  1. Dragging worms or jigs works about the best. I always have a square bill tied on as well. This lake is a little shallow on my opinion for the rig. Spring is almost here and top water frogs are by far the best from my experience...when they start bedding up I just troll long and when I are a bed I will throw a plastic lizard at them. They usually can't resist moving it off the bed
  2. I was down there on Saturday, we started in beaver a caught a couple, then ran up toward barker and caught one there, we went back to beaver and as soon as the water hit 57 it seemed like they got hungry we ended up with 25 most caught on white vibric rooster tails and some on firecracker swimming minnows with a blue roadrunner head. Seemed like we would catch 5 or 6 then move up 50 or 100 yards and 5 or 6 and so on. saw lots of people on the bank with full stringers. We got off the water at around 5:30 the wind also picked up real hard at about 3 and thats when we caught the most.
  3. i was down there this last weekend, looks like it has looked all winter. Nothing has started to grow yet, should be soon though
  4. Yeah right
  5. Please post the type of tournaments in the event section of this forum, i would love to participate in some i just never know where to find out about them. please and thanks, looks like a good time!!!
  6. Makes since, thanks,I always kinda wondered about your tourneys if they had to be alive since trout can be a little hard to keep lively. And the boat I use at Taney doesn't have a live well so it is virtually impossible to keep them alive in a basket when your going from spot to spot
  7. So what do people do in the trout tourneys if they can't cull. Cuz usually catching the trout isn't the problem it's just weeding through all the stockers to get the ones ya want
  8. If some stripes come from beaver and make it to BS why I have we never caught them in Table Rock
  9. Water is pretty Dingy color. I just took out everyone down there is chasing crappie, we only caught 1 didn't see a whole lot of action in other boats either. Highest water temp I saw was 48.8
  10. It really hasnt been a huge advantage this year, a good ole fashioned jerk bait is catching just as many fish this year in my opinion. Last year was a different story. And if everyone in the tourney can use it i dont see why it should be banned.
  11. Does anyone ever tip their jigs with crappie nibbles or is it just a trick to make us spend more money
  12. im sure everyone has their favorite just wondering what people have been most successful with. I have never had a ton of luck besides losing them. Luckily I dove bull shoals a lot and managed to find quite a few and it saved me a few bucks. Another question does anyone run them weedless?
  13. sounds more like Crappie tunnel
  14. I usually go down there a couple times a week and a rarely do not see one, They tend to be more in the big open part of the lake, but i have seen them up in the river also. There are tons of duck, geese all kinds of fowl there right now. regardless if you see an eagle there is plenty to watch.
  15. Well we threw the new boat in at Cape for its maiden voyage, took out towards Bridgeport. Dipped about every piece of brush we could find with jigs and picked up 1 keeper Crappie. Decided to pick up the ole caster with a Jerk bait (RC-STX pro blue) caught one bucket mouth tried jigs, warts and A-rig and nothing really cooperated. Saw lots of Eagles, still a great day on the water with the ole man for the middle of Jan. Hope someone else did better then us. the new boat did well, not sure how to use the fancy fish finders yet. Any advice for a Hummingbird 788 HD DI would be much appreciated, any certain settings or any tricks? I just couldnt seem to put my rod down to take time to play with it.
  16. Well hopefully i will have a good report tomorrow....65 in the middle of January...ill take it, the hell with work!!!!!!
  17. I would love for someone to confirm this, Im going to be there tomorrow anyways
  18. im guessing under the ice somewhere, it doesnt look to boat friendly down there right now!
  19. www.Wlure.com has basic umbrella rigs for 2.99, hard to beat that price. i ordered a few, they seem just as strong as any you can buy at a tackle shop. Downside is they come from china and it took almost a month to get here.
  20. wow, were you just throwing jigs around brush, river arm, or lake....thats and impressive catch
  21. Last spring i was down there and caught a huge bag of crappie. biggest i had ever seen 16+ and some 15's and 14's. Since then i have only managed to catch a few here and there. they weren't very fat just real long and skinny. Let us know how you do!
  22. Headed up to lake lake and was in the search of crappie, no luck on that, couldnt hold the little aluminum boat still in the wind, after cussing and about giving up my old man throws on a rooster tail and was dragging it behind the boat, i was headed out of the wind in a little cove off the main lake with some stick ups. And he catches a nice white, so we worked the whole cove over and both got a limit in about an hour. the ole trusty vibric roostertail haha. Guess i learned to never get to frustrated with the wind
  23. Just wondering if there is any kind of bite ill be on the Osage arm around Coffman bend. Hopefully something will be hungry
  24. Yeah I've talked to someone that said they used to have a winter bass series
  25. Does anybody know if there are any bass tournaments going on this winter on Taney?
