  1. i have Lew's tournament mg's tournament pros, bb1's bb1 pros and super duties also have 3 smokes and a energy pt. the energy pt is a good reel the smokes are ok but for same money the super duties are far better reels. in fact the cheaper tournament mg's out perform the quantums by far. I try to do all my business with Jim Loven and Sportsman Factory Outlet he has never steered my wrong and i have alot of money tied up in my equipment. all my rods are team lew's except for two razR rods one for A rigs and one jerk bait rod and i have a denali cranking rod i like real well too.
  2. thnx for a good report. people are making a mistake going to the bank during the day the bigger females are coming up the creek in waves and move to the bank to spawn just about dark. they been doing it for over a month now. hopefully it will last till mid may. i'm already marking crappie off main lake points suspended over piles and in the middle of the coves in up to 30 to 35fow.
  3. fished mid lake area again this evening and didnt put in the water till after 4:30. water temp 65 to 67 degrees visibility atleast 12'. fish came off a papi ray structure shaky and a zman fatty z in grn pumpkin and a new protype underspin swim jig head and a keitech squid scented swim bait. i will disclose the jig head next couple of days when papi decides what colors and sizes he wants to put into production. swim bait out fished the shaky 4 to 1 today and did the same on table rock last wednesday evening but the bite shuts down at dark.
  4. Caught several nice two and a half lb. chunks today then got to witness an absolutely beautiful sunset to end a perfect ay on the water!!!!!
  5. worst i seen today was a troller go between the bank and two guys fishing in the pocket on the north east side of y highway bridge. i think he was gonna do it to me because i was sitting in 30 fow on the next point but i let the boat drift in towards the bank so he had to go around me.
  6. it never fails to amaze me but then again we go thru this every spring but this year seems worse than years past for some reason. thnx for a good report i was bass fishing today and marked alot of crappie suspended in 15 to 30fow on the main lake points and in the middle of the coves around the googer/mutton creek area.
  7. i like that board thats a pretty fancy way to get a couple good pics i'm not a big pic taker i always get excited and forget hahaha!!!!
  8. it started going to haitis in a hand basket when the boat patrol was integrated into the highway patrol. i never see a boat patrolman on the lake anymore but seems like that pesky survey person drops by every weekend. you;d think he could remember that old ranger of mine
  9. never would have thought the sun/heat would do that to them i knew bout gluing up ahead of time i already made that mistake. thnx for the heads up.
  10. wednesday evening just before dark water temp from mutton to hawker was 60.3 degrees with visibility atleast 8 to 10' maybe up to 12'. I havent been up the creeks since my last fiasco on son's creek. there's no need because theres lots of fish to catch in the mid lake area back in the coves and pockets.
  11. i've loaded up om flicker shad too got over 50 of em with my favorite stockton color being the #7 purple tiger.
  12. great report!!! thnx for heads up on the jerk bait sometimes the jerker will pull a nice fish during the spawn when they are cruising shallow especially on long run outs.
  13. Straw i just stopped going up the rivers. i'm fishing from ruark to hawker and doing pretty well. i'd hate to see you quit fishing because of some inconsiderate people who only fish during the spawn.
  14. nice!!!
  15. yep thats one of them. i was in there last might bout am hour didnt fish for crappie tho. ck out the little pocket just down from the brush pile, theres some pretty good transition chunk to gravel to sand in that cove towards the back
  16. quality fish!!!!! have ya released them in the grease yet zarra
  17. shaky head been working good too. thnx for the report and that was a nice pig,
  18. thnx for a good report. i put in at mutton around 7 yesterday evening to test my boat. new prop problem is better but ive done bout all i can i'm afraid i'm bout ready to go to war with a place i bought it ftom. now he;s wanting to recupp a brand new 545 dollar turbo prop smh!!!!!! fished a slot for bout an hour and caught a couple dinks on a shakey. water temp mid lake 60 visibilty over 5' and nice green tint to water.
  19. what county is highpoint in. we've had alot of trouble with ramp thieves over in dade county the two worst places being Greenfield landing and Mutton Creek North. Never heard of wheels being stole but wouldn't surprise me the meth heads up here will steal anything they can get their hands on. They usually smash and grab whatever you have locked up in your truck. Dill got his window smashed at mutton north and they stole a gps and a good pair of binoculas last summer. sorry that happened but atleast you wasn't hurt and have insurance.
  20. dave we get ours from scotties have you tried them and if not i can get you their link
  21. id get some minnows/worms and go to the fishing pier at the ruark bluff east campground. nice place to park, bathroom right up the road theres a picnic table on the dock and some decent bluegill and crappie fishing off the end of it. the dock has rails around it too.
  22. i went into that cove to try and get away from the crowd and it wasnt too bad in there but we only caught some dinks and by that time i was so frustrated with an old couple in a ranger who kept cutting me off i wound my way back thru the timber and came home.
  23. i agree with waterpossum you don't have to go far to find some good spawning banks. you can go back around hawker (left) way towards the back and find some good banks or go back out to main lake and go to your right and find some really good pockets in the big cove that is just passed the last camping spot on the big rock point. just before you get to it theres a small rocky pocket and you will see the road runs right next to it and theres a guard rail there. theres two good brush piles in 20fow just around the point on main lake that i catch crappie year round on. they are about 100 yards down the bank from the point.
