  1. Chief, you have apparently mistaken me for someone worthy of arguing with. I'm not here to enlighten society to the real ways of the world. I'm just here shooting the bull with fishing buddies and entertaining myself. It's way more fun to assume, than it is to spend hours digging up bogus financial statements that are more padded and biased than my assumptions could ever be.
  2. Provide data ? OK let's see... Tan~Tara = Data pretty plush dig. Lodge of Poor Reasons = Data little less plush but cost 'bout same. Could the Runge Nature center have worked for the same meetings ? I bet so.
  3. How many buckets you got, injun !?
  4. Good deal. And yeah, a #14 is a #14. Where have I heard that before ?
  5. I seriously think it would be a great learning/teaching tool. If I had a fly shop I'd buy one.
  6. RE; the Half&Half.... Clouser totally loose their mojo for me as soon as I add a pair if feather tips to them. I assume that others have success with them but for some crazy reason I am not one of them. They sure look good to me though.
  7. . I knew that'd fire you up. I don't give two hoots what or how they spend their excess money, I just know that I am gonna go postal if they start gating off accesses that have already been paid for. Future "maintenance and liability insurance" be dammed. Maybe some of that excess cash should go into a trust to ensure future use of the accesses in the event they do receive a funding cut someday. And if doing so means a little less plush digs for their meetings then I'm certainly OK with that, and they should be too. Have the shindigs at one of their Nature centers ! Nothing lasts forever dammit ! However, I would accept a return of .02 - .08% (or whatever it is) of every dollar I've spent in Missouri if they'd like to start barricading places. Fair is fair. No ?
  8. A positive fishing experience. Forced on 18000 inner city kids that couldn't care less. Meanwhile "kids fishing day" around here is locally funded and happens twice every year, is attended by kids that WANT to, and gets zero a$$i$tance from MDC.
  9. Today's program was brought to you by the word "Flabbergast".
  10. The thing that still FLABBERGASTS me is that IF their funding was to be cut (whether partially or completely) they would start throwing up gates. That is like threatening to lock your parents out of their house because after 30 years they are getting too old and broke to feed you and do your laundry.
  11. That's par for the course. Actually I slipped this one by her, she was preoccupied with the holidays I think.
  12. No, both styles are wrapped. The one with marabou tail is just wrapped down the marabou stem (Google: Shannon Streamer). The other is a looped and "furled" extension. There are two types of yarn there. The raggy looking stuff is something my wife came up with when I sent her searching for Baby blanket yarn. The other tighter looking stuff is more like the chenille we are accustom to..
  13. Been awhile, but don't the vinyl skirts float like a cork ? The buoyancy of the vinyl might be a key to the silly thing. Better guard the ones you have left and hoard any that you can still find.
  14. I love mysterious stuff like this. For the love of God, man OPEN IT ! Reminds me of these little notes I found in the woods where I squirrel hunted when I was a teenager. They were in tiny envelopes tied to branches with yarn, and had little messages like... "The time is near", and another 3 trees away said "He is coming", and then there would be another one saying " Cleanse yourself". Then "Are you ready?" It was pretty dam creepy until I came across the one that had a drawing of Jesus on it and directions to a little one room country church with boarded up windows and a parking lot big enough for maybe 6 cars and a hitching post. It worked, I went. Got some weird stares too (Long hair, bell bottoms, prolly reeking of Colombian shake, and obviously quite stoned). Listened politely to the sermon, sang a few songs, got saved....and then put all the little notes in the collection plate.
  15. That is odd. I'd have to open that up and see what was so special about those receipts. The lid has to have been cracked before, right ? Otherwise it was sealed at the bottling co.
  16. Sure. The one with the chartreuse marabou tail is the best choice for smallies. Fishes like a fluke but there is a learning curve to casting it well. The stuff holds a lot of water. I believe there's one stuck in this ones face
  17. Can you still get those old style vinyl skirts, and do you like them better than silicone ?
  18. Right on. Gotta have buzzard for twang. Eagle for bling. Goose is kinda passe.
  19. How small of a nymph will you fish on 4x, Al ?
  20. Both. Water is water. But truthfully I don't think I've ever been on a good shallow crankbait bite when "current" was a factor. Oh wait...the Rebel craw has a round bill, and that's another one that has some serious bass mojo! I just don't know. I'm not sure the whole "square bill" classification is a useful thought process to get into. It has become a buzzword, and nothing else.
  21. I know guides on the SJ use 6lb.Trilene tied to 18-20 midges and do well, and I got my butt spanked by a guy standing next to me using 4x on a #18 Adams wet once, but I still can't fish heavy tippet on small fly's with any confidence. I use 4x on #10-6 with a loop knot. 5x on #14-12 and still use a loop. 6x on #16-20 with a figure 8 knot And 7x on #22-26 (on the rare occasion that I go that small) and use the figure 8.
  22. I'm not even aware of a "round bill" unless you are referring to the old Bomber shallow divers, or Humpback Rebels. The big Strike King KVD has become a staple of mine. The smaller version just doesn't seem to have the same mojo as the big one though so if I feel the need to size down I throw a Bandit 100, cuz that sucker has fish mojo in spades. SHORT fish mojo...but mojo nonetheless. I have gotten to where I rely more on a 1/2oz. RedEye Shad instead of a square bill crank around shallowish wood cover and I think I do better with it. The ability to stop and drop after the bait crashes into a piece of cover seals the deal better for me than a brief pause with a floating crankbait.
  23. The biots on a natural goose feather are awesome, I use them on a couple of productive patterns. And the other side is good for wing cases. Never throw anything away!
  24. 3 Abraham Lincoln pics hit my box today. Hooks will be on their way to y'all tomorrow or Monday.
