  1. They were not spawned out. Still small eggs. Still think the best is yet to come. I think that front just pushed them out for a bit. Talked with several other fisherman all with same luck on crappie this morning....,little to none. Bet the afternoon was better.
  2. Went out chasing crappie. Did great Saturday, but today was tough. Hit all the banks we caught fish on last weekend with no luck. Water started out 57 around cedar ridge. Found 63 up in birch branch. Did catch a couple off brush in 20 fow and a couple more off a pile we stumbled upon in 35 fow. Amazing how much a strong front can knock crappie on the noggin.
  3. Any time a warden suspects a game violation they have authority to investigate. No warrant needed.
  4. Definitely slowing down. A lot of "limits" have come out of flat the last few weeks.
  5. SRJ, what depth did you find the most success? Headed up tonight for night fishing and might target the coves like you suggest while waiting for dark. Thanks.
  6. Great feedback all star. I remember the one time I went sleeping in the next day! Sounds like creek channels a key.
  7. I bought a 4 ft green florescent light. Will give it a go. Sounds like 20ish water. Transitions like bluff ends or structure like timber.
  8. Every year I hear about fishing at night under the lights. Going to give it a try. What sort of features should a person look for when setting up? What depths should be targeted? I'll be using minnows. Thanks.
  9. I think the labeling your rods thing is somehow linked to the same reason you have to label jug lines. Best bet would be to just label them and troll on!!
  10. I've talked with 3 game wardens about this. All have told me you are fine to troll more than 3 rods, just label them. The problem they mostly deal with is the 10 guys on the shore all with poles "just watching them" for the one guy with the license. As for the 3 hooks thing above, that makes crank baits illegal to drag. Dont think that's quite right. There's more to it than that. Just my .02
  11. My two cents, safety isn't worth a deal. Also, if someone else gets hurt in or because of your boat, and you weren't honest with insurance company you could be in a real pickle. And even worse, someone could get hurt.
  12. Yes, tons of boats with snaggers n anglers. Seemed like fish just tucked low once all the boats started running around in there.
  13. I was there yesterday. Counted at least 30 boats between 8am and noon. If it's like that during the week, imagine the weekend. trolled, casted, and vertical jigged minnows. Caught a few fish .....mixed bag of whites n crappie. Water temps 48. It was tough to troll with all the boats. no limits but enough for dinner.
  14. Right now I am using bass pro floro that I bought on clearance. Seems to work fine but have only used it vertical jigging. I have had good luck with p-line on my spinners. Just trying the floro because the price was right! She was low and should warm quick with a good warm rain or two. That sun will warm that mud up quick!
  15. Mine today were 20-22 feet, but lake is super low, so normally 26-28 foot locations and still in winter pattern. 38 degree water on main lake. It will be soon, but it's still cold water!!!! Broke thin ice at cedar ridge w I put in this am.
  16. Minnow, that was me pointing out those rocks. I had the same experience on the crappie, 20-22, plus the bonus 19in walleye. Definitely still a winter patten. Water 38-39 all day long with thin ice when we first put in at 8am. I'd love to learn why lake was so low. 5-6 foot low easy. I crossed two boats, one guy said spring draw down, one said ,muscles. Think the muscle one was confused w pomme. Best jig monkey milk. Had a valuable line lesson. Vertical jigged two rods Same depth, same jig, different line. One had floro, one had hi vis crappie line. Hi vis was 4 lb, floro was 6. Floro rod caught 95% of my fish over hi vis. Lesson- slow vertical presentation, line matters. I now believe in clear waters like winter stockton those fish can see the line just like trout!!
  17. From what I have read on this site each lake gets one "bonus" species that they stock. Clearly Taney is trout, table rock spoonbill, stockton walleye, and pomme Muskie. That said, I'd love to see those tastey critters in Taney!!
  18. Thanks. Forgot masters tournament next weekend. Should be fine. Thanks everyone.
  19. With this cold curious for a lake surface update. Thanks first responders.
  20. Take binoculars. Not allowed on tournament boats but great for the rest of us.
  21. I figured she would be frozen solid. I take it there is open water on the main channel?
  22. My buddy capndan taught me to run two lighter heads and three heavier heads. The lighter two will run on top. Bend those top two lighter heads hooks into the body. Fish will usually hit the bottom swimmers. Game warden did creel check on me last year and said my set up was acceptable.
  23. Another year wiser! Happy birthday.
  24. Slab buster out of lake ozark makes a nice electric chicken. Wonderful color combo if you need to be seen!!! Pink and chartreuse both colors that crappie like, so put em together!!
  25. I bit hook line and sinker, but it wasn't all bad. Had planned trip to stockton because winter crappie bite is going well. Learned some new water as I've never fished bull before. Did pick up a short eye at 17.5 in the first hours of the am. Decided to pick it up late am and headed above the dam for a limit of trout then jumped one more dam to chase some deep bass. Completed a white river trifecta and enjoyed beautiful weather and good fellowship. I would have to agree with quill on posting fake reports. Lesson learned on my end. Go with what you know.
