Table Rock Lake Current Fishing Report July 31St. 2012
Jeff Olson replied to Bill Babler's topic in Table Rock Lake
thanks for the report Bill! Its great to see any report with walleye info! as I am new to the area and am learning table rock.I live by the state park marina so I fish the dam area. with all the reports I have read on O-A it sounds like I need to concentrate on learning the kings and james river arms areas, as where that seems to be where the better #s of walleye are. thanks again! -

thanks for the report mike! mike or anyone else, just courious about using b-bouncers as I am only familiar using them on bottom, but when you have fish suspended at 20ft in 30ft of water as in your report, are you trying to run your bb at that 20ft depth? thanks. -
thanks for the report powerdive! and yes, a very nice fish! and it is great to see a big spawner released!

Hi guys,I am not to familiar with flourocarbon line.I see it is a must down here.Im from WI. Im mainly using it for walleye fishing.as a leader on my braided line and a 30 ft leader on my lead core set up.I have been using the stren flourocarbon and liked it but now trilene bought them out and they pulled it all off the market! whats your opinion on some good strong flourocarbon line!( I like the 10 lb size maybe 12 ) any opinions on size? thanks!!

hey Jason, sounds like my last trip out last week.I did catch quite a few bass trolling cranks in 26 to 30 ft. and only bluegill on the crawler rigs! and I only managed 3 short eyes on cranks. I have alot of learning to do on this lake though! good luck next time!

I am not very familiar with the large stripers in this area, when they are being found dead, are they dying of natural causes? thanks.

I totally agree guys! something needs to change. new rules and good public awareness of them! I just dont get it how someone may not even be aware of what they are doing, most of it is just having good COMMON COURTESY !!!

Was on the water at 5 am and off at 3. pretty slow day! caught 3 eyes, a 14,18 &22. all on crawlers. only fish I caught on cranks were 2 bluegill & 2 bass, and lost 2 others that felt like crappies. talked to 2 other guys, one had 1 eye and the other had 2 small crappies.( fish were caught in 26 to 30 ft.)

Hi guys, just got back in hollister after 3 weeks of fixing a roof up in Wisconsin,so I have not been out on Bull Shoals since june 5th.will be putting in at k dock tomorrow morning and wondering if the eyes are in any type of summer pattern ( just moved here in jan, so this is my first summer fishing here ) I will be trolling cranks and crawlers.what depths have they been at and is it good to try shallower up on some sand flats the first few hours in the morning? and a certain speed been good? any info would be great! THANKS! ( and powerdive, thanks for the lead core info, I have 2 set-ups now,and ready to try em out tomorrow!)

Jeff Olson replied to Mike Worley's topic in Lower Bull Shoals

thanks for the posts and info guys! I was not aware of this at all.Im new to the area.I never keep bass to eat,but I have been taking our friends 10 yr old boy fishing lately and he has caught some undersize bass, so he has really wanted to catch a legal bass so he could keep it to show his mom, well I took him out on table rock today and he caught a 15 in white and a 17 in lrg mouth that we had to keep!we took pictures and I cleaned them up for them to eat.so the timeing on this article is a blessing,I will tell his mother and also explain this to him. ( a good reason not to keep any bass anymore) I assume and hope that crappie , bluegill and walleye are ok to eat out of t rock ?

thanks Bry for the info! I have them lures, never have used them much seeing I usually only fished water 20 ft and less, but alot deeper water down here than in WI. I will have to start useing them.had a pretty slow day on bull shoals saturday with only 3 short eyes, but I did not try deep! ( anyone out on bull shoals saturday that did good? or was it just a slow day)

thanks wayne,I have put in there once, but did not know that is what it is called, I will have to give it a try again.it was early spring before, and did not have much time that day. and thanks again feathers and fins!

Hey guys, anyone who may be interested, we have been talking a little about leeches lately, and how they are not available around here,Well I was at walmart on the strip (76) this morning,in Branson,mo. and they now have leeches! there in the little fridge with the worms and crawlers.$3.25 for a 18-24 count. back in WI, I use lrg ones for walleye, and sm ones for bluegills. and at times the bass and crappies really like them. so hopefully they will sell enough of them to keep them instock! they keep the best if you can limit their movement, like a leech tamer mesh bag,and keep their water cool.I make sm blocks of ice in our freezer using plastic cups and add to their water while in the boat.

thanks guys, Bry, I assume you are using lead core also to be hitting bottom at them depths. I have never fished with lead core but I am going to get set up with it in a couple weeks. Im going to be in rogers,mn. visiting the inlaws and there is a Cabelas there! Im going to start researching what to get, but any tips and suggestions on getting set up with lead core would be great!
-
thanks Powerdive! yes them gar can be a pain! also courious if you have noticed a difference if you troll downstream compared to upstream? seems like normally there is very little flow on bull shoals , but I have usually trolled upstream .
-
thanks for the posts guys! thats great info. when you troll that 18 to 30 ft range , what depths are your cranks running at ,or are you weighting them or useing lead core to fish the bottom or targetting suspended fish? (powerdive im from eau claire, how about you ) also what speeds do you find works best for cranks, and what speed for bottom bouncers & crawlers. thanks.

Hi guys,Im new to the area, from WI and am just starting to learn the upper area of bull shoals.I was out tuesday from 6 am to 3 pm. way to nice out, calm and clear and hot! but I did catch 11 walleye but they were all shorts 10 to 17 in. Im curious from your experience if this means I was to shallow, to deep to fast or slow or just one of those days. I was trolling crawler harnesses and cranks mainly in the 17 to 20 ft range but ranged some in 13 up to 30 .so just wondering if catching all smalls means anything or not? thanks for any info! and also is the upper area good in the summer or is the lower part better? I like the upper because its only 25 min from where we live in hollister by T R dam ,
