  1. Caught 7 bass on a top water spook jr in the last 1.5 hrs before close including a 4 lber and 2 other keepers. The bait fish were being chased by something; I could see them jumping out of the water. I threw the spook around these areas and it seemed to work for me. For the previous 2 hours I fished didn't get a bite on anything I was throwing. Threw all the fish back, a good philosophy for this lake. It seems there is a shortage of fish.
  2. I just learned something watching YouTube When tying a palomar for the DS and the hook faces down, all you have to do is put the line back through the eye of the hook...Doh!
  3. Thank you sir, good info! Planning on fishing sometime this week, looking forward to try some new things.
  4. I've only fished cape fair once and it was after it rained. The water was completely stained light brown. Not sure if it matters but I heard the bite is better once it clears up a little. Saw a sign that said welcome to cape fair the "bass capital" so it got me excited, but after a day of butt whoopin' I felt like spitting on that darn sign on the way home.
  5. 60' wow! The deepest I've tried to fish has been around 35' guess I need to try a different approach.
  6. Ive caught more fish on the drop shot then any other way, but not on Table Rock. I hear a lot of talk about success on Table Rock with a drop shot. Personally haven't had much luck so I normally use a jig. I have caught a few on the drop w/Roboworms, but mostly near the bank in shallow water. I have also had luck catching big smallys on a drop wacky rigging a black senko around docks. Anybody have some tips on fishing the drop shot. Table Rock is a deep lake, are the successful people catching fish using the drop shot suspended in water or near the bottom? What colors and type?
  7. The purple and green 3/8 is something I always use with a matching creature bait on Table Rock and it always seems to catch fish. Maybe add some black or black and green w the purple. Fished the state park today and it was a slow bite, but I did manage to hit a grand slam with the purple and green jig. Caught 1 Kentucky, 6 Smalleys, and 2 Large mouth. Did not catch numbers but 3 Smalleys and 1 Largey were over 3 lbs so not bad I guess. 1 of the Smalleys and 1 of the Larges that were over 3 lbs were caught on a spook in the morning, but the jig is usually my go to bait on the lake. Nice lookin jigs!
  8. I fished fellows today and caught 3 nice bass by the fish marker by the dock close to the bank. Lost one that was at least a 5 lb due to some submerged brush. I was using a jig w/creature bait when I caught all of them, but that was about it. Fellows has a tough bite with an occasional muskie or walleye. Lake Springfield is good at times in certain spots of the lake. I have caught a lot of bass on jigs and also top water spooks before sundown. That lake is definitely over-fished and have seen people keeping bass that are barely pushing 10 inches on several occasions. If you got the time i would recommend fishing table rock if your looking for numbers. Once you learn to fish that lake its worth the drive if you have more than a few hours to fish. Ive never fished McDaniels....... anybody know how the fishing is out there?
  9. A spinner bait at night........I gotta try that! Just to add some details...............I caught a good number of small ones during the day on jigs and crank baits while in about 22 ft of water, then the fish started to get larger on top water using a spook during sunset, but noticed I was catching larger fish at night. Caught most on a jig with a dark colored creature bait throwing it right on the bank around some submerged trees. The moon was almost full last night, not sure if that helped the bite. Last time I fished night I was throwing a large red and black deep diving crank and did pretty well that night.
  10. Caught a lot of bass as soon as the sun went down, does anyone know if the color matters at night?
  11. Caught a limit on Fellows but thats about it.
  12. On one of the paved roads not far from the boat ramp on a main lake point bouncing a sweet beaver past the bushes. The wind was blowing in my face about 20 mph.I could see the Muskie chasing the jig, after 2 or 3 casts finally hooked him. Was using 8 lb line, definitely the biggest fish I never caught. I caught the 2 bass close to the darn on a red Berkeley bottom hopper on a drop shot. Missed 2 more bass on the drop shot that came unhooked. I'll say the bite at fellows is tough, but this was a good day at Fellows with my experience.
  13. Caught 2 nice bass from shore with a drop shot and a huge @#$#$ walleye or muskie bouncing a jig that broke my line at the shore. Was definately bigger than the 6 lber that caught a few weeks ago. This thing was almost twice as big.............there is some monsters in there WOW!
  14. Goggle eyes oh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I caught them on a trap near some trees, it seems the water level is pretty high
  15. Fished from my canoe, launched from Indian Point and caught 17 bass. Mostly Kentuckys with some nice keepers on senkos and rattrap. I tried posting the video on here but the size of the video is too large, but caught 2 bass that look more like peacock bass than the regular 3 species found on table rock. It was a bright yellowish color. It looked more like a Kentucky than the other 2 but not a normal Kentucky. Strange must be some kind of hybrid or a spawning bass but pretty cool!!!!!
  16. Caught a Walleye today for the first time and it turned out to be a 6lber. Nice fish!!!!
  17. That's awesome! It's good to know they are still out there.
  18. Fished Cape Fair yesterday and saw brown ferrit looking animals roaming the bank. I thought it was someones pet, but saw more than one on occasion roaming the bank. Anyone know what they are?
  19. Fished Cape Fair on Saturday, the water was real muddy due to the rain. Still managed to catch some Kentuckys on a jig.

  21. Fished Springfield Lake today, caught 4 all on topwater within the hour that I fished. 1 keeper smashed the spook right before sundown.
  22. Why do I catch more turtles around the power plant than any other lake.
  23. Thanks buddy!!!
  24. Does anyone know where to buy some minnows in Springfield?
