  1. Don't know if this will help, but last spring did really well on big crappie in that area, was fishing it twice a week, from 6 until dark. Seems like there were no real honey holes, just spots we could run and catch a few, then on to another spot to catch a few more. Usually would have at least 10-12 apiece by the end of the evening, once in a while a limit, which made for some good dinners. Usually focused on the deeper coves around any type of structure....Bass, I'm not by any means a very good lake fisherman, but I did OK on the points near the main channel on wiggles warts and swimming 4" grubs, nothing spectacular though.
  2. ....is catching an 8 lb. bass full of eggs while crappie fishing a tube jig with four pound test. I love big farm ponds. ....is hitting a local stream before dark and catching and releasing 5 fighting bronzebacks with numerous goggleye to keep one busy. I love ozark streams. ....is living and fishing in this part of the world during the spring! I love SW Missouri. What a weekend!

The following is a report from the El Dorado Springs Sun Newspaper " Taberville report by Bobby Dains Dains Fish Farm Several spoonbills were caught the first couple of days. The biggest I weighed here went 77 lbs. It was good opening day, just what I figured it would be. I gathered that it was the best between Roscoe and Taberville. I knew they were thick up here. They even caught several under the bridge. When you went above the bridge, you really had to know a lot about it. It was good fishing, but it gets brushy and they weren't everywhere. They were in the holes. A lot of people limited out in their boats. The fish are still there, but who wants to fish when it is uncomfortable. Fish had to be moving because they just kept catching them under the bridge all weekend. The general run is bigger than last year. Upper Truman report by Carol Loomis Charlie's Rod and Gun Spoonbilling is going real good. I've seen a 90 and an 87 pounder. These were at Roscoe going toward Red Rock. They are getting lots of them. I've heard both up and down river. Roscoe has been the hot spot. "

Dain's fish farm and bait shop is just south of the Taberville bridge (hwy. H?), they used to be able to tell you what is going on in the area
  5. Since I am somewhat a neighbor to SKMO, I guess I will introduce myself....I am from Cassville MO. Fish Roaring River once in a great while, Table Rock about 10 times a year. The rest of my time allows me to hit nearby creeks in search of smallies.....However, I am originally from up north, where I cut my teeth on farm ponds and Stockton Lake.....I teach and coach high school kids, am married, and have 2 young kids, a boy and a girl, ages 2 and 5. My five year old girl likes goggle-eye fishing the best....There, that was pretty painless!
  6. On highway 60, go west of Monett towards Granby. About 5 or 6 miles from Monett (that's a guess), you will see a sign for Jolly Mill Park on the south side of the road. You will turn south there and follow the signs to the mill, which is on Capps Creek. There also is another turn a few miles later, with a brown conservation sign that has something like "Capps Creek Conservation Area" on it.

    Redear

I lived the first 17 years of my life less than a half mile from Lamar Lake, and I do not remember ever catching a redear back then, just some big bluegill and crappie. Looks like I need to get back home and do some fishing this spring at Bushwacker and Lamar

Did you do any good at Capps the other day? I haven't been up there in over a year, would like to make it back there in the near future.
  9. About four or five years ago, went to Bushwacker lake (Barton/Vernon county) fishing for crappie and bass in the spring. What I found is a great population of large redears. Have not been able to get up there and fish it since then, but I have the memory of a fun couple of trips.
  10. Love to fish for smallies in Flat Creek, starting near Cassville all the way to Stone County.....the smallie holes, however, are getting few and far between with the low water......Used to be lots of 11-15 inch fish, with the chance at the occasional 17+.......I fish it as long as the ice stays out of my guides
