  1. I would assume thats a product of the levee system, not allowing the river to get out of the channel at mix it up.
  2. At least I know that puts me in good company. Oh, and I know that cat is definatly not a calico. This is a Calico.
  3. I don't know Al if its because they can be had as much as that they are guaranteed a good profit because their capital investments are secure. Unfortunately when it comes to political contributions, both sides do well, but there is no political spectrum, only far right and left anymore. Its been said that any problem in a democracy such as ours can be solved, if there's a dollar to be made.
  4. It amazes me the number and size of G'eye's in TR.
  5. I need to get down and do some of that above Trigger with you.
  6. With the amount of water there it looks like it. Given the fact that a breach worries y'all, maybe you should avoid the area until this rain quits. I'll let you know when its safe. That "calico" thing reminds me of 2 kids laughing at their own joke, I just wish I knew what it was.
  7. I don't see how the devastation of the forest can't be having a significant effect. We hear about the Rain forest, but nothing of the encroachment by agriculture and suburban sprawl. We have long been one of the societies that cuts trees and then names the streets after them, while planting a scraggly replacement to mitigate damages. The concept that the rich can buy a carbon offset in order to avoid sacrifice isn't likely to get cooperation from the masses anytime soon either. There is simply too much disparity between the emerging third world and the historical industrial countries to think that any cure will be worldwide and easy.
  8. To some degree, but the bottom line will be when there is more crude than demand, and that can come from many avenues. I still contend that a concentrated effort in using less foreign crude will not only cut the cost, but do wonders for our overall security. Our security is in serious jeopardy over the locations of our petroleum sources.
  9. Tyson does for the American economy like a Flu epidermic does.
  10. The riffle at Ho-Humm has been exceptional at times in the past, so you never know.
  11. My guess would be they are constantly on the move to take advantage of the rises in water level.
  12. We certainly seem to be preoccupied with non-renewable energy sources. I think most of that is due to the capital investments, which date back a century or so.
  13. Jeremy, couple of questions, when you say Australia's water system, what exactly do you mean? Are these fresh water "Minnows"? How do you balance the co2 and the O?
  14. There are several good brands, Seattle, Sealine NRS, Cascade, and the list goes on. I have several, up to and including a backpack, but I've settled on packing according to use, and fitting the bag to contents. You might check out sierraoutdoors.com, they often have blems or close outs of top brands.
  15. I understand what you're thinking, but in todays world not all seniors nest eggs are hatching. On the other hand, following your theme on younger people, have you ever considered a discont based on how many youngsters they bring?
  16. The problem with a two day is where to camp, Taney doesn't have a flood pool. There is an area about halfway to Rockaway, but its not open because of some dispute over boundary's.
  17. Did you happen to see them walking that evening. They can wear you out quick if you do a lot of serious kicking and they're a bear to row or kick against the wind. To take one from the dam to to Lilly's or Cooper Creek would be easy enough. Some can be fitted with an electric.
  18. It will be tough with the water levels, are you opposed to renting a canoe. It would give you a lot of access to wadeble water.
  19. Could you be more specific? Elaborate? I was on TR Saturday, and the number of fishermen in comparison to the bedding areas was in good ratio. Lake fish have also had their environment increased a thousand fold so the only thing that bed fishing does is decrease their numbers slightly. The problem I see with bed fishing by pros is that its too easy, if they're the best they should prove in tough conditions, not on bedding fish on a shallow lake in Florida. The stream Smallmouth is a different animal, different environment and battling different challenges, facing technologies that shrinks their environment in the best of conditions, and all but eliminate it in bad conditions. They don't stock stream Smallies, or so I've heard, because it doesn't work.
  20. Like Ollie said, its apples and oranges comparing stream Smallies to lake fish. Lakes tend to be stable during the spawn, at least when compared to streams, and will always have a lot of areas unseen. Streams had the protection of off color and higher levels during the spawn as a rule, but that hasn't been true for many years now. You can often fish an area in which you can see every inch of the bottom, or so you think, but there will be Smallies hidden there, but when they build a nest its seen by all. People believe that stream Smallies are protected by law during the spawning season, and they are, by law and little else.
  21. I would imagine the lake keeps adding to the mix. Do you float, or paddle?
  22. That whole area went under in '51 and aside from levee's, there's not much more flood control in the area. There are some dams on the Mo up north, but I don't know if that changes anything historically?
  23. Nice grassie, I'll bet they were a thrill. Oh and I,d guess around 12#
  24. What do you think Wrench?
  25. The Outcast's are a solid choice, and they have the pedigree to back them up.
