  1. Hey Wrench what kind of price can you get on a good reman Lower unit. The motor is a 20" shaft Yamaha vx225TLRZ 2001. Or if you think it would be cheaper a rough idea of what you would charge to rebuild mine. I know for sure it will need the usual bearings and seals. Then will need a complete gear set and prop shaft. You can call me if you would rather 660-679-1417 thanks.
  2. I have one but the hydraulic lift doesn't work and I'm sure yours doesn't work either and that is why you are looking for one. I bought mine direct from the manufacturer Springfield Marine. If you go to their website they have a scratch and dent section you can click on at the top of the page. I just looked and right now they don't have the snap in type but when I was looking I kept going back and looking and in about 3-4 days they had one and it was half price of new and it works great other than a few scratches.
  3. Thanks for the reply fishinwrench reviews are all over the place. Some people have had no problems but a lot of people have had had them fail 3 or 4 times during the 3 year warranty period. I'm sure you know they are made in China. Few things I'm not crazy about they are not painted only in primer so won't have baked on finish and not crazy about the low rpm 10 hour break in period. Would rather spend more for a good reman. Than be down all summer messing with a cheap aftermarket unit that keeps going out.
  4. After doing some research online looks like they honor their warranty but quality may be an issue especially on bigger motor.
  5. Hit something with my 225 Yamaha the other day bent the prop shaft and broke a tooth off of the pinion gear. Insurance said they won't rebuild it they will just replace with a reman. lower unit. Question is has anyone ever ran one of the SEI lower units they are new and cheaper than reman. with 3 year no fault warranty. Just wondering if they are any good.
  6. Went out today cold muddy water on Pomme side at least as far up as 83 Marina. Tried crappie and bass without a bite. May try Lindley side tomorrow see if it's any better.
  7. Was kind of surprised yesterday when I drove across Nemo bridge it was off colored but didn't look terrible. But that was from the bridge so probably not as clear as it looked. I haven't been out since Monday it was 3-4 foot visibility in places away from the channel and chocolate milk anywhere around the channel with a lot of huge floaters. Unfortunately haven't been back out because I I hit something and broke a tooth off of pinion gear in the lower unit. May get out this afternoon and weekend with my brother in law after we reseal his lower unit and put in a water pump. If we make it out will let you know how it goes. Oh by the way caught a few Crappie when I was out but couldn't get on any bass.
  8. If I hit something and ripped my lower unit off it would be covered under the insurance policy I have on mine.
  9. If anyone is interested dropped price to $4000 OBO. Will make someone a good boat.
  10. Price dropped to $3500

  13. My son bought another truck and is wanting to sell this one. The truck is in good shape except AC doesn't work. Truck has 120000 miles When we fixed it up for him 3 years ago we put new Dick Cepek wheels on it along with full tune up new ecm, leveling kit, ball joints, u-joints, lock out hubs, new clutch and slave cylinder. We put new alternator and water pump on it last fall and he just put new 33/12.50/15 Dick Cepek Extreme Country tires on it a few months ago. The truck is an XL with 4.9 liter straight 6 with a 5 speed manual transmission. I can get more pictures if interested. Truck is at Pomme De Terre Reduced to $3500 Scott can call or text 660-679-1417
  14. The Crappie will really move to the banks in the evenings. Like Mopan said hit shallow cover. You will hear a lot of turkeys gobbling while on the water. And I 2nd the finding morels nothing better than crappie and mushrooms.

  22. I replaced the seals and o-rings I bought the repair kit with the new end caps and o-rings. After reading your post I may have been better off getting a new cylinder. But installed mine last spring with a lot of run time since then and so far no leaks and steering is still tight.
