  1. Roark Bluff boat ramp with no problem.
  2. Tough day on the water. Fished from 7 to 2 out of Roark. If someone would have told me that I wouldn't have caught a keeper this time of year I would have said they were crazy. Spent most of the day up in the river, 1 small keeper walleye and 14 non-keeper bass. Walleye came on the blade and most of the other dinks came on shakey heads or senkos. 52 to 55 water temps, wind (15 to 25) out of every direction at one point in the day, mid-day rain, cloudy until we gave up, but there were some AWESOME clouds. Tight Lines!
  3. Had I not already had plans to fish with another guy this morning I would have joined you in a heartbeat! See you up the river??
  4. Is that Roark?
  5. And any idea of how many boats? Thanks!
  6. Where are the CPA guys launching out of this weekend?
  7. Put in @ Mutton around noon, only fired up the big motor to back off the trailer. Shut down and got on the trolling motor and by the time we had run to the point we had 4 LM on a crankbait & jig, one which kept. Ran across the lake to a main lake point and caught another 5 or 6 on cranks & shakey heads. Ran to the back of one cove and had a number of small bass, including 2 at once on crankbaits. Ran to another cove about 3/4 of the way back and caught a number of them on shakey heads & cranks. About the time the wind & thunder & dark skies really picked up (5:00) the bite was ON! Ended up catching 20+ on spinnerbaits, it was one of those evenings where you could almost call your bite. Nothing bigger than 3 lbs, all LM's, but what an evening. Put the boat back on the trailer about 7:30. Wind 20 with gusts to 25, partly cloudy in the afternoon, dark skies by 5:00. Water temps were 56 @ launch and 63 in the far back of the coves. Didn't find any fish way back, mostly 1/2 to 3/4 of the way back. Tight Lines!

  9. Walcrabass, you have a P.M. from me. I'm headed up in a few hours and hope to find them again in the Mutton Creek area. Hope we don't get stormed off the lake!
  10. Sac River Jim is correct, it's Wart time!!!
  11. Water temps started at 46 and by 4:00 it was 51. Bluebird skies.
  12. Decided to fish the clear water today so I put in at State Park about 7:00. What a beautiful day on the water, very little boat traffic and a very light SE breeze. The catching for me was really good before noon, after that it was very spotty. Ended up with 18 bass, LM, Spots, and one nice Smallie. The first 12 fish netted me 9 keepers. Best 5 would have only gone 11 or 12 lbs. Every bass but 2 came on the crankbait, main lake points and the first channel swing bank inside the cut was what worked for me. The dogwood's are in bloom and all is right in the world! Tight Lines!
  13. Walcrabass & I are pretty close on our choices. It all comes down to personal choice and experience. I truly believe that floro allowed me to become a better fisherman.
  14. I can't tell you how many War Eagles I have broken in the same place, but it's quite a few. There have been a number of times I have watched a bass swim away with 1/2 of the spinnerbait still in it's lip while I still have the blade side attached to my line. I LOVE the W.E. spinnerbaits and use them all the time, however if I'm fishing a tourney I ALWAYS tie on a new one. That stainless steel can only bend and be reset to it's original shape so many times........................and more often then not I have a bass on the line when it snaps. I know I could prevent this from happening as much as it does if I wouldn't pull the bass out of the water by the bait and reach down and actually pick up the bass by it's lip.......but with all the fish I catch on the spinnerbait I would get really tired of bending over all day.
  15. Put in @ Roark about 9:00, ran up to Powerline cove and caught one on the 3rd cast, here we go! Spent about 90 min. in Powerline and ended up with 4 keepers and a total of 8 bass. Went on up to Greeser and had 4 more before the thunder started so we headed back to Roark only to find a number of boats waiting to haul out and the rain beginning to fall. We made a choice to run on down to the Mutton docks and wait out the rain. 3 hours later the rain & wind stopped, we had 6 nice keeper crappie & one white in the live-well and we were on our way back out to fish our way back to Roark. After the rain we caught another 9 bass with only 2 keepers. Just in the last 3 days the smaller males have moved to that bank. Water temps stayed at 55 all day, winds out of the SE @ 15 to 20 in the morning with cloudy skies most of the day. Crankbaits & shakey Heads were the ticket for us all day. Jim, sorry we didn't get to meet up in the river, I almost went up there to wait out the rain, man am I glad I didn't!! Tight Lines!
