  1. Do you guys cut the center on the Beaver, or leave it in tact?
  2. Thanks for sharing everybody, I see a lot of similarities that will help me in trimming some tackle. You all are great for sharing!
  3. Thank you! I did find the other posts, and weeded through a lot of talk about them that made me wish i had some right now, and that I never had to use one all at the same time. It looks like a love/hate relationship type of lure.
  4. That is just impressive...I am very envious, and happy for you all at the same time.
  5. So I have seen some recent discussion around wake baits and "Red Fins", which I can only assume are the hardbaits made by Cotton Cordell. I have never used them, but it sounds like I am missing out... How, when, what conditions, and what color?
  6. Bank fishing the sac river when the water is between 50-60f is almost like cheating...next year, catch it a bit earlier and you will kill it! You may have some success now if you plan on giving it a shot this week. Minnows on bobbers, white 1/8oz roostertails, white/chartrues swimming minnow on 1/8oz leadhead, etc. Can catch crappie and white bass, maybe a lucky walleye. There is a lot of bank access on sac river too.
  7. I asked this question in the Table Rock Thread, and and wanting to see if there is a difference between Stockton fishermen and TR Fishermen: If you could only carry 5 plastics with you, what would they be and what color? 1. Berkley Powerbait Chigger craw (blk & Blu) 2. Zoom G-tail worm (Greenpumpkin) 3. Elaztech ZinkerZ (PB & J) 4. Zoom Finess Worm 6" (Greem Pumpkin) 5. Berkley Havoc Subwoofer (pearl)
  8. What sacriverjim said....riprap at CC will have people lined up soon with bobbers and minnows/worms for catfish. I would try from now until June, but it would be a very good place. Aldrich is also a good place, as is Sons Creek. River channels being close is good advice, and best area. You can look up stockton maps on this forum, or go to Basspro/walmart and get a "hotspots lake map", it will give you topo information, structure, and some tips/tricks for fishing the body of water it represents.
  9. I have recently aquired a couple chatterbaits, heard they were great when the spinner bait was slow, but it was that time of year. Anyone have any experience with these type baits, that they are willing to share?
  10. seeing a lot of "Fish Doctors"....never used those before, how do you rig it?
  11. Im not even going to ask how many of you carry more plastic baits than you use, because if you say you don't im going to call you a "fisherman" which is a nice way of calling you a "liar". So with that being said, I find myself with entirely too much plastic at times and and I get to the end of a season and i didn't use half of it. If you could only carry 5 plastics with you, what would they be and what color? 1. Berkley Powerbait Chigger craw (blk & Blu) 2. Zoom G-tail worm (Greenpumpkin) 3. Elaztech ZinkerZ 4. Zoom Finess Worm 6" (Greem Pumpkin) 5. Berkley Havoc Subwoofer (pearl)
  12. I really enjoy throwing a pop'r! Top water is my favorite, just something about watching your bait and seeing and old bass come up with mouth open and smash it! Sometimes it scares me, as I pop that bait all the way back to the boat and have had them smash it 2' in front of me. I love it when that happens. I think the best tip I can offer when throwing it is to let it set for a few seconds before popping it. Dont hesitate to let it set for a few seconds when you start poppin it back either...chug chug chug...set for 5 secs, 1 chug...set for 5 seconds. Although constant popping does work sometimes, there are times where a pause here and there can be more effective. Just my 2c. I love a White bass top water bite too...OMG!
  13. Put in at Aldrich around 2pm (after fishing Pomme from 10a-1pm with only 3 crappie to show for it). Went to my usual spot and fished until 745pm. Boated over 60 crappie, only 20 keepers (2 of us fishing. Most of them were Black Crappie, and most of them males. Most of them were 9", too. Was killing me. The bite was solid, water was 63-64 and stained with about 2' visibility.Wind couldn't have been blowing more than 2mph (Wierd for stockton!) We caught them all sitting in 20 FOW casting right at the bank, and slowly bringing it back allowing it to fall with the decline of the bank. We were using 2.75" pearl swimming minnows on 1/8oz chartruese jig head. Although the bite was solid, we did have to let them tap it, then chomp it. We would stop reeling on the tap, wait a second to feel another tug them lightly set. If we tried to set on first tap, came unbottoned every time. Was odd. We found them on chunck rock, pea gravel, and mud. Was a really great day to be on the water!
