I wouldn't give up on that tree bite too early Quillback. I caught several out of trees Sunday later in the day, but that's because the boat traffic was too crazy for me to leave!
Fished Sunday out of big m . Caught a couple swimming a grub to suspended fish and 1 fish on a drop shot with a tiny fluke. That was the only bite I had on the drop shot. I caught a couple dragging a jig and Carolina rigged trick worm. At about noon I finally got into some fish suspended in trees off a point. The only way I could get bit is right in the middle of those trees.
I've only fished table rock for 3 years now and one thing I can say for sure is that every year has been different from the one before. I found some shad up shallow yesterday morning spawning but very few bass chasing them. Past two years on memorial weekend there was a shad spawn and a decent Topwater bite. Maybe I need some expert help cause this lake is making me crazy!
My problem this year has been catching the bigger sized kentuckys. I've yet to catch them consistently, just on here and there. On the other hand, I've had no problem catching the 11" to 14" spots.
Not sure who makes it, but there is bait tape designed exactly for that. Just wrap it around to keep more pressure on it. Would especially work well for jig trailers that tend to slip down when trying to throw it a mile.
Yep from point 22 to owl creek I saw a lot of boats, mostly bass boats but the cruisers are starting to make their way out. I believe that was Quillback that came up beside me when I was heading out.
