Heck of a day!!! I struggled out there today..couple shorts and a small keeper. Fished all over big sac and sons creek area...looks like i was way too shallow with the sun and no wind conditions today. Great job Derrill!!!

We always stay at State Park...nice area and all facilities right there...quick access to state park ramp & marina (darn good breakfast and lunch shack on the water there as well).
-
Lane spent a lot of time one cove over from pb2 where the other public boat ramp is...he was in the back of there several times...they didn't venture too far from pb2...looks like christie just committed to staying in pb2 the whole time

That is impressive!!! I hated to leave early yesterday...they were definitely biting!!

Sounds like a great day!! Sure was nice out there this morning!!

Put in at 7:15 at Mutton and headed a few miles up the big sac...water was 42-43 deg. Picked up the jerkbait and never put it down...they were eating this morning! Caught around 15 fish with 4 or 5 keepers...nothing big just typical keepers. Fish are definitely grouped up...caught 6 fish on one little 25 yard stretch in about 12 cast. Got off the water by 9:30a to get back home...wish I could have stayed all day! Lots of boats out as well! Here are a few from today.

Put in at Orleans Trail around 11:30am. Stayed in the darn area to the mile long bridge...water was mostly 45. Caught one on a-rig and another 4 or 5 on megabass jerkbait. Picked the wife and kids up around 3 to go look at a couple bald eagles that were hanging out at the mouth of orleans trail cove. Pretty slow day for me fishing wise but was nice to get the first fish of the year out of the way! Heading back up the river tomorrow morning for a couple hours before heading home...been a better bite for me up there. here are a few pics from the day....tried to get a pic of the famiy with 2 big eagles sitting in the tree behind us.

Had a great time with dprice!! Mission was to catch his first a-rig fish...got that out of the way on our first spot!! I think he caught 5 overall on the a-rig and a couple more on crank and jerkbait. I had 1 on the a-rig and 4-5 on a jerkbait. We got on the water around 1:30 and off at 5pm. Bite has been tougher in the afternoon...will probably be out the next couple mornings as the family and I are staying at the lake this weekend. thanks again Derrill for joining me...looking forward to doing it again!

I was using braid...granted its been on there for a while...i think its from having some backlashes and trying to pick them out that it weakened the line in several spots. Changing out line to 20 lb flouro to see if that goes better with preventing backlashes...i think it happens when I do get snagged with braid and pulling with so much force the braid digs in deep in the spool so the next cast can be disastrous!! Or i try to throw it hard to get it way out there and now and then the braid will loop around one of the rod eyes.

Put in at 7:30am at old state park and headed up to big sac and sons creek. Had 3 jerkbaits and a-rig tied on. Fished several main lake and secondary points with a buddy of mine and the bass were eating the jerkbait in the morning...between the two of us we probably caught 30-40 fish with maybe 10-15 keepers...nothing big just typical keepers. After we found a small school decided to throw the a-rig at them...broke off 2 a-rigs hung up in rocks in a bout a 10 minute stretch...so put it away and just fished jerkbaits the rest of the day. Around noon decided to run to the little sac and try some areas over there with no luck. Came back to the fish we found in the morning and caught a couple more before heading home around 4:30. water ranged from 39-42 up by the twin bridges and main lake by the islands was around 45 deg. Will be back down this weekend with the family and will get out for a few hours. Jeremy

Good day to be out there!! Thanks for the report. Now I am no a-rig expert but was given some advice recently on where/when to fish it. So will be testing it out to see if it works a couple times next week. I think I'm going Wednesday and then going to spend new years eve and new years day at Stockton with the family. Will take them out some to find some eagles but plan to fish a few hours each day. If I can get them dialed in you are more than welcome to join me new years weekend if you are around for a couple hours. Went out on Thursday and had a killer day on jerkbaits (i took 2 rods so that is all I threw)...probably had 30 fish and they were grouped up so I would catch 6-8 once I caught one. Was told if you find them like that on a jerkbait they will hit the a-rig as well....so plan to test it out. Thanks again for the report and maybe we can find a time to catch a few. Jeremy

Merry Christmas to all of you!!

Dutch, Went over to Stockton today to get a few things out of my boat. Drove over mile long bridge and no ice anywhere. Stopped in at old state park...no ice and ramp was clear...the courtesy dock was covered with ice and the road going to both state parks had a thin layer of ice/snow on it. Drove over to the twin bridges area and all was ice free when I went over the hwy Y bridge. The warmer temps and sun was melting things quickly. Good luck tomorrow...I will probably be down Thursday to try my luck.

I plan to fish during the winter a little more this year since I'm keeping my boat down there in storage now. Have fished a little the past winters in late January and February when water is low to mid 40's. Usually just fish a jerkbait in the mid-lake area...drag a finesse jig around some as well...have had decent luck but no big fish. Plan to try a-rig a little more this year and expand to try some new areas besides my normal stuff. Have seen pics and reports of plenty of 6-8 lbers out of Stockton in the winter...trying to figure out how to catch a couple of them big girls!

Thanks for the report redshad...good to see the spinnerbait bite is still good if you get in the right areas....its tapered off some for me last couple outings. Sure is fun when they are smashing it right on the bank...makes if tough to put down!!

Put in at Orleans Trail around 8:30am while the remaining rain/mist was passing through. Fished around Orleans trail until it cleared up some. Then headed out and fished around the darn area for a couple hours. Water temp was still 53-54 degrees with some cooler water around 51 deg in the backs. Started with sbait again and caught a few but not the same consistency as earlier in the week. Started throwing the jig more on deeper banks/channel swings in the back half of creeks and there was a steady bite all day. Had a buddy with me today and together we had around 30 fish with around 12 keepers...nothing big just typical 15-17" fish. Fished around the darn to price and up by mile long bridge. Hopefully the big girls will start showing up soon...this cold front coming this week should really cool the water down more...hope to get down next weekend to fish the Polar Bear Tourney on Sunday....should be a good one!! Here is a short video highlighting a few catches. Thanks for watching!! Jeremy

Decided to go back down on Thursday for a few hours. Put in at State Park Marina around 7:30 am...wanted to see if the same pattern was working from where I launch down to the bridge. Fished around Masters and Cedar Ridge and some of the bigger pockets. Was concentrating on the back 1/3rd of the pocket where the last deep water bank was that has good chunk rock and wind blowing in on it. No cloud cover so I worked shaded banks as long as I could. Water ranged from 51-53 degrees. Caught most on a s-bait and a few shorts on a 3/8oz Finesse Jig (Brown with GP Candy vibe craw). About noon and only catching about 8 fish I ran back up to the darn area where I fished on Monday and immediately caught 2 on a s-bait again...got off the water at 1:30p. Had around 10 fish for the day with 3 or 4 keepers. Lot tougher than Monday for me...could of been location and having sunny skies. Going back on Sunday out of Orleans Trail and will probably stay in the darn area as water is still a little warmer...may run a little past the mile long bridge as well. Here is a video highlighting my day. Thanks and if you see a white and teal/green Skeeter come by and say hi. Jeremy
