  1. I was down there Sunday morning and never had a bite. There were a few chasing shad but were clear out in the center of the river, no way to reach them. Glad to see you had a good time and caught some fish.
  2. Only pattern we found was tight line, no float and hold the minnow as steady as you could close to the tree. Hedge and the real branchy oaks were best. Dad had a slip float on and just the wave action seemed to move the minnow too much. I use the knot portion only of a bobber stop, just as a reference, hold it at water line.
  3. I have trolled with 14# Fireline for several years now, no issues at all.
  4. Caught these on Truman yesterday, 2 of us had 28.
  5. Okay thanks. I will look at the starter again and see if it looks like the spring and gear can come off if a keeper is not on there.
  6. J40ELERE Hope there is no next time. Never even looked at the top of the starter before I pecked with the 9/16" wrench that I was checking the battery connections with.
  7. Went out and tried to crank the boat tonight, dead battery but starter hung. When I opened the lid up and noticed the gear was hung I tapped on top of the drive with an end wrench, big mistake as I broke the plastic/phenolic cap on the drive. Does this hurt much for the short term and can it be replaced without a starter rebuild?
  8. Hickory Hollow.
  9. They were way up on the Arkansas side of the Kings river last weekend. Maybe 5 miles or so up there. I would bet those fish layed eggs this week.
  10. Wheaties, make a dough with either strawberry soda or water. Build a ball on a treble hook and hold on.
  11. Nobody is giving advice so that must mean the fishing is so good that its a secret. Probably start off searching with Flicker Shads and then dead drift or jig minnows. I was hoping to find some eyes that far down the lake. Have to wait a week to see.
  12. Good thing because there is a large supply of Flicker Shad in the boat and a bunch of sassy shad. Hoping rains aren't too heavy before we hit it and the bride can enjoy 3 days of fishing.
  13. We will be staying at Hickory Hollow in a couple of weeks and am wondering what to expect of the fishing around the Kings River area? Hoping to hit either crappie or walleye at that time. Wondering what the best baits or lures may be. I am able to set up for trolling either crankbaits or spinner rigs for eyes or anything for the crappies. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks and tight lines.
  14. Ok from what research I had done I was thinking it was going to be easy but became confused because had heard about plugging in to the control panel on some engines. Digital tach is tach only and no SC. If you do have a tach that works and are interested in selling it Imay be interested in purchasing it. PM me please.
  15. I am wanting to purchase a tach to hook up to my 1994 Johnson 40 hp. and become confused as I do my research. I currently have the systems check lights only and want to purchase a tach with the lights in it. Am I able to buy a tach that has the female plug/8 male pins, just unplug my current wiring from the back of the systems check instrument and plug into new tach?? I understand I will have to wire my night light. I found a digital tach only that has a 3 prong hook up but cannot find where it would plug in under my cowl. Digital tach has female boot with 3 male pins and I cannot find any male boot with female pins under cowl to hook this up. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Brian
  16. I have been wanting to get a couple reels to troll for walleye and crappie and would like to have them with line counters. Does anybody have any recommendations? The reels I have looked at are larger reels that I dont really want or need the line capacity. I was also wondering if I would be as well off with the simple clamp on counters? Any info would be appreciated.
  17. Has anbody been getting out and crappie fishing the last 3 hours or so of daylight? Wondered if seems better than daylight. Thanks
  18. See a lot posted about Cedar ridge. What makes it such a hotspot? using lights?
  19. Heading down late tomorrow afternoon to try a little night fishing for eyes and crappie. Cant decide whether to go to Ruark or up by Orleans. I assume you were drowning minnows?
  20. Yes did mean Y hiway. Lol
  21. Can anybody tell me the name of the store at the corner of H hiway and 215 hiway? Do they sell minnows and other bait?
  22. Been catching many around Sisters Creek? Be staying close to there in 2 weeks.
  23. Found Sprongfield Cove on a map that was posted on another topic in here but still wondering what all the talk is about Cedar Ridge??
  24. Nice bunch of fish!! Exactly where is Springfield Cove if you dont mind me asking? Heading down next weekend for a little night fishing. Keep hearing about the night fishing at Cedar Ridge so thought I would try that area. Is there anything that makes it a better area? Usually fish from State Park to dam and Ruark Bluff area.
