  1. The rivalry started around 1854 and i don't think it will end anytime soon. It might subside for periods of time, but meetings are inevitable and nothing will change or mellow.
  2. Iowa State?? Is that the same school that made the final 16, I believe it was, and lost to the eventual national champion. They play UConn closer than any other team.
  3. If they are going to play in the SEC it's no different than the Big 12, you gotta pay to play.
  4. Use the Springfield weather. They cover the area thoroughly.
  5. I could see Marshall being interested. His personality is said to be the type that would welcome the recruiting advantages of Missouri and the SEC.
  6. I don't know about when, but we've always caught some in the Coombs Ferry area. They seem to prefer the chunk rock flats, or so it seems to me. I suppose given the fact they aren't native they go to water that fits their instincts.
  7. Yea I noticed a page was missing from an earlier discussion.
  8. I suspected as much with the crappie being out at the cable, but you never know.
  9. No doubt, but this upper end had a lot of bank fishermen. I would guess that on any given warm weekend there would be over a hundred people between the Pothole and Beaver creek. Most of that is gone now. Maybe 25% is still available, but the logistics have changed. I can only imagine how many people it affected lake wide. For me the question mark is why was it deemed important after all these years of success. Follow the money maybe?
  10. Were they running water?
  11. Ham it will help the spawn for awhile with all the new cover, but then it will just be Bull Shoals again with a lot of access gone. The Bull also suffers from being the holding pool for the lakes above and it has been brim full in the past, what will the head start do? Economically it will hurt up above and I wonder what it will do for waders down below.
  12. Really? Apparently the trout were just barely getting by for preceding 60 years. Not sure how it became so popular or produced a world record?
  13. It has been awhile since I checked into that, but I don't remember running into any problems. I know the MDC suggest chumming for grass carp. I think the rules for their areas are different then statewide however.
  14. So I guess he really freaks out if he sees a skier in the water? I have a source that says Francka to PP is 8 miles. That would be a long float on that river.
  15. The "new" plastic that is highly resistant to freezing probably isn't worth much on the black market, but then again it probably wouldn't be a high profit item for a government contractor either. I'm not sure why they don't use the new stuff, ignorance or graft I assume.
  16. When I was a kid anise was the "secret", but after a couple of bottles and no increase in catches we abandoned that idea. We did really well on soured field corn. All you needed to do was beat the coons and squirrels to the waste ears, soak the kernals for about a week until it soured and go fishing. I still chum with corn when I'm serious about catching them.
  17. I suppose everyone has their own limits, but anything I eat with a lot of hot sauce on them taste like hot sauce to me, With the exception of the visual, hotdogs taste just like wings. Yeah I know, I'm a wimp.
  18. The experts today say that you should pack morels in a net bag and shake it well in the area where you pick them. According to them they need to inoculate the soil, which they do naturally if they stay in place. This, they say is accomplished by the shaking and the later jostling from being carried.
  19. Really? They're probably like hot wings and taste like hot sauce.
  20. I haven't been out this year due to some problems, but the hotspot on Beaver is generally at the Kissee Mills camp on 160. I don't think the water level would hurt a lot unless it's over the old dam base.
  21. San Juan Worms seem popular. I can't really advise because my luck sucks when it comes to hooking them. I might add when they are in vegetation in the spring and raising Cain they are spawning, don't waste you time, bait or fly. You can often catch some away from the action on bait however. If they are in the back of a weedy cove moving a lot of water, fish out in the cove away from the spawning.
  22. No trebles here. I never did care for them because the hooks are small and if you only get one bite you don't have much to hold on too. The other problem with carp is their habit of sucking a bait in and then blowing it out. many think this sucking on the bait, I bought into it at one time, but videos show it is as I said, in and out of the mouth. Enter the Brits and their hair Rig. This thing will catch more carp than all other rigs combined. The secret is in the bare, sharp hook that turns and snags virtually every time. This works, believe me. Here is one of many tutorials on the net. http://www.gofishing.co.uk/Angling-Times/Section/how-to/Coarse-fishing-advice/Fishing-Knots/Knotless-knot-hair-rig/ After you put your dough ball on the hair stick a small twig or toothpick through the loop and keep it from sliding off. I always used braid for the rig. It seems everyone has some left over and this works well with it. This is a leader, so what you don't see is a loop on the other end. The rig also requires a sliding sinker to work well. The idea is that when the hook pricks the carp they will bolt and when they hit the sinker the hook will set.
  23. To really score you need to feed them. Sour some feed corn and throw it in the area you intend to fish about 12 hours before. Fish on top of it. They seem to keep checking an area up to 16-20 hours, or so it seems, I don't have any hard stats.

It's all speculation, but I suspect he went from a possible top pick to a late in the day. It wouldn't be so bad if this one incident was hanging over his head, but he has two others.
