  1. My mistake, I thought the question was what do they take from the river. When I hear Warsaw I automatically think the Osage, before and after. They always shock right after dark here, or so it seems. They do bring them back to the same area, River Run. I wonder where the Warsaw fish end up?
  2. good information. Is that your dubbing?
  3.  Well pay attention. That was an old article from the MDC put there to point out that control of a species might be necessary. My precious non-native fish? Not hardly, but I am intellegent enough to recognize that if things eliminate the natives environment it would be ridiculous to not find another way to use the resource, especialy one that has the economic impact that is so needed in the areas effected. I haven't targeted trout in several years, but that's just my choice. I've targeted smallies as far back as my teen years, and that was probably before you were a twinkle. Trout fishing produces a lot of money and enjoyment in this state and no native fish were deliberatly harmed in the process. You do realize that man built Table Rock for flood control and not to make a trout fishery for Taney county don't you? I've been preaching this from the start and I've yet to see a legitimate reason why this argument shouln't carry weight with the MDC, is is reasonable and it has precedence in other outdoor ventures. The MDC isn't interested in preserving it to any degree or they would have moved to protect the Redhorse's size which it was known for. Just because you went gigging once with a stupid uncle and after the only reason you could come up with is that it's stupid is not going to sway the MDC beyond a good. laugh. The problem is obvious, but the solution can't over impact another sport or you won't get an ear..
  4. I'm sure you can get an ear, after all as long as you and others call people stupid etc.there is no reason for them to want to hear what you have to say. I'm sure the MDC wants to ban gigging. Once again, if you really want to see some changes for better protection of game fish in general, try to come up with some realistic arguments.
  5. I'm thinking that you would want to troll in the channel. You can't get up into the better area below the dam, it's prohibited. If you're refering to my post, he's full of it. That area is one of the best smorgasbords in the state.
  6. Once again ignorance runs rampant on here. I agree with Ozark Trout Fisher because if you agree with tactician you I doubt that you know any giggers or much about it. Well smallie I see you were posting while I was typing and once again you stretch it. Yes there are reasons for gigging, why not use a resource? If you see "lots", why do the rest of us see a few or the "fact" you've heard about White and Hognose. When people like you talk to the MDC they don't listen. They don't listen because you don't come across with any reasonable ideas, and the status quo remains. I'm as passionate about smallies as anyone on here, but I realize that the MDC will have to follow through eventually on adjusting regulations concerning gigging to the point they can enforce safeguards for other species.
  7. I think its at the end of Samaritan road, if I'm not mistaken?
  8. Daryk I'm not singling you out, but you do have the mindset of someone who is not that close to it all. You're ceratinly not alone and in fact you're most likely in the majority. The fact is people close to the river don't read those boards because they have word of mouth for their news, etc. The problem is these people have an inside track, they know where the agents live, they have a large group of people on the bank waiting for them, and the word of mouth news says nothing is happening. If the MDC wants make the effort they need to call in a bunch of people, slip down to a shoal and then call boats over for inspection before they can dump anything. The Niangua is a good example of why they need to be on the river. They caught some at an access several years ago and it slowed down the boys that had to use the public accesses, but it did nothing to worry those that don't and they are most likely the worst offenders. While the county agent setup has some merit, they need more to combat todays technology. If you're going to get ahead of cell phones, etc you have to be inconspicuous and many.
  9. Obviously many on here have no idea about how much money some giggers have in their rigs. Their is nothing wrong with using a resource, but unfortunatly the MDC has kept a good distance between themselves and giggers. This is to be expected because that is their phiosophy on everything. They only want protect the survival of a resource and protect the money fish. Grabbers have their days also. I watched a guy grabbing whites on Swan, it was deliberate and he was throwing them back. I'm sure if the MDC had approached him he would have claimed it was an accident, but he was having lots of them.
  10. Why? They know it's against the law. If you're going to put a dent in it you have to do something that makes enforcment easy. There are too many accesses, fords and other areas to drop a boat in. You can't wait for them because they already have eyes and ears waiting for them a phone call away. They don't put the fish in the trucks so the window to find illegal fish is small. I still contend they should limit their ability to gig the wrong fish, whether accidentally or on purpose, by making them do it with traditional equiptment. Tradition is their argument for continuing and there is precedence for it. You can't use a crossbow during archery season or centerfires during black powder, it's not traditional.
  11. I've heard that it's closed also.
  12. It did some damage in Powersite and east of Kissed Mills. It appears that a case could be that the same cell ended up in IL.
  13. Then what? You're going down river and you're hung up in a tree behind you, and the rods behind you also.
  14. Yeah I had Swan on the brain. If you were up towards the pothole it was definately probably carp. I don't know that the stripers come up if there isn't a heavy flow? I'm no expert, but I was under the impression that they come to a heavy flow and deeper water.
  15. No problem, but I was just wondering if it got into old town?
  16. I wonder how they kept it from cutting the line? They should have kept him in the boat when they weighed him.
  17. At times there can be a lot of carp and buffalo up there. I don't generally see trout there however.
  18. Well that is not what I saw last year and that was why I made the comment. What did they do different to make it an all round kayak? Stop running under stuff? How about tight creeks or trees over the water? I can store my rods inside my Tarpon, including 9' fly rods. It is easy to forget rods behind you, especially in tight situations. I put a rod holder behind me on my Tarpon, it was a waste as far as I'm concerned. I can lay all my rods in front of me starting from my crotch and keep them safe. Update, I just made a quick look and I'm still seeing $200 difference.
  19. ???????????????????? Just lots of wind and sirens here. Ironically the news last night was talking about Branson hiring early this year because of the warm winter. This isn't exactly the kind of news that will do it a lot of good.
  20. Are the whites in the creek?
  21. Cricket's fine. Nothing but wind in Rockaway.
  22. ?????? with the three lures you listed?
  23. The chances of you being piined are much greater here than you being knock out. I would put that low on my list even on the class IV's Ive run out west. If you need the floatation the price of a new cartridge will be worhth it I'm sure. I see a lot of talk about the Coosa, but what makes it worth the extra money over the old tried and well accepted Tarpon? Rod holders behind you are where you put the rods you want to get rid of, and it works.