  14. Why would I light my chewing tobacco on fire? /end sarcasm :-)
  15. I like to see people seeking clarification on conservation rules, so great question. When reading responses, both above posts are correct. However, I always recommend people read for themselves versus just taking someones word for it as rules can change from year to year and people often rely on memory. I have pasted info and links below to MO conservation rules regarding your question: http://mdc.mo.gov/fishing/regulations/general-fishing-rules/general-fishing-methods Number of Poles and Hooks If you use more than 3 poles (or 2 poles on the Mississippi River) at any one time, the additional poles must be labeled with your full name and address. Regardless of the method or number of poles, you may not use more than a total of 33 hooks at any one time; except on the Mississippi River the maximum is 50 hooks at one time. If fishing on the Mississippi River and on other Missouri waters at the same time, no more than 50 hooks may be used and not more than 33 on waters other than the Mississippi. Hooks on trotlines must be staged at least 2 feet apart. Hooks on any type of line, as well as the line itself, must be attended every 24 hours or removed. http://mdc.mo.gov/fishing/regulations/general-fishing-rules/alabama-rig-regulations A-rig regulations hope this helps!
  16. wow...great idea, hadn't ever thought of that!
  17. Ramp is fine, some people just use the shallow tapering bank to put in if they have 4wd and it is busy, but i have not had to wait more than 15 mins in the last 6 times I have been there with a full parking lot. A-rig bite is slowing down significantly, but it is till there. If you are fishing bucketmouths you may have better luck with a spinnerbait or finess approach. I did have a buddy say he was catching bass in a significant manner using u-vibe worm (6") in junebug last week? Water is clear, mid to high 50s.
  18. So I took everyones advice on the senko style worm of choice for the nedrig and used elaztech, along with superglue...which seemed like a lot of work to me. It paid off, naturally. My question is this: does anyone use elaztech products for anything else? The swimbaits on a-rig, craws on jigs, etc? Basspro has a very limited selection of ZMan baits, like 4 kinds of plastics I think. Tacklewarehouse has over a dozen different kinds of baits. The downfall for me is needing to superglue them to your terminal tackle, don't do well in the heat of summer (inside your tackle box), and if they come into contact with other plastics they just melt. For all of that, the upside is they last through 10x the fish when you are actually using them. However, I don't hear of many people using anything other than the Zinkers.
  19. Not sure how I would contact him, but if someone has an email address I would be more than happy to email him a report!
  20. i fished the 26th, finesse baits coming off rock ledges into 8 fow...picked up about 20 bass ranging from 14"-16". All on about 1/2 mile stretch. No big females. Now, last weekend to the middle of last week I was catching 5-6lb LM bass using a-rig in 18-20 FOW up agains steep drop offs of chunk rock.
  21. So, with recent succes on the ned-rig (long time observer, first time user this weekend), I have reconsidered the benefits of finess fishing. I keep reading that trick worms are very good with this, either on a shakey head, weightless, T-rigged, or C-rigged. I feel confident in the colors I have recently obtained, but was hoping to hear about "local" success with trick worms, and any tips or tricks you may feel up to sharing :-)
  22. LOCTITE...as if it has not been said enough. Gel Control reduces chance of getting it all over the place and between your delicate fingers. I have been reading about ned rig for 2 years now, with minimal confidence because it looks dumb to me (i am the guy tackle companies love, b/c i buy what looks go to ME, not neccesarily the fish). I fished an alumni tourney saturday at stockton, and the previous week I have been KILLING it on the a-rig and spinner baits. I caught a 5.3 and 5.9 bass in same general area. The saturday of that weekend I couldn't catch a darn thing, but did have a ned rig (PB&J) hooked up and ready to go..."what do I have to loose, im not catching anythign anyways". First cast, fish on! I eneded up coming in 1st place out of 24 anglers, and hadn't landed a fish in the first 4 hours of the tournament. Im SOLD, and very interested in dumb looking lures, now. It has made me rething finess fishing, and not pigeon hole it as a "small fish catcher". Oh, 1 ned reg (plastic and jig) lasted through 23 bass without replacing. **Best tip for riggin' it Ned Style: Pinch the end that will make contact with jig head so the center protrudes above the rest...cut center with small scissors. Makes a little "seat" for the jig head to sit in and makes for an easier glue job.
  23. i have looked all over town for these "Puprle Swimming minnows" and not even an empty hook peg...where can I find these at?
  24. thanks for the report!
