Baits And Tackle From Japan
Gary Lange replied to Larry Richards's topic in General Angling Discussion
I don't buy them at the prices they are now so it is unlikely that I will purchase them at an even more inflated price. -
My good friend Norm was stopped today and advised that he shouldn't bother fishing for at least a week after the time change so as to give to fish time to get acclimated to the new time. So if any of you have been out and didn't catch anything it isn't your fault as the fish are just not used to the time change yet.

Those Internet Petitions are just about useless and not worth the time and effort put into the argument for or against. Nobody will ever read it or use it for anything. They are are a complete waste of time.

I saw this on my ISA site and thought it looked interesting in that it breaks down into three sections and can be used as a Solo or Tandem Kayak. It also comes in both sit up on and sit in models and the prices are not bad either. http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/69064?feat=69097-ppxs&dds=y

Having the place stay at 52 degrees may have had something to do with the temps in the crawl space also. Good to know that setting it at 52 for the winter will keep things working for when you return.

Chief wrote: Can a bass tell the difference between a real craw and a Wee Craw?? I don't think so. I don't think they have the capacity too. It is doubtful that slight variations of color in prey makes a huge difference in stream bass. I have certain colors that a I like to use and think that produce better than some others. And that maybe due to me using them more than others too. I also don't think don't think that bass, or any other predator fish, can discern the difference in wobble. Both provide an action that triggers their instinct and induces a strike. I agree with the Chief that the Smallmouth sees a meal getting away and grabs it without thinking about it or really looking at it. I agree also that they just don't have the capacity to do so and act out of impulse. They see something move and are attracted to the movement and it looks like something they can eat so they grab it.

When I fished Stream Smallies up in Illinois in the Winter the one go to lure was a 1/16oz. Jighead with a Pearl 2" Twister. It had to be Pearl also not white. That would get them when nothing else would. I haven't done much Stream fishing down here but hope to get a Canoe this year so I can get out on the local waters.

Good to hear you still alive and kickin. Working on the Railroad is a good job especially if you can be a regular railroader and pay into the Railroad Retirement fund and when you retire you get a real nice salary. It sure is good to me.

I knew the Float n Flay would work Joe. Glad you guys got out and enjoyed the river. I do need to get me a canoe soon. I love your choice in fishing partners. Fishing with her would be good even if you caught nothing.

Just find the deeper holes and fish with a float N fly and don't worry about the water temp. Fish it slow near the bottom and you will get some action I am sure.

My money went to Bass Pro Shop today! :D :D :D

That is funny but I can tell you from experience that the Fox River in Illinois is one fine Smallmouth fishing spot. It has given up some 20" Smallmouths and has plenty of 15"-19" to keep you happy. It is a great river to wade or float.

Fly Fishing Video....my Boys.
Gary Lange replied to Brian Wise's topic in General Angling Discussion
That is the first time I have watched that and I was impressed with the concentration and the reflexes they have. I can tell they really love Flyfishing and being out doors. They get older and you won't see them hanging around the house with the video games. You are a good father for sure. -
Gettin A Boat, Got Some Questions.
Gary Lange replied to Dapper Dan Man's topic in General Angling Discussion
Well I guess I haven't changed or aged much because I always took good care of my stuff. I guess it is pride in ownership or just having to work hard for what I got. -

Gettin A Boat, Got Some Questions.
Gary Lange replied to Dapper Dan Man's topic in General Angling Discussion
Owning a boat is all about proper maintenance. I put Stabil and Quick Clean in ever tank of fuel. Change the water pump impeller at least every other year. Maintain the batteries by keeping proper fluid levels and keeping the charging system going. Washing and maintaining the hull with wax and cleaning the seats and carpet. They cost a lot of money to buy and I can't see them setting around with no cover and just getting wet and dirty. It is a lot like a house and I see people paying tons of hard earned money for things like a house, boat, truck, car or motorcycle and they neglect them all and let them got to pot. It never makes sense to me why people pay good money for something and then are just to lazy to take care of it. -
We need to have some seminars and talk fishing, fishing lures, fishing streams, rivers, and creeks. Talk rods, reels, line. Talk about Canoe's Kayaks and other types of stream floating possibilities.

Weird Winter Weather Puzzles Scientists

I don't listen to them at all. I would think that if we were fighting for this oil that it would be ours for free and our fuel prices would be down. We have freed it for export but imagine it is being sold at the 90+ a barrel like the rest is. -
