Stockton is great if you get 2-3 coves away from the marinas.
  2. Thats a nice mess of fish there!!!
  3. Yeah I was thinking of the cans of expandable foam.I did some looking around in kc this morning before i came home and had a guy give me 4 of the crates i was looking for.
  4. Nice one!
  5. i was using the brown trot line but i put some of the 80lb snagging braid on some jugs that were short of line and it works fine .I have been saving the new 1.5 liter pepsi bottles. They look like they are about the same circumference of the powerade bottles but taller. If i can get 24 in my crate im gonna fill them with foam.Im gonna make a couple of different sets and paint them different colors for whoever is fishing with me.I got a extendable paint roller handle and a hook made from a paint roller to grab the jugs......If i want shad its faster for me to drive down to caplinger mills and throw my net at the corner of the dam. There is always some there. It takes to long to go look for them with the fish finder....I soaked some hotdogs in chicken liver blood once but i cant remember what i caught. My girlfriends dad swears that persimmons work so im gonna try that this year.I also want to try the chunks of ivory soap......Im still looking for some more coke crates. They work perfect for the jugs.
  6. my Powerade jugs have 20ft on them and if im in 15ft of water i will set them 10-12ft deep.i put some of the line in the jug and then put the cap on and it will lock it at that depth.I find a calm cove out of the wind and scatter 15-20 jugs right at daylight and then i go fish the banks or just troll around untill the jugs start bouncing. If theres not many boaters around i will scatter a bunch of them and let the wind blow them across the cove.I have better luck in 15-20ft of water. My jugs tend to get caught up in shallow water and im in a pontoon.I have never fished the Aldrich side of the lake.I am usually on the west side from 215 to the dam.
  7. im on stockton lake and i use bait shrimp.I catch more cats and less turtles on shrimp.I dont like going and looking for the shad so Its just alot easier for me to use shrimp.Use live perch, bluegill for flatheads.I need bigger jugs for flatheads. Here is one of the nicer ones i caught yesterday on shrimp.
  8. i checked again after i first posted and another weather channel said 35 degrees and frost.I rounded up all my 5 gallon buckets and empty flower pots, ice cream buckets,3 cold packer pots, and even my lantern cases and got everything covered.Knowing my luck i will get some of the famous stockton winds and everything will be blown into one corner of the garden.
  9. Its supposed to get down to 38 tonight here in Stockton and wondering if i should cover my tomatoes or not
  10. when i first started using sonnys in 97 the only place i could find it was Kmart.
  11. Hit a spot here in stockton that i found last year and found at least 4 pounds.I probably left 50 that were in the sun and burnt up.I stopped on the side of the road to use my phone and a man and woman stopped and asked if i was having car problems and if i needed any help.I gave them 15-20 good sized morels and when i got home my bag weighed 3 pounds.I have 6 pounds to dehydrate now.
  12. i hit my spots in Rich Hill and Lamar today and found right at 3 pounds.I probably gave another pound away.I was getting ready to get on the highway and i drove real slow and spotted 3 from the car. That happened twice today.
  13. Found 25 today in some woods that were burned off.I replied to this post earlier but it disappeared. All posts from 10:31am to 3:21pm are not showing up.
  14. After my post this morning I went and looked at the couple of spots i have in this area and there was none up yet.Ended up walking the fields for arrowheads then went to the river and fished.
  15. Just walk and walk and keep looking.I dont limit myself to any certain type of trees.I dont find them under big groups of cedar trees but if there is just a couple of cedars in an area i will for sure look around them.I had 1 cedar tree i always found 10-20 small ones every year and i went and checked it one year and found 1 huge one instead(my pic/avatar) . The next year the power company cleared that tree line so that spot is gone now. My buddy has a big cedar tree and he finds a bunch under it every year. This was a small lunchbox cooler full he found one year under that cedar. . One year he waited for them to get bigger but they didnt grow any bigger. All the bigger yellow-red ones grew further down in the woods. I was picking some once on the edge of the woods and decided to walk across a field to the next tree line, and there was a 20ft by 20ft area in the middle of the field that had hundreds of little trees about the size of my thumb and 6ft tall and the morels were scattered in between them.I never found any in the field or around the trees, just under them.I think when the spores got blown across the field that little group of trees caught them and they fell to the ground.I think the same applys to a lone cedar tree.It catches all the spores when they blow through. When im walking the woods along a creek i look for a big white sycamore tree.Ive had better luck starting in that area just because when i find morels there is usually a sycamore pretty close and i can spot that kind of tree from a long way off. I used to dig in an old dump from the 1800's-1940 for stoneware and old bottles, and i decided to go one more time before the snakes got real thick and when i walked into the area all i saw was mushrooms. There was literally thousands of them growing through the woods growing up through all the broken glass, metal, dirt. They were all the big yellow ones and couldnt eat any of them cause they all had little pieces of glass in them, not even going to mention all the toxic stuff that was in that dump. I found some once in a treeline along some railroad tracks and found some growing in the rocks next to the tracks. Most of my spots came from driving all the back gravel roads real slow and scouring the edge of the tree lines. When i spot one ill park the car and pick what i can by the road and then try to get permission from the land owners to walk their property. Once they are pretty big you can spot them, and then next year go back to all the spots you found and then find the small blacks-greys.
  16. i hit one of my spots in Lamar yesterday and didnt find any.Went to my next spot and there was alot of people in the area so i didnt stop.Went to my third spot and it was gone.It was graded over this winter with a snowplow and it is covered with gravel now.I said heck with it and came home. This rain and cooler temps is gonna help.It was hot and dry here the last couple of days.
  17. If you dont eat them then why are you shooting them?I can understand shooting asian carp but why shoot regular carp if your not eating them?
  18. Thats nice..Im gonna get me a bed ready for the summer..When it rains really hard the church parking lot is covered with nightcrawlers. If i get there before they get baked i would have enough for all year.
  19. Find a fitting and a hose that will plug into the livewell water inlet.Plug it in,put the hose in the bag,and turn the livewell on and fill the bag.
  20. i walked 3/4 of a mile to my spot and didnt find nothing.Got to help my girlfriends dad move saturday in joplin so im gonna hit all my spots in the lamar area when i head back home.
  21. you need at least a 50hp motor and 65lb braid and it will come right out
  22. I saw a bunch of them two weeks ago around Orleans Trail area. Those things were huge.
  23. I just got the new decals in the mail from Phil and i dropped them off at Bongo's just west of the square in Stockton.
  24. Thats good to know strawhat.Winter is about over cause we can get minnows just about everywhere again...The gas station at 32 and J hwy has a couple tanks, and Bongos has a new minnow tank out front,Orleans trail marina has minnows now,I dont know if the Boathouse has them or not...Its like winter dragged on and on when i couldnt find minnows in town.Water needs to warm up some more cause i havent caught anything on the brushpiles at the marina.
  25. i found a spot here in Stockton that had one morel but there was like a thousand little holes through the woods where the deer had got them.I should probably go out there and start peeing on all of the trees or spray something to keep the deer out.
