The Famous Winkedoodles put a short clip of me and my P-40 Warhawk kayak at 2:04 in the video, I have a ton of respect for Don. His skill as a fisherman and he also pratices catch and release. For me his small gesture was a true honnor. Also my latest fish 4:45 am at my new honey hole. Just under 22 inches

Well after a few weeks off the lake, the hunt for the dreaded Dr. Evil continues. I have a new line up of lures to try. I hope to get that picture I have been waiting for all year. Good luck to everyone this weekend.

I bass fish at Springfield lake and do very well. If you have a kayak, canoe or small boat, I can show you a few spots that really produce some good numbers. The bank fishing spots a pretty much a waste of time.

Help A Family If You Can
John Andrews replied to Chief Grey Bear's topic in General Angling Discussion
Nothing hacks me off more than a theif. I work HARD for the things I have. Several times I have had to start over with nothing. I made myself a promise ( last week infact ) at 51 years of age I will defend whats mine with what ever force is needed to prevent anyone stealing what I have worked so hard for. Some would rather turn the other cheek, I am not one of them. I hope these people are lucky and get their belongings back. It's a sad world we live in these days. -

ANOTHER PERSON WHO REALLY "GETS IT" I carry thats plain fact. My weapons ONLY purpose is to either A. prevent someone else from using theirs on me or B. to stop some some nut on a shooting spree from shooting myself or other un-armed people. Someone breaks into my home, my weapon will come into play. The intruder will have the choice to exit my home. Weather it's dead or alive is up to them.

Friday 7-26-13 Springfield Lake
John Andrews replied to Kee sims's topic in Fellows Lake, Springfield Lake, McDaniels Lake
I am on the lake every fri, sat and sun. I catch between 5 to 11 everytime out. I get a quick pic and let them swim away. One of my favorite times is hitting the water before sunrise. I listen to the sounds of nature around me while enjoying a cup of coffee. Sunrise on the water is amazing. Life is good on the water. On another note, one day as I was paddling towards the lake end from 65. I had my head lamp on to look for things in my way. I was about 10 foot from the bank and turned my head towards the bank. I was startled by two green, glowing eyes, about 5 feet off the ground. It was a large deer standing near the bank LOL. kinda took me by surprise. On thing that will get your heart thumping for sure???? be floating along in the dark and have one of them dang beavers splash right next to you. I'm talking about splashing you with water close. Little bugger must of cam up for air next to me. -
I havent chimed in much on this topic. But after reading 14 pages of what-ifs, debates, finger pointing , etc. I finally came up with the answer,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Now, roll that beautiful bean footage. Everyone be careful out there, the banks are full of crazies.

"one Upper" Fishing Buddies
John Andrews replied to Bird Watcher's topic in General Angling Discussion
I fish for ME. It dont matter if my buddy out does me. I have my own way of fishing. On top water baits, I dont get out done often. My style of how I use a lure might be odd to some, but I can really haul them in. My texas rig worm style is different from any other person I have watched. But it gets fish in the boat, Bottom line is, let those one uppers talk all they want. If you are fishin for YOU, what does it matter what they are sayin -
My idea for Dr. Evil was to get get some quick pics, length and weight and have a replica done. When it comes down to it, I dont think I could kill 'em just for a wall hanging. I release all my bass, in hopes of meeting them again. There are so many people out there keeping 'em these days, I wonder how the population can ever thrive.

DR. Evil ( I assume ) made another visit today. I was out at 4:30 am. after a few hours, I was about 50 yards from where I had him hooked. WHAM the water exploded. He hit the lure so hard, he cleared the water by a foot. Stayed there for another 30 minutes. I couldnt get him to hit again. SOMEDAY

Look folks I did what I did. The post wasnt intended to brag about losing my temper. I just used this media to vent about it. If anything else, if one person reads this and picks up a few thing laying around, It's worth reading the few comments from those that think I am some kind of a _________ ( insert foul word of your choice ) Bottom line is I will always continue to be a good steward of the outdoors and help those I can. When another one of those " situations " arises I will speak my mind about it. I do hope from a more positive position. In the end, my wife, family and friends are the only people whos opinion of me really matters. Again thanks for the input here, both pro. and con.

tell me about it. I managed to kill my mobile phone and just got a new smart phone. Feel like I have 10 thumbs when I use it.

Well Old Plug as a rule I dont just fly off the handle. Givin the fact that that day started like crap and got worse all day long, it just happened to set me off. You feel the need to be judgemental thats fine. I dont "have something against old people" Hell I am old people compared to some. I do however have something against being accused of something I didnt do. As far as common sense, I have plenty, more so than most people I encounter. But like everyone else ( who is truthful with themselves ) there are times temper can overcome " common sense " As far as "why he felt that way" I didnt care then, To be truthful, I dont care now either. The OLD man down the street from me, thats on a fixed income might feel different, I repair his mower and his car and not charge him a dime for the effort. The elderly woman, who I spent almost to days cleaning up after the ice storm at no charge, might not agree with you either. This list goes on but I feel I made my point. I infact respect everyone that I feel is worth respecting. Young or old.

I know I am not going to make a dent in the litter, but I can look at myself in the mirror knowing I am trying

Smallie, thank you for the extra effort. Something we dont see enough of these days.

Oh and by the way. when I got done screaming at the old coot. I turned around to see about 5-7 people standing there staring at me. I'd been embarrased if I cared what they thought. LOL

I am a transplant here from Washington state. Some of the most beautiful outdoors on the planet. My dad taught us boys to respect the land. When I go camping I pick up after myself. I pick up litter every time I am outdoors. The rivers here are no exception. EVERY time I leave the water, I end up at the garbage can. I pack a plastic bag every time, just for that reason. I do know this as FACT. In the two years I been kayaking our rivers, not ONE time have I ever seen another kayaker, boater or floater pick up so much as a bottle cap that was not their own.............Now why did I just say that????? I was at the gas station with my kayak on the roof and over heard the OLD man next to me say " another one of those S.O.B's that go around trashing our rivers....... Well I had a BAD day and he managed to push my "hacked off" button. The ONLY thing that saved me from jail time was the fact he was so OLD. I do know this, after I got done giving him a verbal butt whooping, he probably had to change underwear. If you go the extra mile and pick up others trash I THANK YOU. If you DONT,,,,,I dont understand it. It's not that hard to do, and it only takes a secong to reach down, pick it up and drop it in a bag...........Thanks for allowing me to vent

Fatal Shooting On The Meremac Near Steelville
John Andrews replied to NoLuck's topic in General Angling Discussion
Yes Sir, I am 51 years old, I remember my dad worked, mom was the typical housewife. On his salary, we had plenty. Now my wife and I both work, and sometimes struggle to survive. A perfect example,,,, I had to sell my motorcycle for us to survive on while she recovered from a major operation. Not sure at my age if I'll ever save enough to replace it. For an old biker that was a sad day. Seeing my brothers out there riding is rather depressing. Our way of life these days is a far cry from what we once were as a country. I hope for my kids and grand-daughters sake, this country can make a come back. Heck if I didnt have fishing, I probably be in a mental ward. -

Just a question for you seasoned floaters here. Is there a "law" the states where the river ends and the personal property begins? Back home it was the the bank was public use property as long as it was void of plantlife ( grass, weeds, bushes, etc ) Gravel, dirt, rock, sand banks were public use areas. If I remember correctly, there was also a portage right around debris. If a tree was across the river, you were alowed onto private property. I believe the limit was up to 6 feet from the waters edge. Now this was some 20 years ago, back in Wa. State. Seems a few clear cut laws here would be in order. But there again people break laws every day. STAY SAFE EVERYONE
