  12. guys , you have no idea how impaortant this is!!!!! i am 34, 19 yrs ago mom beat breast cancer, only to leave us last year after out she had blatter, lung & bone cancer... my mom used to take me fishing on the white river, when i was small... my dad was not a fisherman, he was always too busy working.. when my mom left last year it made me realize that time is too short to work all the time.. i was starting to go that route, trying to keep money rolling in.. i decided that money is just not taht important. mine & my dad's relationship is not great since my mom left. But what i learned is my mom was my fishing buddy.. When she left i went to the river to fish, brought back a lot of memories, caught a lot of fish, gave me a chance to reflect on what was important & also what i shoul;d be doing with my kids... and thats fish more.. last year i let the grass get high, to go & will continue to do the same, you need this time, you cant get it back & no one can take the best memories like tjhooer was talking about... nothing better than seeing a 4 yr old reeling a nice trout! buy the way nice fish! noe day i'm gotin to satrt crappie fishing
  13. I used to install car audio. Yes as a young man I was the punk we all want kill now with the big boom! Lol Regardless of how waterproof they say you will want to keep them out of direct super soaker areas if you have any. The amp needs air flow or it will shut down in the summer. I will tell you now, keep it away from FUEL unless you want to get a new boat.... U laugh, but being ex military I have seen it all. I would make speaker pods, this way u can angle them how ever you want to make the best sound, not from a great sound aspect, but for listening.. With out a cab there is no sound structure. This is easily done with or by making a couple speaker rings and some of the plumbing strap. Cut the rings and glue or screw rings to strap, form to your liking and cover with an old Cotten t-shirt or sweatshirt. Staple it snug and wet out with fiberglass resin. 1-2 hrs u have a pod, continue to cove in a couple layers of shirt or fiberglass, till it is 1/8" or so thick... You can glass into place if want.. You can even make a simple balsa stick square and cover in glass... Let cure, sand and gel coat or paint to match.... Keep wire runs short to amp and always cross any wires in the boat only if you have to & form a90 degree angle. A cross, tee what ever you want to call it, this will keep interference to a minimum, and no annoying buzzing from the speakers. If it were me I donut them in the front storage area with the speaker baffles from cruthfield.com to keep them dry and seal of the hole. Then the face rear and ever one should hear them... Keep the amp out of the sun, with good airflow, as it draws less power the cooler it runs, so keep the gain to minimum only use enough power to keep volume low and still hear good, this will kill distortion. Hope all that helps... James
  14. I have considered them, but as an ex-technision rule is grease makes a barrier and if kept packed normally you will never have a prob even if the seal is compromised to some extent. Oil is a whole different beast, once it starts to leak its over. We all know oil and water don't mix. If the seals are not kept changed you run the risk of intermix or running a dry hub. I use bearing buddies, every trailer I have ever seen uses them and for sure if on a boat trailer for the reason i discribed above. With that said I have heard a lot of folks complain of this problem but I don't know anyone personally nor have I ever used. OTR trucks use them with pretty good luck it seems, but again they are maintained better then some of us opt to. Not all but most anyway. My moto is don't mess with what works... I need grease for stuff any way, including my outboard, so I figure why have to buy an additional fluid just for that.... In my time working on tractors, big and small trailers, autos and in the military, everything that was greased was always more protected from elements to the friction, as grease has a way higher load bearing to pressure and friction.
  15. thanks mitch... jd, it has made an impact, i promise, you have all of us thinking, i know i was this weekend when i hit the river, just slowed & was more awear than normal .... if you help one person this was worth it! you may never know till down the road but just remember we reap what we sow..
  16. thanks for filling us in.. hey every little bit helps!
  17. dropped in at white hole with my 8 yr old and .... nothing out of normal ... then he ( a button buck ) decides to become our friend.. hey Willie who's the Buck Commander now! lol
  18. Jd I am truly sorry.. This is a horrible thing! Our thoughts are with you and his family! Above it was mentioned it should break away, I'm not bass boat expert, but I have a friend that is, he works and repairs the boats for bass cats pro's... He also has a boat repair shop here in north ar. I just seen him fix this very same problem, but the guy hit a log flipped up the motor and busted the hole rear cap at the rear deck, and busted the transom.... This guy was ok, but it happened more then you think, I was shocked when seen it... But your right all the technology we have and we have not designed a safe break away plate or similar. Being around his shop has made respect things a lot more than ever. Remember we only promised today if we rise. Tomorrow is not a promise. We all serve a purpose, once that is filled we called home, no matter the time nor place. Want to hear god laugh? Just tell him your plans ! In the mean time we are all hear just helping each other, learning and passing along what maybe the best things in life, a common bond that helps us remember life is not ours, and we are only passing through. I hope I can learn as much as some, more than others, and pass along the brotherly love while fishing and fellowshipping with others. That's why we come here, to enjoy a common interest, and help inform, even when we encounter the sadness off this post. I lost my mom last year, this my first real close family loss... My mom was my mom, and my friend, I miss her, my boys miss her, as you will miss your friend. Please know that I write this love in key strokes, joy in my heart, empathy for the friends and family, but hope that he believed in Christ so we may meet some day, and share a shady stump by a lake in place far greater than we can ever know. God bless! Ps sorry this was long, but I just felt compelled to write... James

  20. I was fishing the white just below tucker shoals... And thanks by the way.. I don't mind telling u everything... I had a big one hitting 2.5" gulp hot pink worm... This one was on a zig jig, ginger I think...
  21. Thats what i was using, an yes, a lot of gut hooking, im able to get 90 % out and we cut or keep any that too bad.. Always rainbows.. Lol I m now setting up like a Carolina rig.. I may let them try, they are 8 & 10, problem is they are the lack of listening kind.... I tell what to do and no what what i do they just dont listen. Lol thats kids... Ill give um a shot and see... Thanks man. no else has .02 to add.... ? lol man dont hold back ! i was using the bottom set up & have for 25 years, cuz thats what i was shown, but i just dont care much for it.. i got out of fishing for a bit as i was in the military & was gone, now i am back .. i am trying to find better ways, so now i will swicthing over to the top style, what i am told is carolina rig (i dont bass fish yet)... i think this way will be more sensitive to feeling a hit... but i will not over look ham's suggestion of roosters & spoons .. i had no luck last year with them, so i did not fish any..
  22. what type are you guys using? i had been using the traditional style (24-36" double overhand knot to a sinker tyed to the main line) i have used since i was a kid.. but we have a hard time feeling the bit & so do my kids so i have decided to switch over to the slip sinker style & see how that works.. any feed back would be wounderful.. this is more for my boys then me, i fish the trout magnet & just started to fish the zig jig ... but my boys are not quite reay for either one of them yet.. river rig is best suited for them being young. thansk guys
  23. lol... i can't wait to get one.. i hear that all the time .. i'm like you, i want a really nice new boat , but paying for one is hard to do.. i'm hoping to get a good used one, but if not maybe i can bring myself to get a new one.. what size 4s did you buy.. i was thinking 20, but i think 15 will be plenty
  24. I'm still hunting big one's..