  16. Put in @ Mutton around 9:30 and fished till 3:30. It was supposed to be very windy, and it was when we arrived, but by 10:30 the lake had glassed over.....it was quite strange. The breeze did come back out of the west around 12:30 but what was supposed to be a very windy morning turned out quite nice! The fishing started out really good with 4 keepers by 11:30 including the 5.3#. Then the fishing got pretty slow the rest of the day for us. We stayed within sight of the Mutton Ramp and ended up with 5 keeper, 2 shorts, 1 white, and 1 small walleye. Most of the fish were caught on crankbaits with a few coming on a swimming grub and shaky heads. I also hooked one up by the Mutton docks that I don't know what it was or how big it was but it would have been nice to have seen it.......the one that got away. I don't believe it was a catfish because it didn't' spin but whatever it was took drag and was headed to deep water. I'm hoping it was a drum because I would hate to think I had a huge walleye or bass on. water temps 45 to 48, south winds to start 15 to 20, then glass, then west 10 to 15., cloudy most of the day. Headed back up Wednesday, tight lines!

  18. Sounds like Son's, once you get up into the trees, is a mess with dirty water. Let us know how the tourneys go. I'm going to try and head up on Sunday. Don't get snowed on tomorrow!
  19. Put in at Mutton about 9:00 and ran across the lake, couldn't get bit in Googer so ran out to a main lake point and caught a couple of bass on jerkbaits, moved on back into the pocket and picked up some whites swimming a small grub. Ran up Sons and caught a them on warts & spinnerbaits, also picked up some big whites that were hitting the spinnerbait. Water temp to start was 45, ended up finding 60 degree water on the shallow flats and sun drenched shallow pockets. Ended up with roughly 5 whites and 12 bass, best 5 bass would have gone only 10 Lbs. Sunny day, 65 degrees, light winds, got off the water about 5:30. Tight Lines!
  20. Launched at Roark about 1:30, water temp was 44. Spent time from the Twin Bridge area and up in Son's where the timber starts, however could not get bit up in the river. Couldn't get bit on Jigs or Shakey Heads or Jerkbaits. Tied on a brown crankbait and ended up catching 3 healthy keepers (15 to 16 inches) largemouth. My guess is they are just starting to get on this pattern but please note it took 4 hours of fishing to catch 3 fish. Water temps ranged from 44 to 49, blue skies, no wind. Talked with a few crappie guys at the ramp and they had not caught anything. Two more weeks of this weather and it should be "FISH -ON"!
  21. We fished the tourney on Sunday and had one very tough day, one bite was all. We even ended up coming home early we stunk-it-up so bad. Anybody have an idea what any of the weights were? Thanks in advance!
  22. Sac River Jim, yep that was us in Powerline, we went right around you while you caught that bass. We didn't catch anymore fish after we left you to your crappie.
  23. Also was up yesterday and I'm sure we saw a few of you. Put in at Mutton Creek, fished between M.C. and Powerline Cove. Couldn't get the crappie to bite, however we didn't' find shad balls either. Only caught 2, both on jerkbaits, one on a main lake point and one on a secondary point. Slow for us but it was a BEAUTIFUL day on the water. Tight Lines All!
  24. We also fished the tourney, only caught one dink. There were only 15 or so trailers at the ramp when we left @ 3:00, as of that time not one person had weighed fish yet. Would be interesting to know how many #s won it. VERY tough day!
  25. Thanks smbasser.
