  1. Does anybody know how early the gas station/ bait shop in Greenfield at H and 160 opens? I'm thinking about going early in the morning and if it is windy CC may be my only option.
  2. It is Josh. I usually stop there when I put in st High Point. I think all the minnows there already have emphazema, if you know what I mean. Jason
  3. I'm right there with you Justin. I wish I could go too, but I get to spend thursday afternoon at the dentist. Woohoo! Plus, i spent the whole day on the lake today so I doubt my wife would let me go anyway. Anxious to hear how it goes though.
  4. What a day!!! Started out going two places Before I ever found minnows. I think I would have been better off saving my money. By the time I got from thr gas station in Greenfield to the CC ramp 90% of them were dead. Fished bluffs/ steep rocky banks/ and channed timber and never caught one. Decided about 3:30 to bass fish the long bluff north of Springfield Cove....Good Idea! I bet I caught 50+ on plastic worms. Ended up with 4 good keepers. Would I have been more if my dang trolling motor didn't die on me. And for you walleye guys, I helped you out and kept the bass. Lol Jason
  5. BeagleMan, thats kind the area I was thinking about. That and the rocky bank right before thr cove with the docks. Straw, if I make it up there it'll be between 11 and 12 probably. Both, I'll be in a little 16 ft white Lowe with white motor. I'll stop and say hi if I see you Guys.
  6. I am lucky enough to only have to work 1/2 day tomorrow so I am gonna try to get up there to CC for a while and maybe find some crappie. Straw Hat, are you fishing up around there tomorrow? I'll keep my eye out for you if you are. Jason
  7. I'm assuming Hartley ramp, but I didn't realize there was a picnic area there so I don't know. Now, about the elected officials, lol. I doubt I would be able to make it Thursday as my wife works evenings and I'm not real sure about hauling a 4yr old and a 1yr old up there. I'd spend more time chasing them. I'll let you huys know if something changes and I can make it though. Jason
  8. Way to go Straw Hat, and to your wife too. Those are some nice fish. Especially the walleye. I'm starting to see what my problem has been...not using minnows. Sounds like they are producing more fish than jigs lately. I'm hoping to get up there Tuesday or Wednesday evening and try my luck again. Leave some for me Straw!
  9. Congrats Walleye Hunter and MissouriBreaks. Look like some pretty good birds. I haven't hunted out there in KS in several Years. Looks like I may have to start again
  10. Hey Gil I am Definitely going to have to catch you sometime when you are down here. I hear the fishing is pretty good right now, but as usual these guys are apparently catching them all before I get there.
  11. I think that would be awesome. The only problem I may have with scheduling is that my 4 year old is just starting his first year of Tball on saturdays in June and part of July. There's no way he will let me miss a game. Hopefully timing will work out to where I can still fish it though. Put me in as a potential "boater". Jason
  12. Part of me wishes that I would have let him walk, but as much hunting pressure and poaching as there is around me, I doubt I would have ever seen him as an adult anyway. My very first bird was a 2 year old with (5) beards. Most birds with multiple beards will grow them all from the start. Some may never grow more than an inch, but they may also grow just as much as the main beard.
  13. Personally I prefer bass fishing over crappie, but I'm good enough at catching quality fish to do much good. I think, for the most part, a crappie tourney would even then playing field for more of us.
  14. I had a heck of a time with the birds this year. I did manage to get 2 jakes(one had 3 beards). Had real issues with my gun and missed 2 big Gobblers before I got it fixed. Dang jakes made me work for em. Had to do a lot of belly crawling.
  15. Crappie would be good. My boat is up And running good, so it would definitely be available. It's just a 16ft with 40hp, but it gets me where I am going.
  16. I like that idea Justin. Maybe a little draw tourney to match members up. That or a cookout or something.
  17. I really gotta learn this walleye fishing stuff. I have absolutely terrible luck at it. You guys make it sound so easy. I think i need to go with domebody that can show me how to do it.
  18. That sounds like a good idea to me. I think it would be fun to meet some of the other members. Then I would know who to follow around when i am up there.
  19. I would assume they are talking about Price Branch? Which is just north of the State Park ramp area on the east side. I've never fished it, but have heard a lot about it.
  20. Nice trip Straw Hat. Looks like i fished the wrong areas at CC the other day. I threw jigs in the coves and only caught three small crappie. Hoping to get back up monday evening. Sounds like minnows may be the ticket?
  21. I am definitely one of the "most guys" that can't catch a walleye. I've only caught 2, one while bass fishing and one while crappie fishing. Maybe it's time to follow you guys around on the lake and see how to do it.
  22. I've used both types of lights, but the floating lights or a lantern seem to work better for me. Haven't been night fishing yet this year, so 'm kinda waiting on the good tips too.
  23. Fished the CC area for a couple hours before dark tonight and caught a ton of bass on a junebug colored plastic worm. Only a couple keepers, but the little ones were a lot of fun too. Just no big ones like I used to catch down at Cape Fair when I was little.
  24. Do you have any info on club dues or tournament entry fees? I would like to try to fish it depending on the cost.
  25. Just wanted to say good luck to all you Guys fishing this weekend. Unfortunately I won't get to do any. Our NWTF chapter is heading to Kentucky tonight to put on a big youth hunt out there. 16 of us are going and taking several of our local youth hunters. I sm the lucky one, I get to guide a young girl from Springfield out there that is a pro hunter for Bass Pro's Next Generation tv show.
