  1. Three of us ended up with our limit of whites, a channel cat, and a walleye. Caught fish in the slack water as well as in the current. Best spot seemed to be 3 or 4 holes above Taylor (probably almost exactly half way between 215 and Taylor) Caught all of our fish on purple swimming minnows on an eighth or a sixteenth ounce head
  2. Headed to the Little Sac in the morning. Are the whites still around? I was there Monday the 27th and caught alot but havent been back since then. Will report after we get back.
  3. Well the fish are definitely still there although not sure for how much longer. Still haven't found hardly any females this year which is really strange.
  4. On the west side there was 10-15 people fishing below the spillway (only one person besides us fishing above the spillway on the west side, surprisingly) and then another 15-20 people scattered down the east bank. So by truman standards it wasn't crowded at all. I'm assuming the front moving in along with the rain deterred several of the crappie fisherman from trying it. Also didn't see any hybrids being caught with the whites.
  5. A buddy and I went Thursday as well, we found fish everywhere from 215 to Taylor. You have any luck trythisone? Going back tonight, anybody still catching them over the weekend?
  6. Headed to the dam for the first time this year Friday morning. Started off fishing on the west side, they started running water right after sunrise and the white bass cooperated pretty well after that. We were standing by the fence (as close to the dam as you can get) casting down the bank towards the flat spot. The way that bank is shaped it was making a current break and that is where the whites were coming from. Action seemed to start slowing there so we moved down to the spillway on the west side and picked up our last couple of whites. We finished out the morning on the east side trying to add a few crappie but we just found more whites. I did catch my best truman dam crappie right before we left (13 incher). Buddy and I ended up with 2 limits of whites and 8 crappie, got them cleaned in the parking lot and started the long drive back to springfield.
  7. Got my dad over there with me for the first time this year saturday evening. We put the canoe in at 215 and floated down to Taylor. Didn't start catching til we got to the railroad bridge but after that we picked up fish everywhere. We both had our limit within a couple of hours. I would say our fish were 60/40 male/female. I even picked up a nice bonus crappie and he caught his first ever little sac walleye (only took him 7 years of fishing it). Great day on the water with great company!
  8. Started fishing about 5:15 last night, right at 6:15 I hooked up with white number 15. Caught them all from the same pocket of slack water. Proceeded to see if I could pick up a walleye at 215 bridge, no luck. Still not many females in the fish I'm cleaning, just two from last nights bunch.
  9. We floated from 215 to Taylor
  10. Took the girlfriend to the river with me Easter morning. Had a really good trip, both ended up catching our limit of whites and she started the morning with two walleye ( I of course didn't catch any walleye) The whites were caught pretty much anywhere there was a current break. Out of the 30 I cleaned only 4 were females. All in all a great trip! Gonna try it again this afternoon after work with a buddy.
  11. Last year was pretty tough on most people that I talked to. It took me awhile to find them in the river last year but once I did I was able to catch several.
  12. I was at Taylor on Monday this week and had 10 keepers and 15-20 of the little males but I haven't had a chance to get back over there. Gonna give it a try in the morning before I watch some basketball.
  13. Just fishing from the bank
  14. Aldrich area
  15. Got to the lake about 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Immediately caught a white bass on the first cast! After ten casts I had put 3 on the stringer and threw back one short. Then it really slowed down, I had just put 2 more on the stringer and threw back 3 or 4 shorts until 6:15 or so. From then until dark it was on! Ended with my limit plus a few more, never did catch any crappie or walleye. Caught all fish on a purple swimming minnow fishing REALLY slow in about 7 feet of water. You could just barely feel them pick up the jig when they hit. Keep this warm weather coming!
  16. As cold as its been for the last couple of weeks it probably won't be til the later part of March but that isn't going to keep me from getting out and trying it as soon as we can string together a couple of nice days
  17. I dont specifically target walleye but I catch some while I white bass fish the little sac. The hole right below Taylor with the big rocks is where I've caught multiple walleye so I think that would be a pretty good place and its easy to walk to from Taylor. If we get enough rain then I like to fish under the 215 bridge and that is where I've caught several walleye. That's the only place I have ever successfully caught my limit of walleye.
  18. I usually can't wait any longer than the end of February/beginning of March before I HAVE to start giving it a shot.
  19. Haven't been that direction since last fall but hopefully this warm weather keeps up. I'll be ready to start trying for some whites and walleye in about a month or so now.
  20. The one at Pomme shut down because of new owners turning it into a restaurant. The heated dock part was actually turned into a dance floor for the weekends at the restaurant.
  21. The one at Pomme is no longer open either. I know because I used to fish it quite a bit in the spring and overnights in the summer
  22. Just got back from the river... Got to fish for a couple hours in the rain tonight and didn't do too bad actually. I had 13 keepers and my buddy had 7 (threw back prolly 15-20 little bitty males) If the water hadn't of come up a foot and a half in about 20 minutes I probably could have finished my limit before dark. But all in all not too bad of a fishing trip.
  23. From my observations over there this year, it was a very strange year. Finally about the 10th or so of April I starting catching my limit everytime I went but I HAD to go above Taylor. I saw a few fish on stringers there at the bridge but each time I went above the bridge and seemed to do pretty well. I even had a limit as recently as last Monday the 5th but I haven't been back since then. I have a buddy that I don't see very often anymore that is in town for a few days so we are going to try and brave the rain this afternoon and see if we can catch a few. I'll be sure and report if we end up going.
  24. Decided to try and brave the rain yesterday, glad I did. Couldn't keep the whites off my hook, had my limit in less than an hour.
