could hit a dime from about anywhere, not that practiced anymore...lol I'm still kinda new to the flyrod, but have learned alot in the past 3 years. This was on the Eleven Point..
  10. Nice report, guess I'm not familiar with Richie.. I'm headed down that way tonight to head to the inlaws. I"m pulling my Supreme down there, so I'm going fishing after the Christmas. The forcast is calling for 9 inches of snow here in Northeast AR, but down there like maybe an inch, but gonna be cold, so I'll be prepared. I'm thinking about going to a place I haven't been in a couple years, it will require pulling my boat through a shallow spot or two to get two it in this minimal flow, but if I can get there, the fishing should be great!!
  11. Brian sloss is the resident fly fishing expert there, but i catch trout there using jigs under an indicator, as well as on spinning gear. Egg patterns work as well. If your fly fishing, Brian can fill you in the best. I've had good luck recently fishing jigs with spinning gear just jigging it back to the boat using the pop and drop technique. Good luck and give is aa report!
  12. I was up there fishing last week, you shouldn't have any trouble with a canoe, as long as you stay below Greer. The spring isn't putting out the water like normal, but still plenty to canoe. Right now, that is the clearest water I've ever fished, beautiful really, but hard to fish. Can still catch plenty of trout, but the smallies are really spooky.
  13. AGFC studies the Hellbender pretty intestively in the Eleven Point, here's a link to a show they did showing a little of what they do..This video has some fishing footage in it to, but the hellbender portion is on the back half. http://vimeo.com/30318567
  14. Yeah, I notice when listening to myself my southern accent tends to come out strong...lol. I wasn't expecting to catch those smaller rainbows on a jerkbait like that, but turned out to be the hot bait of the day. Sounds like a plan, love to meet you there sometime, looks like you'd have a pretty good drive. Plan on going next week possibly, but we may hit the arkansas side of the Eleven point, the water will be "greener" and alot more wood cover, for the smallmouth.
  15. Fishing reports seem slow this time of the year, so thougth I would post this here also! I called this the mixed bag report because we did catch 4 different species of fish. Hit the river yesterday in the Supreme with my buddy Chad, as Cabin fever was setting in, as I had been home with my sick little boy for the last few days. We decided to head to the point where 3 weeks ago we had a really good time catching some trout, plus we could target some smallies as well. The water is as low as ever, and if it's possible, even clearer than it was 3 weeks ago. When the water is slick it's impossible to hide you self, this really makes it difficult to catch any smallmouth, so we looked at times for places on the river that had chop from the wind, and current. We started off using flyrods and decided to find current as it can help give us cover in the gin clear water. We started off getting some bites early on, my buddy was just fishing a jig on his, and I had a san jaun, with a zebra midge dropper. We did this for about an hour with some success, I hooked a couple good ones that got off before they got to the boat. After that my buddy found his spinning rod, as did I, and we tryed zig jigs for awhile, they two produced some trout, although not near as fast of action as they did a few weeks ago. Then brown and orange was the color it seemed, this day is was white they seemed to like. In the process of catching a few trout, we targeted some smallies as well, so was hoping the jigs might catch a smallie as well. They where were very spooky and very hard to catch. After a while I also had a rod rigged up with a RC STX jerkbait, and I started throwing it around cover and around some dark water near the banks. I was trying to trigger the smallmouth into a reaction bite. On about my 5th cast or so, this behemouth of Pickeral darted out and started staring my jerkbait down, id give the twitch, and it would get close enough to smell it but didn't take it. Finally I gave it lighter twitch, and bam, the fight was on. Unfortunately it spit the hooks out at the boat, and I forgot to have my gopro turned on to catch the excitment, but it might of very well been a 24 incher, by far the biggest one I would of ever landed. As for smallies, they were pretty elusive, but did manage to catch a few, only one of any size and it was only about 15 inches. I caught the biggest one from under a fallen tree, where I actually made a sidearm cast to get under some limbs. All in all, a pretty good day on the river, had to work for the fish, but it was well worth it!! Here's a video link I threw together last night, we didn't catch any bragging fish really, but had a great time, caught some decent fish, and of course the scenery. Saw several eagles, and no people other than Brain Sloss at the boat ramp to visit for minute. Really, is there ever really a bad day when you fishing in the Ozarks, I think not!
  16. I take lots of pictures usually, because for me, i don't get to fish as much as I like to. The main reason I do, isn't just to post them, but years and decades down the road, looking back at old pics is a neat deal. I"ve taken it a step farther and have been taking a gopro camera with me, it wears on my cap, and it easy to take vids, and also snaps quick picks. Takes very little time to do so, doesn't effect the release of the fish much at all for me. I'm not on the river near as much as many of you, except this time of year maybe, so it's a very special thing for me to be out there.

  19. Sweet Fish, and great to see a report on this forum! I caught a brook last year fishing down from jfk, after the river split comes back together before Lindseys, it wasn't as big as yours there, but nice, and my first brook! I'm fishing down there during the holidays, so hopefully I can add to the reports! One of the least talked a bout rivers on this forum, but possibly the best trout river here, IMO....
  20. Very interesting indeed, "that" river sounds like a good one...lol. Great report as always, makes me wanna head to the river right now!!
  21. Great respones guys! Since i've posted this we've got about 2 inches of rain here at my place, but we need so much more. Brian Sloss told me the other day we need a 10 inch rain, at first I wasn't so sure about that, but after seeing what little effect even a 2 inch rain has now, I believe he's right. I have worried about the small creeks myself. On the way to Hardy we cross Martins creek, which is a nice little wade fishing creek, small fish but alot of them usually. I"ve crossed that creek for 30 plus years that I remember, and it's always running. This year it basically was just a trickle through some of the rocks. The places you fish are pools, but they are rarely more than waist deep, hopefully the effects wasn't to devastating.
  22. Great Report Brian, and Happy Birthday!! I've got to float that stretch with you in the Walt one of these days. Glad the Zig Jigs worked out for ya. Would like to make it back up there sometime this week, if I do I'll holler at ya, might need somebody to go with me..... Ditto on the pretty trout right now, in all my years of trout fishing, those are by far, the prettiest colored trout I've ever caught. Must be the crystal clear water we've had for so long now?
  23. Sweet Video, loved it!!
  24. I was discussing this with some friends the other day, on how dry it has been in the past year or more now. I know that some streams can handle the droughts better than others due to more springs feeding them. In turn, how has this affected the fish in these streams? I had heard that some of the western AR streams have been affected worse than some, one in particualar that's been mentioned is the Kings river. Time will tell, I'd like to think the fish know how to survive. I was astonished on how low the Eleven Point was a few weeks ago still, and it probably has handled this drought better than most streams. Was curious on some of my fellow OA folks opinons and observations on what your seeing in your area?
  25. Wow, that looks bad!! Wonder how long that had been in there?
