  1. Nice browns! Glad you had a good b-day outing.
  2. I really enjoyed these. Went on a portage trip up there some years ago and it was one of the best times of my life, aside from the mosquitoes. Nothing better than falling asleep to the sound of loons.
  3. I might not be clear on your meaning of options, but I have to disagree. A fly rod will enable you to put dries on top, drift nymphs on bottom and throw streamers or bait fish patterns.
  4. Never too late to join. Glad to have you on the forum!
  5. Glad to hear the fishing was on. Sounds like that morning storm was a blessing in disguise!
  6. Pinnacle Studio HD. Great software for editing and easy to use too!
  7. Indeed sir. It was cool to have two GoPros running. Def the way to go.
  8. Seems like Taneycomo water temps would be too cold for the northern water snake. It actually looks more like a corn snake.
  9. Sounds like some fine riverside dining and a great trip!
  10. Welcome Tom.
  11. Thank you. Glad you enjoy'd
  12. Sounds like a killer trip! Picking a centralized camp in order to fish a group a streams is definitely the way to do it. I fished the Bighorn in 2003 and have been aching to get back.
  13. I hit the river with a friend this past weekend after a much needed excursion. We camped at Montauk Thursday into Friday to assure a good dose of angling. A mixture of sun and clouds late Thursday made for good fishing but the real action was on Friday. Chilly 56 degree temps with light rain and solid overcast seemed to get the fish active and feeding. We fished nymphs all day as they were producing well but also saw some aggressive top water hits on what looked like tan caddis flies. I had intended to throw a streamer at some point but couldn't get off the nymphing action. Hope you enjoy the video!
  14. I was just down there this past weekend. The fish were active and would likely hit a streamer although I didn't try one. Also saw some top water hits but still stuck with long drifted nymphs.
  15. Quality fish. Awesome river. Doesn't get much better. I usually sniff out the browns there in the faster, more oxygenated holes close to the banks.
  16. Sounds like a productive morning! Thanks for posting.
  17. Thank you allfor the nice words! This videography thing has become just as addicting as fly fishing.
  18. Remember that the water is around 58 degrees and will really cool your core temp down. I'll usually fish the shaded areas after it heats up.
  19. A buddy and I hit T.V. this past weekend and did pretty well. The morning trico hatch was thick and as usual, the bows were just slurping them off the top. They would only take my trico when it barely breached the surface and to the point where I was unsure if I was still looking at it. I would frequently give my fly a short skate just to locate it before drifting into the zone. It was if the bows were in a trance, as they were not spooked by this or me catching them. They would continue to feed lazily in the same spot. The browns were also taking tricos but behaving much differently as they were more alert and requiring a longer drift. They would also hold in shallower, calmer water and hit a bit more aggressively. Later in the day I caught a real colorful brown trout at Baptist while nymphing. My buddy caught some nice rainbows including a suspected raptor's victim. Check out the video and pics! .
  20. Good to hear from you, remi and impressive blog too!
  21. Welcome! I think you'll be pleased with Missouri's array of game fisheries, including flatheads.
  22. Good to have ya, Rob.
  23. Have you noticed that many credible articles about the reason for decline of the Ozark Hellbender seem to be trying to divert our attention to reasons other than the introduction of trout. FWS is saying that their decline is due to increased siltation, water quality degradation, and increased impoundments. No mentioning of trout. Now the big reason is an infectious disease called "chytrid fungus" which is thought to be the reason for hellbenders missing appendages. The introduction of trout as the reason is rarely, if at all, mentioned in any article that I've read.
